Hope this helps! Lori Drinkwater, Fresh Look Design **Q: Colour on walls of Blackmore Family Room** *(in Photo Questions)* Hello, I have been living in our current home in Heritage Lakes since 2002. Upon purchase, I was ecstatic as it had many of my wish list needs. While I will always love things about this house, unfortunately I have become very discouraged because I know it deserves to be great but not being able to overcome certain challenges, I remain extremely discouraged because and have since 2003 as they remain unresolved and are eroding my already questionable self esteem. That does not mean I do not have ideas, however, since I became disabled, my creativity and decisiveness have evaporated with my former abilities which leaves me questioning and doubting my ideas. Some are likely difficult for many as well however others are a result of a onetime OCD person doubting all my ideas due to fear of making costly mistakes. When I decided I could no longer look at what were once benefits such as the historic white paint I stare at daily in every room but my daughter's old bedroom, and another bane of my existence probably equally as offensive as the paint colour is the once costly extra at the time the house was built; orangy-red oak doors, window and door trim and baseboards. The one thing I really wouldn't want to change is the same coloured beautiful and sizeable oak mantle in the family room. That is the one and only one thing my husband and I do agree on. Apparently the oak package was a $10,000 add-on and like most men, my husband refuses to paint it white but is very attached to the colour blue. To make things even more difficult, he hates most of the colors you might pair with the oak. Furthermore, equally important is how do you create flow with colour as the family room is attached to the kitchen, with only a short stub wall dividing the two rooms. and are vaulted. In addition, the family room has a cut-out in the wall to the dining room as well as an open door way. Therefore, not open concept yet open to view for the majority of the main floor and even up to the top floor from the stairway that is open from the family room/kitchen. I have always addressed these issues in the past, however, I currently believe that these issues will never be resolved and I don't believe it is fair to this house to never realize some of the dreams I have had for it before we retire. Can you please explain to me your cost (whether per hour, etc.) and how we could begin a dialogue to see if we fit and then how to proceed. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. In this example the homeowner could have stained the top of their stair rail in the same color as the doors and trim. A: The homeowner had a limited budget so we kept the same ceiling.
