Residential landscape design and build is my passion and I bring that passion to every project that I have the honour to work on. I work primarily on southern Vancouver Island and in the lower mainland but have been known to stray into the Okanagan and Alberta. 

My designs are inspired by three things:  the architecture of the home; the nature of the site and the clients personal style. I strive to use locally sourced materials and fixtures in my designs whenever possible.  I enjoy creating special outdoor spaces for my clients and their families to escape to.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Dimension question** *(in Photo Questions)*

You mentioned using outside edge of fire pit to rest feet on.  I was planning to do the same.  What distance between fire pit edge and bench edge did you use?  Thanks.

A: Hi, The cad drawing is on a hard drive in storage so I'm going from memory - the space is approx 2'-6".  The best thing to do for planning is to mock up the space and see what is comfortable for you. Circulation space is usually 3' so I usually start there. Hope this helps you.

**Q: Can you tell me the inner and outer dimensions of the fireplace?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Outer dims 4'-6" x 8'-8"; Inner dims 1'-10" x 5'-8" tried to make the top as wide as possible for use as a table. Also had to make the edges line up with other features in the landscape so that it all read properly.

**Q: Bench plans anywhere?** *(in Photo Questions)*

i realize the bench is custom but do you know of any instructions/plans anywhere online?

A: I don't know. I drew the plans and the builder built it. Try a Google search for built in bench plans.

**Q: What kind of drainage system did you use for the court?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: the drain is a trench drain leading to a catch basin which connects to a 4" pipe. the pipe can be blocked through the catch basin to flood the surface for skating in the winter. The sport court surface is rated for really cold weather and it is safe to freeze it in the ice.

**Q: How did you do the lighting under the steps?** *(in Photo Questions)*

**Q: Who made the fire pit?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can this be a water feature also? We are in CA and looking for a custom water feature just like this.

A: It was designed by me and cast in place by the contractor.  It can easily be modified to be a waterfeature.
