> Mike did an outstanding job with this small project. He arrived on time, answered EVERY question, and even let me set my own price! I would most definitely hire him again and recommend him to anyone looking for a competent professional.

**★★★★★ — Eve Siegel, Dec. 2018**

> Mike was great. We're so happy with the stairs he built us! He also tries to do everything the most cost effective way.

**★★★★★ — Jill Sauer, June 2018**

> Mike was incredible to deal with. He was very professional and communicative. He was prompt in sending a quote with two options for our job, one less expensive than the other. Arrived on time, worked quickly and left my home spotless. I would call on him again without hesitation. Highly recommend!

**★★★★★ — Ann Riley, May 2018**

> My project turned out great. We discusses what we wanted, they drew up some sketches. I was able to choose what wood was to be used and what color stain I wanted. Now I have a beautiful piece of custom furniture for my family room. Great experience. I will definitely use The Stair Repair Company again.

**★★★★★ — Kaisa Weaver, March 2016**

> I am very happy to have found Mike through Houzz. He's highly responsive (!!) and a great carpenter. He removed old fashioned knee walls from our front stairs and installed new railings on both sides. He also installed new tile in our entry. He's extremely knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with. He uses high quality materials. I wouldn't hesitate to use him again & recommend to others.

**★★★★★ — laura\_m\_kim, Feb. 2016**

> Mike did a great job replacing our banister and tightening up our squeaky steps. He was able to custom design our posts and knew what would look good in our house. I would recommend him to others!

**★★★★★ — morest, Aug. 2015**

> We needed to overhaul the entry area of our raised ranch by replacing and updating the banisters. Michael did a great job and we are thrilled with the result of his work. Not only is his carpentry work high quality, but he made suggestions that gave the new entry the clean, contemporary look we were hoping for. The work was also done quickly and communication with Michael was easy. I highly recommend stair repair.

**★★★★★ — Greg C, Aug. 2015**

> Mike is a great carpenter who does beautiful work! We hired Mike to remove and replace the stair rails, posts and balusters on our staircase. From the very being of the project Mike was extremely helpful with the ordering of materials and answering all of our questions about the project. Unlike most carpenters, Mike always made himself available via email, phone or text before, during and after the project. MIke had extensive knowledge of refitting the staircase and we are very glad we were able to find such a skillful carpenter. We look forward to working with Mike on future projects and would highly recommend him for a project you are considering.

**★★★★★ — easthampton3, May 2015**

> Beautiful work! Very trustworthy & honest!
> His expertise is carpentry is hi end. Our banisters & railings are sturdy and exactly what we wanted.

**★★★★★ — lesleykammerman, Jan. 2015**

> After months of searching for the right person we found Michael through Houzze. He is an extremely knowledgable, creative, and professional carpenter. We had previous design work done by a very reputable design firm and he discovered numerous mistakes in their dimensions. It would have been an incredible disaster had he not found their errors. He also came up with some wonderful suggestions in the design of the bannister and newel post. Our wine storage unit is a tribute to his talent. He is a pleasure to work with and we look forward to future projects together. Lesley and John Kammerman, Norwalk, Ct

**★★★★★ — rorys, Oct. 2014**

> I hired Michael to rebuild my backyard deck which was in need of a lot of repair. He suggested we re-utilize the wood that was in good shape in combination with new wood and railings to keep costs under control. I now have a beautiful deck that looks like new. He was very professional and knowledgeable and completed the project as promised and within budget. He also was very careful to clean up the worksite (especially nails) when he was done. I would recommend Michael to anyone who needs home repair or is considering home construction.

**★★★★★ — babean28, Oct. 2014**

> I needed a solution for corralling and organizing my family's shoes, jackets, hats and more in our mudroom. When exploring solutions from box stores or online, the quality and materials used were sub par and didn't fit our space. That's when we contracted The Stair Repair to build a custom built-in suited to our direct needs. The finished product was stunning and the quality of craftsmanship was remarkable. I highly recommend this professional and will continue to contract additional work with him in the future!

## Community Q&A

**Q: stair treads on tile stairs** *(in Design Dilemma)*

will adhesive on star treads adhere to tile?

A: Hi,
No, this would not be possible - you will need to remove the tile first. Tile being what it is, you will not find an adhesive that can adequately bind the two materials together. The tread would easily and quickly be broken or dislodged.
We're based in CT and provide services to the tri-state area. If you're located in our region and would like to talk about your options, or simply would like some advice, please contact us to set up an appointment and/or visit our profile here.
Thanks and good luck!

**Q: 12' ceiling, 71/2"space ceiling to top of window, can I do crown mold?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

A: Can you post a wider view of the room please Betsy?

**Q: Hi, I am looking for (2) 24 x 60 doors.** *(in Product Questions)*

I need this for a custom wall unit I am building. Can you build this size in either a plain flat door or a single panel shaker style in poplar? They don't need to be finished as I will be painting them.

Thank You!
Bob

A: Good morning Bob, we're located in CT and may be able to help here. We provide custom carpentry and design services in addition to specializing in stair and railing installs, and would be happy to work with you to create these doors. Please have a look at the closet doors we built for a client in Westport here: https://www.houzz.com/projects/2591673/custom-closet
Please view our profile, and feel free to contact us with any questions or to discuss your project in more detail.
Thanks,

**Q: New Master Bed/Bath/Closet Design Restricted by entrance/sloped roof** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi, We have a large area that has been finished over the garage that we would like to turn into a master suite by adding a master bath and walk in closet and are having some trouble coming up with a design due to the fact that (a) we can't change the entrance to the suite from the hall, and (b) the roof slopes significantly in the far left and right corners of the room and is pretty much unusable space (they are currently closets). Any thoughts on how you would use this space to maximize efficiency? Only thing we are certain of at the moment is that a free standing tub will go in front of the single window near the sloped roof. Thanks!

A: Good morning,
Can you provide photos of the space and exterior elevation? If it's in your budget, you may consider dormers to increase usable space and headroom.

**Q: Before and After: 1914's traditional master bedroom** *(in Before & After)*

Before: taken when previous owners were still occupying the house

After: removed old carpet and refinished original hardwoods (side note: replacing side table and fan very soon)

A: Great updates! The bed is beautiful, and the style both modernizes the space while keeping with the character of the home. Well done!

**Q: What is the name of the refrigerator used for this island.** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: I believe it was a DCS refrigerator
