> We used Fick Bros for many years across the span of three houses, including annual service plans (which I would not recommend).  During the annual "maintenance", they review your roof and offer suggested repairs, which are often very expensive.

> We moved forward with most of the repairs, spending tens of thousands of additional dollars.  In one case, I agreed to replace copper vents on three chimney caps.  They only installed two!  And each was thousands of dollars.  Luckily the one they "forgot" was very visible from the ground.  Upon calling the manager, he said they would have noticed (but the team finished and a bill was already sent to me!).  Impossible.

> Once you sign up for annual maintenance, they dispatch a team regardless of whether you agree to it and charge you accordingly.  Upon replacing my roof (with a different company), I called and specifically said to remove me from further maintenance.  Once again, a truck with three guys showed up.  Luckily, I was home to cancel it, or surely I would have received a large bill.

> Called for a roof replacement ESTIMATE and they sent two guys out and later invoiced for a $150 service call.  At no point did anyone mention there would be a charge.  Why would there be for a free estimate??  I see another person was stung by this in their review.  Every single contractor I've ever worked with does an evaluation with sales people before sending out workers.  Fick has never worked on this house before but did some substantial work previously for us at our primary residence and all went fine.  They made no repairs in the 15-20 minutes they were there, and didn't even take a tool up with them.  They just took measurements and photos to price up a new roof.  They said a salesperson may call but probably not since they had everything needed for a new roof estimate plus chimney work. I just called a second time and they are insisting its a service call and to call back if I want an estimate.  At no point was I informed this was anything other than an estimate.  Argumentative and they're passing the buck back to job scheduling.  I'm supposed to pay a fee for the scheduler's mistake?  Was it intentional?  I'm starting to consider this was not a miscommunication.

> Fick Bros. has a reputation for excellent work.  Our experience of their work, from start to finish, met and surpassed that bar.  We had them rebuild our chimney from the roofline up, rebuild and repoint our front brick stairs, install a slate roof on our foursquare, and install three flat roofs on extensions.  The masonry worked commenced in November, 2012, and the roof work was done in January, 2013.  We had specific requirements for construction under an agreement with the Maryland Historic Trust.  Our mason, Todd Rhodes, did an amazing job:  the front entryway looks brilliant, perfect but not brand-new.  You'd never know it had been redone.  Likewise with the chimney.  Our roofing foreman, Steve Patrick, was kind and professional in every respect, and carried out the job superbly.  Along with the roof and gutters, we replaced our eaves and a lot of rotted wood on a side porch.  Retrofitting all of these not-so-square spaces is not an easy job, but Fick Bros. completed the work beautifully.  They know the basics and they execute the details.  Their commitment to your job is total.
