> In response to Pennings I hope anyone who chooses to work with them reads the fine print. We were lied to and hope nobody else gets taken advantage of. Their in lieu of payment is due to the fact that they agreed on a payment versus us taking them to court for trying to charge us for things that were never done.  There are emails and pictures proving this. Unfortunately for us things came crashing down from them after the fact in ways we never could imagine. They never contacted us or tried to make anything right. If anyone is considering using them I would be happy to show you their final product. They were very good about masking things behind the walls. The pictures shown are only a few of the issues that we've had to deal with. They are right in the fact that I think nothing but the worst of them and hope to never see them again and yes I will make sure if I can help it that more people are not abused by this company.

> As we responded to her husband’s earlier review: Pennings & Sons is not infallible, however, we continue to regularly do great work and are pleased to provide a comprehensive Limited Lifetime Warranty on all new and major remodeled homes for work that we contract. This is attested to by the profusion of other reviews you will find online. Due to several factors, this project proved extremely challenging, and one in which the Owner chose to release the company of all future and past responsibility for the project in lieu of payment for work completed. Some issues came up afterwards (which unfortunately happens sometimes in construction projects) and the Owner apparently is unhappy with the settlement they chose. When offered to continue the discussion about it prior to this posting, the Owners chose instead to take their frustration to the web in two separate reviews. We take all reviews seriously and learn what we can from each one.

**Q: What are the secrets to Gothic gingerbreading?** *(in Photo Questions)*

We're building a Carpenter Gothic in East TN.  My father-in-law bought me a scroll saw for Christmas so I can design and make my own gingerbreading. The framers are working on the second story walls so it won't be long now until I have to get started. Do you have any pointers? I would appreciate anything you could share!

A: I have researched historical photos.  This home was modeled after an actual historic home.
