I believe architecture should be functional, efficient and beautiful to experience every day. Especially in my NYC projects, I think it's critical to consider ways to maximize space and storage and reduce clutter. I find joy in creating cozy nooks and celebrating the in-between spaces as much as a grand parlor. I look for opportunities to increase natural light and fresh air as these help connect buildings to nature and neighborhood. **Q: Can you please tell me more about the cork floor?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Hi Tyler, thanks for inquiring. We used a 36" x 12" floating plank cork floor. Assembly is tong and groove. This color is natural but there are many finish options that appear stained, bleached, etc. We used this over hydronic radiant heat as cork expands and contracts evenly and there is minimal separation between the planks (unlike wood). It's really durable but for extra protection we coated it with a matte Bona sealer which had a bonus effect of making any seams virtually disappear. We were really happy with this application and it's both eco friendly and cost effective too. Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Is there blue anywhere else or just the cabinet?
I have blue on my center island cabinets and am trying to figure out a backsplash. Counter top is Cambria style pella. Thanks

A: Your question went directly to me since I uploaded this photo from a desktop folder of photos I had previously saved for 46 Barry. No, I don't think there is any other blue in this kitchen other than the base cabinets. Looks like they used either Carrara marble or the quartz looking equivalent (as you selected). This back splash looks to be a shiny bright white subway tile.

A: Hi. The tile background appears off-white but we'd have to look up the specific tile and inquire with the manufacturer or supplier.

**Q: What is the material of this tile?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: The material is encaustic, ceramic tiles in which the pattern is not a surface glaze but created by different colors of clay. The pattern appears inlaid into the body of the tile, so that the
design remains as the tile is worn down. This is similar to the tiles you see throughout Morocco, Cuba, Spain, etc. Their beauty and durability makes up for the initial expense.
