> We had a really poor experience with Dexter Builders. We hired them to do a kitchen and bath remodel. Poor communication and poor planning led to lots of mistakes during the project, and lots of conflict with our project manager. We lost a lot of sleep because of this over the course of the 6+ months they worked on our home. One of our biggest disappointments was Tony Push, a partner in Dexter Builders. We appealed to him for help early on, after too many screaming matches with the project manager had us fed up. He said he'd come talk to us. He never showed up until the very end of the project, when we were having yet another conflict with our project manager about yet another Dexter Builders mistake. Even then, Tony was very confrontational and unprofessional, leaving me feeling like he wouldn't have helped matters even if he had shown up months earlier when we first asked for help. I would not recommend Dexter Builders to anyone.

> Had a serious project with someone running into my garage through a brick wall.
> Dexter builders were great. Not only did they present a reasonable bid, they did a wonderful job. We had to use the framing guys, the Dexter block guys, drywall and finish carpenters. Every one of them were professional, personable and proficient at their skills.
> Scott LaCoe did an amazing job at coordinating the entire project. Even with construction materials delay they kept us informed and the project moving along. Marcus was the initial carpenter who supported that apart of the building well. The framing guys arrived with the new windows that needed installed. Then the Brick guys came and Greg was a master at his brick-laying craft. This was followed by the drywall guys who made the repairs disappear. Mark who was the finish carpenter was an absolute perfectionist at his job, the wood work looks amazing. Steve the painter followed with his excellent finishing work.
> My wife and i are so thankful we hired these guys. All of their specialties are inhouse or are contracted to guys they know well. The work was done excellently and their work ethic and professionalism was unmatched. They finished the job for the estimated cost. only delay was getting the windows in from the supplier due to COVID19. We are very thankful for Dexter Builders, if we have another construction job they will be our first call. I would recommend them to you without any reservations.

> We are very happy with the job Dexter Builders did for us. They remodeled our upstairs laundry closet by expanding into another closet. Their attention to details included reusing molding from inside the original closet on the outside of the closet. That way it matched the trim in the rest of the hallway. Jeff also adapted an old door to replace a gouged one. Creative and money saving! Great job.

> Dexter Builders did a significant remodel to a 25-year old home we purchased this year. They removed interior walls, installed wood flooring, built a new laundry room, added new kitchen cabinets, did extensive electrical, plumbing, and mechanical upgrades, and installed a new roof. All of their service personnel and sub contractors were polite, hardworking, and skilled in their craft. The project manager and senior management were attentive to our needs and responded quickly when the occasional difficulty arose. We thought the price charged was fair and the company ethical in its business dealings. We would use them again.

> Dexter Builders did an outstanding job in remodeling my bathroom and building two new closets in a bedroom. Everyone I interacted with was helpful and knowledgeable. Every time I had a question Rachel responded immediately. The project was finished on time, the work very well done and they really left the house spotless. Highly recommend.

> We used Dexter Builders to do a kitchen remodel. They were great to work with and very helpful in making the decisions needed for this remodel. They were also prompt when sticking to the projects timeline and fixing any issues. Working with the whole team was an awesome experience.

> I'm surprised to be called on to write a review. On the whole this project was unsatisfactory. The job met a significant delay, caused in part by a late shipment from the manufacturer. There were serious problems in workmanship, but luckily they didn't completely ruin the job. The carpenter damaged two areas of drywall. Dexter Builders worked with me to adjust my final bill by a modest amount. I was disappointed that they contacted me for immediate payment of the very small balance due. I understand that it's customary to complete payment on a job as soon as the project is complete, but under the circumstances a tactful delay in calling for the final check would have been a demonstration of good will on their part. I would not recommend Dexter Builders.

> When we moved into a previously foreclosed house that had extensive damage, Dexter Builders helped to restore the first floor and completely gut and redo the entire basement - which included a living room area, home gym, bathrooms, and bedrooms. We had the pleasure of working with Tony Push and Gary Woelke who were very responsive and detail focused. The subcontractors they use were all dependable and friendly. Everyone worked hard to get us into our home as quickly as possible. They did a fantastic job - we love our home!

> Hired Dexter Builders for a renovation project of 4300 sqft of office space. They did a great job and completed work on time. Highly recommended!

> The procedure of getting the materials, design and process was clear. They helped move appliances out of area and placed and installed back in at job end. They were always a phone call away and very quick to return any messages. They hired talented installers for the tile and the job was so professional and beautiful. Their job enhanced our home and we love our tile floor.

> We had a master beroom, bath & walk-in closet added to the main floor of our colonial home. Working with Dexter Builders was an exceptionally wonderful experience. Everything was done exactly the way it should be done...and any flaws were fixed immediately. Everyone who worked on our addition was friendly, respectful and very skilled. It was amazing to see such a well run company. In the future, if we need anything done to our home, we will go directly to Dexter Builders...no bids from anyone else. Their honestly and integrity is noteworthy. One of the owners, Tony Push assisted us with choosing details that we wouldn"t have known about to chhose. He really was invested with our project and the outcome was beyond our expectations. Gary Woelke was the foreman of our project and he made sure every detail of the project was foreseen and taken care of. His positive nature and desire to make everything perfect made every single day of construction wonderful. We feel so lucky to have found this outstanding company...and we are happy to tell anyone who wants to listen!

## Community Q&A

**Q: What are the dimensions of the room?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: This portion of the addition and remodel was a roughly a 20x20 family room or living room area off of the expanded and remodeled kitchen. Its about 400 SGFT. Thanks for your question!

**Q: Need wall art design opinion** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hello Everyone!
We are trying to make a decision on a new piece of artwork for the wall on our staircase. There is another abstract piece of art in the room adjacent to the foyer area where this art will be placed. Our concern is having two similarly themed pieces so close to each other (although each piece is uniquely different) creating a "too much of the same thing" look and feel.

The attached pictures show a photoshopped look of what the piece of artwork (looks like water) would look like on our stairwell. You can see the other piece of art I'm referring to in the room with the blue chairs. Btw- the leaves on the stairs are not permanent (fall decorations).. ;-)
Do you think this looks ok or is it too busy with too much of the same theme and colors??
Thanks in advance for your comments!
Mike

A: Hi Mike,
Consider a 3D pieces of art up the stair way so you don't have 2 rectangle abstract pieces competing in you line of vision.

**Q: House Remodel** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can i know the estimate for the complete house remodel for this property? I like the layout and might want to use Dexter Builders for my remodel too.
Thanks

A: The final cost ended up being a little over half a million dollars. It was an extensive remodel were the basement was lowered and only 4 existing walls were kept from the original home. The location and property was perfect for the home owners but not the home so it was completely customized to be there dream home right down to the paint and doorknobs. Thanks for the question and let us know if you have any other questions

**Q: 15" or 18" trash pull out?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I am renovating my kitchen and have the option of doing either a 15" drawer base and an 18" trash pull out or a 15" trash pull out and an 18" drawer base. The 15" will be located to the left of the stove.

A: Definitely a "18 wastebasket cabinet. That will allow you 2 baskets, one for trash and one for recycle. 3 more inches in a drawer base will not be missed. The extra basket will. Also you do not want a 15" trash cabinet next to the "warm" stove.

**Q: Small Living Room Space - Need decorating/design help!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi! I'm moving into a new place and looking to decorate from scratch the living room.
Needs:
\- Desk space
\- LARGE sectional
\- Mounted TV
\- Warm & Welcoming
\- Stylish, but very comfortable
See photos and layout attached.

A: Place a sofa table under the window with the sectional in front of it and on the back wall. Place the Tv on the wall under the soffit . I think the deck could go next to the closest to the right of the bedroom door. Just my thoughts.

**Q: Need help with cabinet design in kitchen.** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I have the sink in the middle and want to build cabinets on either side of sink. I have 100 inches to the right of sink. I am putting a pantry at the end as it deadends into a wall. to the left of pantry will be a 36 inch fridge. How would you lay out cabinets on that side. On the left on the sink I have about 55 inches to work with. I want a cabinet for trash and need to get the dishwasher somewhere on the wall also. Please help. I was thinking a glass cabinet on the uppers on each side of sink?

I am thinking of either a 24 or 30 inch pantry. I do have a small pantry already in the kitchen. Thanks for your help!!!

A: I would not put a big pantry in a small kitchen. Possibly use a 15" pantry pull out at the end to keep the fridge from being placed on the wall. That will also help make the sizes of the wall cabinet a bit more balance on each side of the sink. So you have a range in this area as well?
