This would be our first major remodeling experience and where would we begin with a contractor to trust?? We were fortunate enough to have a neighbor who had previously used RaMcom. We were able to see the first class work and attention to detail that RaMcom put into their work. We began working with Kevin meeting to go over design and budget. Kevin was able to help point out areas and make suggestions that would help us to stay on budget but not take away from the quality of work or the vision we had. As we paid RaMcom for the labor only we were able to have many more options for design materials than compared to other contractors that limit you to just their selection of materials. Kevin & Joe communicated with us through the whole process in a professional manner. Always keeping us updated on where we were on our schedule. There were a couple of concerns along the way that Kevin & Joe both were able to quickly respond to and bring up suggestions that would help ease our minds and our worries be gone. They both were very respectful of our home making sure floors in the home were protected daily and the job site cleaned up above expectations. The 8 flat clavos at the top and bottom came from Wild West Hardware and the flush pull I can not remember where I ordered it from. You can search for "flush Pull" online and see similar styles though. **Q: New bathroom help** *(in Design Dilemma)* What can I do to make my bathroom more inviting? A: That is a very nice and inviting bathroom! I agree with Rapp, and Leelee's suggestions will add extra flair that can change with the seasons, current trends or your mood. **Q: New Master Shower** *(in Design Dilemma)* Our master bath shower is 20 years old. Without too much tile removal, what might we do to give it a more modern appeal. Right now, we are thinking of installing a vertical Ivory Pebble Tile from floor to ceiling near the shower heads and also having the same tile on the floor. We are thinking of removing the tile below the glass block and in front of the seat as well as the seat. What about installing a different tile from the floor up to the shower heads? Thank you for any ideas you may have. Michael Bruener A: Cut a large section out of a zip lock bag and then patching it. Take that bag and another that has not been compromised and fill them both with water. Which bag will you trust more to not leak over time? Any breach of a showers properly installed watertight seal will almost always not be as effective once patched. If you're willing to risk your time and investment by replacing only part of the tile and loosing that investment if it leaks and has to be redone then go for it. That's the only way to find out if your plan will work. **Q: brown sofa and wood walls?** *(in Design Dilemma)* What color carpet? Would these work together. Furniture has yet to be delivered. But would also like to order an area rug. Can some help with color scheme? A: You can always paint or wash the ceiling with white paint, it will lighten up the room considerable without taking away from the overall wood theme. **Q: Need ideas on updating my master bathroom** *(in Design Dilemma)* I need to to update my master bathroom before selling my home. The tub, sinks and toilet are mauve. The fixtures are brass. The shower is also mauve and brass. I'm looking for inexpensive ways to update this bath. Any ideas?? i will try to post a picture if I can figure out how. Thanks A: I would leave it as is or do a complete remodel. You will realize virtually no return on whatever money you throw at it by doing minor updates. Find out how much a completely remodeled bathroom will increase your homes value by talking to your realtor. Shop for low cost but nice materials and get a labor quote to compare and decide which route to take. A newly remodeled bathroom will please buyers, even if it's not necessarily their style. An outdated one will likely cause them to focus on the cost and inconvenience of remodeling which will influence their offer. **Q: Dryer vent advice please** *(in Design Dilemma)* Is it ok to run the clothes dryer vent behind the washing machine? We are putting in a new laundry room and planned to have the dryer next to the exterior wall, but the plumber put the pipes for the washing machine there. I'm not sure if he forgot or if that was the easiest way to run the pipes. Any help would be appreciated, Thanks! A: You can purchase longer length washer supply and drain hoses which will be long enough to put the machines where you want them.
