They arrived very quickly to take a look at the project and provide a quote. The designer and our main contact, Tina, was very polite and professional and designed a layout which was even superior to our original proposal. After comparing the 2 options, we moved forward with creating a peninsula instead of an island to maximize space but still have that modern touch (and a great spot for our daughter to eat). We made all our final decisions for materials with Tina which was very easy in their large showroom with private bookings. The quote provided was very detailed and transparent which we really appreciated and the final price was very fair for the quality of work and materials. > The project started less than 5 months after we signed off on our contract, which was even sooner than anticipated. > > The project lead Spencer and his experienced colleague, Patrick, worked for about 7 weeks on the project putting in engineered hardwood, adding a new ceiling with pot lights and hanging lights, installing oak cabinets as well as putting in new ceramic tiles in the entrance and kitchen. They coordinated the installation of the countertop, sink, gas range and fridge with water line and took care of every other step to finish the whole floor minus any painting (which I was happy to do myself). Everything looks great as you can tell the team really prides themselves on the small details and overall flow of the home. I especially love that the flooring and tiles required no transition pieces. The team has great work ethic, working 8-4 pretty much each day on the site, ensuring the project was done in a timely manner. Everyone with Heritage Kitchen is very friendly and easy to work with, including contractors such as plumbers and electricians. They also were very quick and willing to make any small fixes/corrections that we spotted before the job was 100% complete. This kitchen in Brockville Ontario is also one of our favourite creations. This granite is called Crema Bordeaux. It has hues of cream, gray and butterscotch as well as streaks of black and raspberry. The best granite selections are the ones that tie together the other components in the kitchen such as cabinetry, flooring and backsplash. Lighting (both under-cabinet and ceiling recessed) is also very important in drawing out the multitude of colours in the countertops. **Q: Kitchen cost** *(in Photo Questions)* What would the approximate cost be for this kitchen configuration excluding appliances? We are doing a new build in Westport, Ontario. I realize you can't give me exact, but an idea would be helpful? A: Hello Helene, The cabinets in this kitchen would cost between 15-16K. They are maple with a lacquered finish called Seashell (an antique satin white solid colour). Countertops would be additional, ranging from 2400 for laminate, 6300 for granite and 7800 for quartz. We have a 13x15 space to work with A: Hello Michelle, This is a modified Brunswick pattern using a tile series called Pasha Antico Travertina by Eurotile. I don't believe this colour is still available though. **Q: How high should kitchen cupboards be?** *(in Design Dilemma)* We are having cupboards built in our new home. There are 8 foot ceilings. The designer has asked if we want the upper cabinets to end 84 inches or 90 inches from the floor. There is a crown molding on top. With the higher cabinets we would have abut 3 inches from the ceiling to he top of the crown molding. What would look best for a kitchen? The cost is the same for both. A: Our standard practice is to use a 36" upper placed at 90" above the finished floor. Then we install a 4" plain vertical fascia on top of the upper. The crown moulding, which is usually 3-4" in height, is installed against this fascia and tight to the ceiling.
