The materials were delivered on time, and up the stairs to the room (wow....that saved my old back). I chose to install it myself, and I would have say this easiest hardwood install I have ever done. The pieces were long, and straight, with almost perfect machining. The floor just fit perfectly together! No, pushing or prying warped boards, and almost no waste! > 1/2 this floor is installed over an electrically heated low voltage system (glued and nailed), the other 1/2 more conventionally. Does it really have to sit in my house for 4-7 days before the guys can lay it? They are ready for it now. Advice from the pros? A: This is so commonly misunderstood, we made a video to help! :) **Q: Which wood for plank floors: maple, walnut or oak? BIG area (1100 sq')** *(in Design Dilemma)* OK...had to kill the idea of Brazilian cherry floors (aging red did me in), and am looking for another flooring...solid wood, at least 4" wide planks, sustainable, not too reddish or yellowish. Down to maple, walnut and oak. I love hickory but it's a little too random and spotty for us. SO....if you had to do a great room (living/dining) and an adjoining master bedroom (with mission oak furniture), what would you do? Want something timeless but, hopefully, not boring.
