They did a major remodel of our 1600 sq ft. home (addition, kitchen and bath remodels, new HVAC, etc.) over 9 months. During and after construction, we experienced three avoidable water incursions– twice during roof build and replacement, despite clear storm warnings,–leading to wet hardwood floors. Then, within six weeks of completion of the kitchen remodel, a kitchen water supply shut-off valve (having not been replaced by the contractor) failed, and water leaked into walls, foundation and garage. Water remediation was required followed by the replacement of lower kitchen cabinets, wood flooring, sheetrock, and painting, at additional cost of over $20,000 and five weeks without a kitchen. Despite HB’s guarantee, they refused any responsibility for the damage or repairs. A new contractor said HB’s failure to replace those valves was “mind-boggling” and “irresponsible”. In the end, the design and workmanship produced a lovely home, but added to delays and overruns, these oversights and lack of attention to details made working with HB the most troubled and contentious project we have undertaken, among seven prior remodeling projects in four states. **★★★★★ — tess321, May 2024** > Starting a home renovation is exciting, of course, but also daunting, and anxiety-inducing.
