In addition to being energy efficient, using passive solar and green building practices, we had some very specific design ideas, but no way to translate any of it into a final plan.   - Description: This contemporary cabin has spectacular views up and down the river. It is designed as a passive solar house and also has an active PV system. The house has a main living area and master suite of 1150 sq. feet for use of a couple or can be fully occupied with a 300 sq. foot loft and 600 sq. foot guest wing with two bedrooms and a bath. There is also a three season porch and future decks to be built overlooking the river. Exterior materials include stucco, metal and a cedar rainscreen.

The interior includes open spaces and details that have both simplicity and sophistication.

What kind of wood is this?

A: It was rough sawn fir with true board and batten. Stain I can't remember as it was a while ago.

A: Absolutely!

Can you please tell me what type of siding and stain this is?  Thanks!

A: The horizontal siding is Port Orford Cedar with a clear stain with the brand name Defy. The application is called a rain screen with black asphalt felt properly applied, vertical furring strips and then the horizontal siding with a 1/2" gap. It ends up with a really beautiful texture and depth.

What's the color of the house please?

A: The metal is a bonderized steel grey. The concrete is just regular concrete with boards placed in the forms and the stucco is antique grey. Thanks for your interest.
