Our house is a 1950s era ranch rambler I guess you could say. After the windows are installed, we are wanted to have the house resurfaced/stuccoed due to settlement cracks, etc... in preparation for the house being painted after that. What is a better look ... a smooth coat finish or the skip trowel (uneven stucco finish). The guy is asking me what I prefer and I really have no clue? Also, should we have trim installed around the windows after they are put in? I've been noticing houses recently and some have trim, others don't so I'm assuming its a matter of preference. Would love opinions on whether window trim would enhance our home or not really worth the extra money and time. I also am needing ideas on paint color for the house. Am open to any color schemes but am leaning towards a more neutral palette that will make the house look fresh and updated... a little more modern. Also, need ideas on whether to use shutters with the windows, too. Thanks everyone! Our contractor had priced Andersen 400 windows for our project, but a friend of ours recently gave us a quote for marvin integrity windows that came in several thousand less WITHOUT installation. We prefer the Integrity bc they come in black exterior, which we love. Our contractor is fine with us going with marvin instead, but we'd need to have them installed by certified marvin window installers (The andersen windows were to be installed by certified Andersen installers). So we're outsourcing it. My question is - do any of you know what we can expect to pay per window? We have approximately 44 windows. Someone told me a cost per window, but it seemed really high. (we live in maryland). Thanks! A: A good question to ask is if they are pricing these windows for a dual pane or triple pane. If they are pricing for a dual pane I would say that is very high. Contact a local window depot if possible. You can get triple pane windows at a dual pane price. **Q: Hi, we want to replace a window & install glass blocks to our house.** *(in Photo Questions)* The wall will be part of the shower. The sales guy here in Adelaide tells us that we have to use the Alloy frame but it looks horrible. It seems from the pictures on Houzz that a lot of people don't use the frame, can you help.
