**★★★★★ — Adam Protano, Feb. 2023**

> We hired Rich from Give Me Shelter for a laundry room renovation, and could not be more pleased with the result! He was very organized and easy to work with throughout the process and truly is a master of his craft. He handled everything himself from demolition, flooring, plumbing, tile installation and hanging our new cabinets. It was so nice to be able to work with him directly on everything rather than companies who send in various subcontractors to cover all the required aspects of a job. Rich does it all! Despite being a one man crew we were very impressed with his ability to complete all work on schedule as stated in the contract. He goes above and beyond what we expected and has an incredible attention to detail in all aspects of his work. The details of the job were laid out in the contract in an easy to understand format ahead of time, and his prices are very competitive. If you're looking to do home renovations look no further! You'll be hard pressed to find a better option than Rich. We are also planning a few other renovations this year and will be using him without hesitation for all of our home renovation needs!

**★★★★★ — Ro and N Duncans, Dec. 2022**

> Rich is fantastic, honest l , and dependable. He was so accommodating to my hectic and unpredictable schedule. I had a small flood from a clogged pipe, which caused some water damage. He fixed my basement ceiling , my floors on the first floor, my light fixtures, amongst other things!!
> Highly recommended!! You cannot go wrong with Rich Shorter!!

**★★★★★ — HU-773460843, June 2022**

> Rich did an excellent job. Our project required several trips to our home to work with other contractors. Rich accommodated our schedule and made working with the countertop installers a breeze. Rich stayed on target with our finish date. And if there were any items that needed additional attention, Rich came right back to make sure that the finished project met with our approval.
> Job well done Rich. We will be calling you again. Thanks

**★★★★★ — Victoria Innes, Oct. 2021**

> Rich did an amazing job installing a new tile floor in our bathroom. He is a perfectionist! Our house is a little older and the floor needed to be level before the tile could be installed. His attention to detail and commitment to customer satisfaction was just what this project needed. You can tell by the photo, perfection achieved! Be prepared to plan your project early, Rich is in demand :)
>
> Thank you, Rich. Hope to work with you again in the future.

**★★★★★ — Dionne Drayton, Jan. 2021**

> I contacted Richard in regards to installing new flooring, back splash, and a few other items that I needed done. My first project was to replace the carpet with flooring. Richard was helpful and very patient. I didn't know much about flooring, so he assisted by suggesting flooring based on the needs of my family. I was so pleased with the work! Richard is very professional, efficient and down to earth. He's very meticulous about his craft. In addition to the flooring, I had a backsplash added and a wall in my kitchen was completely blank, so that was finished with stacked stone, and it really made my kitchen pop! This was also a suggestion, which I couldn't be more happy about. He installed new lights in my kitchen, mounted my tv, installed a faucet in the kitchen, and a ceiling fan in my living room. I couldn't be more ecstatic with his work, and hopefully I can get on his schedule in 2021. I look forward to working with him again! :)

> Rich helped us after a pipe burst in our home. He replaced our hardwood and ceilings on our main floor, ceilings in the basement, and flooring and vanity in our 3rd level bathroom. He did great work! We were very pleased. He's hardworking, knowledgeable, honest and super professional. We look forward to working with him again in the future.

> The contractor was on time and does great work. He has done my kitchen in the past so we had him come back and to our bathroom. Unbelievable job and great job meeting out tight timeline.

**★★★★★ — Denise Janowiak, Aug. 2020**

> I had several repairs that had to be made in order to go to closing on my property. My initial contractor dropped the ball and did not get the repairs completed by the deadline. I pleaded for an additional few days to get the repairs done. Rich Shorter at Give Me Shelter was recommended by a friend. I called him and he was able to get an estimate to me, do the repairs and get the paperwork to me for closing within 72 hours. He provided top notch quality work. I will definitely use Give Me Shelter again!

**★★★★★ — Greg Altemus, April 2020**

> Rich did a great job on the tile work in our bathroom. We would highly recommend Rich for your next project.

**★★★★★ — HU-539048016, Nov. 2019**

> This is our first time working with Rich. He completed the powder room within 3 days. Excellent detailing on the herringbone pattern floor tile. The vanity top was updated, lighting and a fresh coat of paint. He does a superb job and we will definitely work with GiveMe Shelter again!

**★★★★★ — Danielle Martin, July 2019**

> Rich really helped my out when I was having trouble replacing the flooring in my new house. He set aside time to fit me in his schedule last minute to install the flooring and trim and the result looks amazing. He takes the time to make sure the work is high quality and the little extra touches really make the end result look even better.

**★★★★★ — Anne Cloud, July 2019**

> Rich is amazing. His workmanship is outstanding and is extremely thorough. Rich had several projects to complete in my home and I could not be happier with his work. He started the project when he stated that he would and the cost was reasonable for all the work that he did. I would highly recommend hiring Rich, especially if you want a job done the right way.

## Community Q&A

**Q: hi! where is the gray area rug from?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Like the pattern, need gray. Live in PA

A: Not sure where the rug is from. It was owned by the company that did the staging. Don’t recall which one that was.

**Q: Who makes the flooring?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you please tell me the brand and where u purchased from.
Thanks

A: I’d have to look into it. I think it came from the PA Home Store in Feasterville, PA. It’s one of their water resistant laminates.

**Q: Kitchen remodel: shoe molding to match cherry floor or white cabinets?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are remodeling our kitchen:

The kitchen was a separate room from the living room/dining room, with a different floor. So we knocked down a wall to make it a more open, contiguous space and the floor guy came today to match the rest of the house's cherry hardwood floor:

The living/dining area floor has a cherry stain on the the shoe molding, matching the floor.
The floor guy said he would come back tomorrow to install a shoe molding to match the floor.
Part of me thinks it would be nicer to match the shoe molding to our white cabinets. But another part of me worries that it will be awkward if the cherry shoe molding abruptly switches to a white molding.

What do y'all think?

A: I overlooked that scenario. In that case it may be best to do it all to match the floor, so everything would look consistent. What I thought was a wall, I now see is a fridge panel. I would still look at the option of doing a base there and on the side/back of the peninsula. It may not work as well as I'm thinking, but I would explore it.

**Q: My new master bath** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I am remodeling my master bath. I have porcelain marble like tile for most of the entire bathroom including a marble counter for the large vanity but purchased 2 inch square real marble for the
Shower floor. Now I'm wondering if that was a mistake. Wondering what type of grout is recommended...non-sanded, epoxy, etc. worried about water seep, etc. Should I switch to a porcelain for the floor? Problem is it would have to be a solid color. No idea what to do. Please give me your advise!

A: Marble will work on the shower floor. Apply a sealer to the marble. I usually use an epoxy grout, which doesn't need to be sealed and won't discolor, but a properly installed non sanded concrete grout will work fine (sanded grout may scratch the tile). If you use epoxy, grout smaller areas than you would with regular grout then clean up the excess. If you build the shower pan, I would recommend using a rubber shower pan liner (instead of felt paper) under your concrete (there are videos to get some info on that and you may need to change the drain). When you attach your backer board to the walls, keep your screws about 10" or so off the floor and I would also recommend using Schluter Kerdi membrane on the walls (with a non modified thinset).

**Q: Help covering electric box** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We are building this guest room in our garage and the electrician had to pull this line and a box for the air conditioner unit. Any ideas of how we can cover this up so it's not so conspicuous? Thanks for any advice!!

A: Unless you know it's there, you most likely won't see it. Either paint it the wall color or leave it how it is. You'll still see it every time because you know it's there.
