Shelley Morris Interiors orchestrates rooms rich in texture and refined furnishings. Based in Fairfield County, Connecticut, the firm collaborates with a roster of notable East Coast architects supported by a talented team of design specialists including upholsterers, millwork craftsmen, custom furniture makers, ceramicists and fine artists. Known for her use of subtle color and collected objects—from African tribal headdresses to 19th century Majolica platters—Morris has designed homes and apartments ranging in style from Colonial-inspired traditional to artist’s loft modern. Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to service are the designer’s hallmarks and why many clients return time and again.

Morris has completed a wide range of projects throughout the New York metropolitan area, New England and California. She currently is working with clients to design homes in Connecticut, the Hamptons, Westchester County and New York City. A graduate of the interior design program at Parsons School of Design in New York, Morris founded her residential interiors practice in 1992. The designer, who also studied fine art, is passionate about travel, foreign cultures and the history of furniture and architecture, interests reflected in her eclectic interiors.

Shelley Morris can personally address a project of any scope and size, working as a design consultant on an hourly basis. She advises on elements of living such as color palettes, furniture arrangement, art selection and display, accessorizing or updating a room, finding the right antiques, selecting kitchen and bathroom fixtures or designing custom window treatments. Every interior design assignment, in fact, is billed on an hourly design fee basis, with no additional percentages charged for purchases such as furniture or expenses including construction or custom craftsmanship. This process is a rarity of value and integrity in the interior design field, which Morris takes pride in.

Morris’s projects have been featured extensively in publications including Bedford Magazine; Colonial Homes; the Connecticut, Hamptons and Westchester editions of Cottages & Gardens; Decorating Ideas; Design Times; East Coast Home; Fairfield County Home; Westchester Magazine’s Home & Garden; and Woman’s Day Special Publications including Walls, Windows & Floors.

> Working with Shelley has been an absolute joy! She has incredible taste and while she has an uncanny ability to guide you in the right direction, she also has an amazing ability to gently guide you away from things you don't need (which we were very appreciative of :) She's respectful of whatever parameters you may be working with. There's no ego in her work and she will be as collaborative as you may want. Shelley has an easy and fun approach which makes for a totally stress free process. She never pushes or forces anything because she genuinely wants you to have a home that reflects who you are. I always look forward to seeing her and getting her take- and I will definitely go to her for any future endeavors!

**★★★★★ — Dinesh Boaz, Oct. 2020**

> Pleasure to work with and a very unique and creative approach to helping designing our upstate NY home. Shelley opened up our view of design and brought us ideas that we never considered before. She was fast to respond and detailed and meticulous in her plans for us. We still consult with Shelley for small ideas and color suggestions as our home continues to evolve. Highly recommend working with her for your own home.

**Comment from Shelley Morris Interiors:**

> Thank you. It was a pleasure working a client who I knew would be adding his own beautiful fine art photography as the perfect finishing touch throughout.

**★★★★★ — HU-800112976, Sept. 2020**

> Working with Shelley was fantastic! We worked with Shelley virtually, and despite the challenges of furnishing a brand new home in the height of a pandemic, and not being able to meet face-to-face, Shelley nailed it! She gave us a floorplan map of exactly what we needed, and advised on how to execute it, & it was spot on. Because of Shelley's expertise and knowledge we were able to achieve exactly what we were hoping for.

**★★★★★ — Caryl Herson, Nov. 2019**

> I hired Shelley to help design and furnish a 5,000 sq. ft. $3.5 million home construction. She coordinated the interior design as well as the purchase of all furnishings, and did so within budget and well within deadlines. She was professional at all times and also very relatable to work with. Her resources were incredible and she had a working relationship with all of them.
> It was such a pleasure working with her, and I have continued to hire her for projects until today. Her knowledge continues to evolve and grow, and her work ethic is exemplary.

**★★★★★ — Laurie Wilson, Aug. 2019**

> Shelley is both a great talent and a total pleasure to work with! Many designers know "what's hot", but Shelley takes the time to really learn about your lifestyle and preferences. Her ability to mix "new must-haves" with "old favorites" is amazing, and makes for a far more interesting result. My schedule is extremely busy, and Shelley is always flexible, fast and on point. She takes the hassle out by connecting us with high quality, reliable professionals. We are about 2/3 of the way done with a major update for our home, and couldn't be happier with the results, and the fact that it is all fun and enjoyable.

**★★★★★ — James Bailey, Aug. 2019**

> Shelley Morris has been my interior designer for over fifteen years. She has done both architectural design as well as interior design for my homes in Connecticut, Florida and most recently my apartment in New York City. Through the resources she has available we were able to design and completely furnish my apartment in less than ten months.
> I am thrilled with the results.
> My apartment is sophisticated and comfortable.
> Shelley has impeccable taste!

**★★★★★ — Melanie Harris, Aug. 2019**

> Working with Shelley is an absolute pleasure. She is deeply knowledgeable, has excellent taste, and always knows how to steer her clients in the direction that is best for them. I've worked with other designers in the past, but Shelley has something others don't which is a true understanding of who she is working with. And as an added bonus she happens to be a really fun person to spend time with! I would highly recommend Shelley to anyone looking for a top tier designer.

**Comment from Shelley Morris Interiors:**

> Thank you Melanie, I feel the same way about you and Rob, both amazing and lovely people. It has been a pleasure.

**★★★★★ — pgrayd, Dec. 2017**

> Working with Shelley on designing our new home that we recently purchased in Westchester. We are very glad that we found our way to her. We had a good amount of special pieces that we wanted to integrate into the new home in a thoughtful way as we built on to what we had in the new space. Shelley has great vendor contacts across the board and took us to a good variety of stores and specialty shops and artisan manufacturers. We like her model where she passes through all discounts and charges for her time. It removes the conflicts in the typical model and Shelley is a top industry professional from a quality standpoint. She truly listened to us and worked within our established parameters masterfully. We highly recommend her. Photos to follow upon completion.

**★★★★★ — Sue Appleton-Webster, Jan. 2017**

> I have been in the home furnishings, antiques and design business for over 15 years and am the owner of the retail store Swoon. Shelley Morris is one of the most professional and talented people I have had the pleasure of dealing with. She has an unerring eye and is able to determine exactly what her clients need and when she finds it she is decisive. We have worked together on sourcing antiques and art for several of her clients and she has impeccable taste. Perhaps, most importantly, in a business where egos often reflect the size of a budget, Shelley is truly charming and wonderful to work with. Her personal qualities are matched only by her knowledge and skills as a designer.

**Comment from Shelley Morris Interiors:**

> Thank you Sue, you have been a pleasure to work with. Knowing and working with people like you are what make my job feel like "the most wonderful treasure hunt!" Thanks to you and to your fabulous shop in Westport, "Swoon."

**★★★★★ — Jennifer Forese, Oct. 2016**

> I hired Shelley in the fall of 2015 to help me update my four sons' bedrooms from "little boy" rooms to adult rooms. I was so pleased with the results that I decided to do my bedroom and now the main floor of my 10,000+ square foot house. After a full year of working with Shelley, I am thrilled with the results and her considerate way of billing. Shelley charges a per hour rate, which is not inexpensive, however she passes her pricing on to her clients. She does not charge commissions on individual pieces or services so there is no incentive to choose expensive pieces. She is pleasant, responsive, energetic and most importantly talented. I highly recommend Shelley Morris Interiors!

**★★★★★ — Patty Coughlin, Sept. 2016**

> Shelley Morris has been a delight to work with. She completely understood the design concept I was looking for, and the result far exceeded my expectations. She helped me put a modern twist on an older home. I get many compliments on my Décor, and Shelley Morris Interiors made it happen.
>
> Shelley is a total professional. She is always on time, is incredibly organized, and delivers what she promises. She has an excellent rapport with her vendors, which has worked to my advantage when asking for small favors.
>
> Shelley loves to shop with her clients if they are interested; this has been a treat for me. Shelley is a high-energy, fun person to be around, and when we go shopping she knows all the great little boutique stores in SoHo, Brooklyn, etc. Shopping with Shelley guarantees finding treasures that create a unique and original home.
>
> Also, I’m relatively new to the area and Shelley has been kind enough to show me around the town and invite me out on several occasions.
>
> When you work with Shelley Morris you’ll be in talented and capable hands!

**★★★★★ — Nathaniel Galka, Dec. 2015**

> There is nothig less then a profound taste level that can be said of Shelly Morris. She instills her knowledge in simple thruths with design and allows one to find their own personal style while still being educated on what "is" design. Shelley is a rare individual that she sees things succinctly and clearly. She works in an impressively organic way with restraint to tradition and yet very attuned to what is up and coming, yet never falling to trend. With Shelley... in the end one knows without doubt you have a timeless space that you can call home and feel part of becaus it is your space in the end it is what she does best.... helps you find yourself through design and space.

**Comment from Shelley Morris Interiors:**

> I am very humbled and touched by your words Nathaniel, thank you!

A young family moved from an overcrowded apartment in NYC to more space in a Greenwich, CT colonial. ## Community Q&A

**Q: Trim colors throughout home** *(in Photo Questions)*

Noticed dining room trim is different from rest of home. I am trying to figure how to transition paint in a similar situation. I have arches and it seems awkward painting them a color on one side and different on another. How do you transition the trim as I also want to paint a large centerpiece fireplace as well. Going all white seems boring. TY

A: The walls with the arches are the same color front and back. The butler pantry is also the same color as the DR. Thank you for your question.

**Q: Would you be willing to tell me where the rug is from? Thanks!** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The rug was purchased through Danny Sanchez at Lillian August in Norwalk CT.

**Q: can you please tell me who makes the chandlier** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Venfield Designs in NYC

**Q: what is the paint color?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: I don't have that information any longer, but I believe it was a BM color. There are a lot of options along within BM colors along with FB and Great Paints of Europe that are close to it.

**Q: I love this sofa!** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you please tell me the source? Dimensions? So beautiful

A: I don't have the dimensions but it's custom sized anyway. Through a company called "Brownstone."

**Q: who makes the fabric used on the loveseat? and area rug? Gorgeous** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Area rug was found in a local store in CT, named Lillian August, the fabric is one I would have to go back to my records on.
