> We had friends who had used Western Design to design a new home and we liked what we saw. So we talked to Western Design about a remodel to our 1980's vintage house to gut the kitchen, dining room and living room areas and open up this entire space. The house had interesting curved arch features in the doorways and Elvin developed several options that showed ways to incorporate this feature into the final design. This turned out great. We also did a complete remodel of the Master Bath to make it wheelchair accessible with a roll-in shower and a separate toilet area. This also turned out fantastic. We LOVE the results and our friends are amazed with the transformation of the areas. The plans were complete and there were no issues with Plan approvals from the City. And the design and construction costs stayed within our budget.

A: All cedar (real wood).  This view is showing a Board on Board pattern.

Are they overhead or double doors?  What are they made of?

A: The car doors are overhead doors (wood overlay).  I don't know who the supplier was.  The loft doors are faux, trim only.

**Q: Washer and dryer platform** *(in Photo Questions)*

I really like the tile platform the washer and dryer sit on. How high is the platform built up?

A: About 12 inches is standard, but in this case we kept it a little lower to match the base molding.  Any height that is comfortable will work as long as the washer drain height is correct (check with the  manufacturer to confirm what height is necessary for the unit.)  We typically specify that the drain be located a generic 30" above the floor or platform/drawer.  This seems to work with most manufactures.

A: The deck surfaces are standard concrete pavers.  Thanks for your question.

**Q: ceiling technique** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the ceiling style/detail called?

A: First, thanks for your question. The ceiling is a faux spaced sheeting.  Spaced sheeting was typical used on roofs with wood shakes.  The spaces allowed air to dry the shakes.  You can see this in older barns and out buildings.  This look is a more modern and cleaner version of that building technique.
