**Q: Miele DW Circulation Pump or Motor going bad with loud noise?** *(in Appliances)*

Last year my 7 year old Miele DW started to have issues with with water filling, and I ended up replacing the Solenoid in the Water Valve as shown in this thread:

It had been 11 months now, and it has been working fine.

But last night, I noticed that when the unit is running (circulating the water) there was a loud sound that I NEVER HEARD BEFORE. I checked everything, the basket that you pull out, the non-return valve that has the metal ball in it, the impeller motor under it, and the circulation by sticking a fork in there, but the sound was still there.
I opened up the small service panel located in the front of the unit (where the toe-kick is) and teh sound is coming from something in there.

I am unsure if it could be either the circulation pump and/or motor?

I was going to run the Miele DW Cleaner (but had to order it) and see if that would do anything, but probably not.

I will try and post a video later so you can hear the sound. It's very loud, and I've never heard this before in the 8 years that I've owned the unit. If it is the Circulation pump or Motor, I guess the best thing to do would be to contact Miele  (since it has to be ordered from there, not sure of the cost) and try to install it myself before having the expense of their repair tech. When I called them a year ago about the water inlet, they wanted $120 for a Diagnostic Fee for a tech to come out and find the problem and order the water intake hose & solenoid, then $200 for part and $80/hr labor (about $400 total). So I did it the other way for about $40 total in parts.
But if this turns out to be the Circulation Pump or Motor, there's no getting around having to buy it from them, and try to save by replacing it myself.

A: I wound up in the same situation. I bought another Miele, but since mine was only a few years old and I had just paid hundreds for service that was useless, I called them up and they gave me a big discount on a new unit. I had to do a LOT of complaining. The motor on this makes a bzzzttzz sound too, so I'm afraid this may early one day as well.

**Q: Yup, same issue with our deck house** *(in Photo Questions)*

Our was disclosed by the sellers, and taken care of but our entire deck had to be removed, and 2 beams that went under the  living room were partially replaced with new sections "sistered" on. Additional columns/posts were put under the deck and all of the exterior exposed beams were topped with copper flashing before the decking was put back on.

A: Well the beam broke because the tree fell on it. I'm 100% sure that an interior beam breaking from a direct tree hit could be repaired as well. I'd rather have the beam break and everyone and everything be safe rather than the carnage more traditional construction might have. As for purchases… windows, new decking, interior doors, baseboards. Not everything matches so I improvise as I can, but much of it does. Just give them a call.
