> A Picture Speaks a Thousand Words (and Nightmares).
> Imagine having a plumber come to snake a toilet only to have your house destroyed. Here are the lowlights about M&S, and its underhanded and rude Manager, Maurice Noori:
> 1)Scare Tactics to Extort Money: M&S told me that I had to pay them $11,000 to excavate a supposed sewage pipe in my front yard to address a simple clogged toilet and that I couldn’t use any water in my house until it was done.
> 2)Destroyed My Front Yard For No Reason: M&S took my money, dug a massive hole in my front yard (see photos), and then casually told me they messed up and that the supposed sewage pipe was actually just a 3 foot storm water management pipe that wasn’t connected to anything. I’ve since learned that no competent plumber should ever make this kind of mistake.
> 3)Destroyed My Basement With Raw Sewage: After destroying my front yard, M&S finally sent a plumber to snake the toilet. But because he didn’t take Plumber 101 precautions, he caused toxic, raw sewage to spew all over my bathroom floor, which then seeped into the two adjacent rooms, requiring massive remediation (see photos). He literally did nothing as this happened.
> 4)Tried to Dump Raw Sewage in My Yard: When the plumber began shop vacuuming the sewage, he told me the vacuum was full and that he would be back. On a hunch, I followed him out only to find him attempting to dump the toxic sewage into my yard!
> 5)Did Nothing to Help: To top it all off, Manager Maurice Noori was completely untrustworthy and totally unprofessional. After allowing M&S to cut up the drywall in my house in reliance upon the fact that they were going to repair it, Maurice Noori did a complete about face and suddenly told me that they would no longer be repairing the drywall or anything else. He left me to be the General Contractor of the disaster that M&S created. After Googling “Maurice Noori” I can see that I’m not alone in my opinion of this person. Maurice Noori appears to have left a long trail of disgruntled customers in his wake with his incompetence, attitude and seeming dishonesty. I cannot stress enough that Maurice Noori was awful and made a terrible situation (caused entirely by M&S) so much worse.

> Our power went out, so we called to have an electrician out. The receptionist said it would be $150 charged to have a technician come out after hours (even though we pay for the annual fee). We agreed. Once the electrician came out, he said it was $169 plus a "troubleshooting fee." We were not only misquoted by the rep but should have been informed of any additional charges. I understand there would be more; however, as a business, you should be more upfront with your customers, ESPECIALLY those that have put a lot into your business over the years.
>
> Immediately the technician was "trained" to grant an additional 10% discount when I brought this up to him. Superficially this seems like a good customer service gesture; however, it's a cover-up for the lack of integrity, and the sheer fact that they want to upsell you for services they choose not to disclose ALL BECAUSE YOUR POWER IS OUT YOUR TWO TODDLERS THAT NEED HEAT!
>
> When the power company came out they mentioned that a "good" electrician company would have told us to contact our power company first to save money. The receptionist only asked if "we called the power company first because some people do that."
>
> I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY...

> The reason for the one-star review is the two bad experiences that I encountered.
>
> 1\. 2020: I have my HVAC inspected every year. In February 2020, I had it inspected and the technician said the capacitor is going to die soon. He recommended purchasing a package that would cover the cost of the inspection, one more future inspection, and any repairs I may need. The technician even said even if the capacitor doesn’t break by April, just call and he will replace it. The cost of the package and the replacement cost of the capacitor is about the same so I agreed to purchase the plan. I called to request for another inspection in July (7/6/20). Even though I requested the same technician, another technician showed up. He checked everything and it turned out that the capacitor is fine. According to him, the other technician must have checked the wrong unit! I requested to speak to a supervisor. They told me they will talk to the other technician and will call me back. No one call me back so I called the main number on 7/11. Again, I was told someone would get back to me on Monday (7/13). I reached out to Maurice Noorie-customer relation manager on 7/14/2020. After multiple emails and refusing to refund my full amount, he refunded my payment for the full package. However, he still charged me the inspection fee, even though they inspected the wrong HVAC unit.
>
> 2\. Dec 2022: my HVAC was installed by M&S at the end of 2019. I have yearly maintenance. In Dec 2022, the indoor temperature would not go above 70F, regardless to the thermostat keeps sending signal to the heat pump. A technician was sent to check and informed me that there was nothing wrong with the unit. It is just the limitation of the heat pump of this unit which does not work when the outside temperature drops below 20F. This is completely new information to me and I had to pay M&S a service fee to tell me this. M&S did not inform me this prior to the installation, otherwise I would choose a different (and more expensive) unit. The thing is I paid for the installation and the yearly maintenance fee and once again was never informed regarding this fact. In fact, the maintenance was just done two months ago. I reached out to Maurice Noori because the technician who came to service gave me his contact information. Sure enough, Maurice Noori denied responsibility and refused to refund the service fee that I paid to have a technician came out to "diagnose" my perfectly functioning HVAC unit. Maurice stated that all heat pump units will not work under 20F while his senior technician told me differently. Not sure who to trust but I learn not to trust Michael and Son in general now.

> So, choose wisely!

> Do you need a plumber? THINK TWICE before calling Michael & Son Services! Why think twice? EXORBITANT, OUTRAGEOUS PRICING!
>
> We needed a new kitchen faucet installed that we had already purchased - a simple install that I could have done myself if I had the time, tools, and inclination. I also had a slightly leaking bathroom faucet that simply needed a new cartridge, so I figured while the plumber was at the house he could just do both repairs. I also figured this would cost a few hundred dollars with the service call, which was worth it to avoid the time and frustration of doing it myself. Instead, Michael and Son charged us more than $1100! Yep, more than a grand! As for the actual service call, the plumber also arrived outside the designated time window and did not call the correct phone number to notify us he was on his way.
>
> The breakdown of this outrageous charge: $325.00 to install the kitchen faucet WE PROVIDED. This took at most half an hour, including taking care of the next item: $408.56 to replace the two shutoff valves under the sink while he was already replacing the faucet. This is what annoyed me the most. These valves cost a few dollars a piece, but Michael & Son charged $204.28 each. This was clearly an up-sale to price gouge us a little more. Finally, replacing the cartridge in the bathroom faucet cost $277.64. I put this faucet in myself some years ago and for the price Michael & Son charged, I could have bought three complete new faucets and replaced the whole thing. Again, outrageous pricing, in my view.
>
> Now you might ask, didn’t you approve this work? My wife did, but she is not a plumber or familiar with related costing. In my view, the Michael & Son plumber—working off the company’s pricing scheme—took advantage of her. When I found out about the $1,011.20 charge, I called Michael & Son “customer service,” which in reality was just a receptionist on a complaint line who told me she would have the plumbing manager call me. He did not call at the time agreed upon with the receptionist and ended up leaving a voicemail and follow-up email. After hearing about my complaint and his review of the invoice, he refunded $220.00 because the plumber did not apply a second job (the bathroom cartridge replacement) “discount.” If I had not complained, Michael & Son would have just quietly pocketed that $220 as part of its pricing scheme. This refund took five days to refund to the credit card. So, in the end, the kitchen faucet replacement and bathroom faucet repair jobs ended up costing $791.20, which is better than the original $1011.20 invoice gouging but still exorbitant and outrageous for the work done in an hour or less.
>
> My recommendation: DON’T USE MICHAEL & SON . . . or at least shop around. I know we are DONE with Michael & Son.

> Consumer beware...instead of responding to the customers who are praising them; they should be taking accountability and making it right for the butchered jobs they had done to people's home. Professional marketing and techniques - too bad the quality of work do not reflect the service offered...consumers you were warned.

> STAY AS FAR AWAY AS YOU CAN FROM THEM!!! Where do I begin? I’ll just stick with the main issue in that I had a drip coming from the shower. I called Michael and sons. They damaged my shower trim kit from the tools they used to remove the handle. After that, they didn’t identify the proper shower cartridge for my shower. They told me it was Kohler and that they didn’t have the part. Spent over 3 hours looking for the part, and was unsuccessful in finding it. I got back home, looked at the shower trim kit (based off advice we got at Ferguson) to see if we could identify who the manufactured was and it was a DANZE. Why didn’t their plumber do that!? Just be careful when using them as they have been very rude and shady towards me when coming to a resolution for them messing up. Contact me if you wish to see communication from me and them regarding the issue. UPDATE: Maurice is the one who we have been dealing with who has been rude and nasty to me. Love how he responds on Yelp to showcase a "good face", however, he is the one we are dealing with behind the scenes. Again, feel free to contact me if you would like to see the email exchange.

> I contacted Michael & Son to repair my HVAC unit, which was only two years old, because our lines were freezing up. The first technician determined we needed more refrigerant, and we were charged $350. He didn't even stay long enough to determine if the issue was fixed. The lines froze again after he left so we called to have someone else come out. The next appointment was a no-show for a 10-12 window and I had to call after 12 when I didn't hear anything to reschedule. The following technician was over 3 hours late to our appointment. He couldn't figure out the issue and suggested that we may need to flush the system, but wanted to check if we had a warranty. After not hearing back I called the manufacturer myself and learned it had a 5-year warranty. After never hearing back from Michael & Sons we contacted another technician who quickly saw that the issue was that the coils were dirty, something that the first technician said he had checked. Not only am I out $350 dollars, my HVAC went un-repaired for almost a month. I am frustrated to have given money to a company with a blatant disregard for customer service and follow through. I tried to contact the company via phone and their website to resolve the issue but never got a reply. Even after filing a complaint with BBB they refused to earn back our business or try to make it right. Don't waste your time with this company.

> My experience with MICHAEL & SON was fabulous. They did exactly how I have asked for.
>
> I especially appreciated how neatly they finished the job. It's really rare to find a company that has such a high level of customer service and quality of work and at a fair price.

> Troy, restoration specialist, and Treyvon and Tom plumbing specialists, provided professional, skilled services in their respective areas of expertise. They arrived on time and stayed until the job was completed. They took pride in their work and made sure I was satisfied with the end result. They were very courteous and respectful.

> Abdul came out to help us when our hot water heater exploded on Halloween night. He arrived quickly and was immediately able to diagnose the problem. He had everything that he needed to make the repair right on the truck. He explained everything thoroughly and even helped us clean up! He saved our Halloween night. Thank you for all of your help!
