We replaced two small vanity tops in bathrooms recently. In one of the two bathrooms, we installed marble. When the installers drilled the hole for the faucet, two hairline cracks occurred. One in front of the hole and one in back. That same evening I sent photos to my salesperson and the next day she agreed to have me pick out a new slab. As an option, Stonecrafters agreed to issue us a very small refund if we kept the marble top and they would fix the cracks. However, the tune quickly changed when the office manager, Gabi, found out my wife signed the release form agreeing their work was satisfactory (she signed the release without closely inspecting the tops). > The company now claims we damaged the sink, claiming our plumber cracked the marble when installing the faucet (we have yet to install a faucet. In fact, there was no plumber ever called). > Yesterday, Gabi explained to me that because we signed the release form she was under no obligation to do anything for us. However, as a good faith gesture, she would send someone out this morning to "fix" the cracks. After the appointment time came and went I called only to find out that they could not come out today after all. I was told they "may be able to get to it later this week" as they were "backed up with work from very good customers." I was promised a return call right away but five hours later no call. At this point, I do not expect a call and have written this off as a terrible experience. > Needless to say, this is a company we will never do business with again. **Comment from Stonecrafters USA INC:** > Hello Mr. Maran. Regarding the Installation and Acceptance and Project Approval Form, all clients are informed of the agreement and are given the opportunity to approve of the install and quality of work. We regret the lines of communication were not fully open during this approval process, in the future we will take further steps to avoid miscommunication. Lastly we are happy we had the opportunity to resolve the issues with you and were glad to repair the crack and hope you enjoy the cutting board as well. When they came out to do the actual install, Junior, the installer, noticed that the base cabinets were not level. He notified me of the issue. I called my contractor who came out. They discussed and determined the cabinets needed to be raised while some of the issue could be addressed by the Stonecrafter team. After the cabinets were adjusted, the team came back out and finished the install. Before leaving, they double checked the range opening and trimmed a 1/8" off the granite to ensure the unit would slide in without binding.
