We are so happy with the result, and all the collaboration with them. Their communications and clarity about cost and timing estimates ahead of time were excellent. Throughout the project they were professional, open, and did high quality work. All their employees, and the sub-contractors they hired, were seasoned experts who didn't cut any corners. > The work they did was to demolish a 2.5 story big chimney with two fireplaces, to replace wood structure of a wing of the house with ~20ft tall steel columns, and ~20ft wide steel beams, and to install big sliding doors, build new roof where needed, and install wood floors. They had great design instincts which made the result better than what we could possibly have hoped for. The planning phase took some time for us to nail down exactly how we wanted the house to flow. Stephanie, the head designer, worked tirelessly with endless revisions until we felt really good about how we were changing the layout. Working with her on choosing the finishes, which can be a nail biting experience, was wonderful as she was able to blend my style with her excellent taste and expertise. Once the demo was done we discovered huge wooden posts that had been covered up by a previous owner. This changed how we felt about the stain of the floors and the cabinets. I agonized over them and the team patiently stained a number of samples until I felt good about the decisions. Throughout the process, every person involved was friendly and wonderful to work with - from Sean's crew, the flooring guys, the painters and the cabinet maker - everyone was very pleasant and made a stressful endeavor feel less hectic. Sean estimated that the project would take 6 months to complete and 6 months from the day they started demo we moved in. Bart and Adam methodically worked through our punch list. We absolutely love the house and are really happy we spent the money and time to get it done. Every single inch of the house is usable and delightful. Thank you for trusting us with your remodel, its one of our favorites! **★★★★★ — Owen, Dec. 2020** > We recently completed a two phase repair and and remodel project with Gallagher Construction and were very pleased with the both the process of working with the entire company and the final result. Except for the being "only" satisfied with the final result on the hardwood floors, we would describe the rest of the work as perfect - and we have a pretty high standards. Our repair project involved designing a solution to a leaking Juliet balcony. It had been "repaired" twice before, once by the previous owner and once by us. Other contractors we talked to were afraid to take the project on. We wanted someone who could design a complete fix to the problem and not just apply a bandaid. Gallagher crushed this phase, looking at range of options, talking through our needs and designing and executing a solution that is both robust, functional, and fits with the character of the house. They provided an estimate with an NTE and got the work done on budget. My only issue during this phase was that it did drag on due to some issues with not having the right the millwork. Our second phase was a top to bottom interior refresh w/ some light remodeling. It involved replacing 50% of the lower floors to match hardwoods, remodeling a half bath, removing columns, redoing a fireplace, replacing all the carpet, painting all the trim, and painting every interior wall. This gave us a chance to get interior design help from Stephanie and test Adam's logistics skills w/ subcontractors. We also wanted to live in the house for as much as possible, leaving only for about 2.5 weeks during floors, carpet, and painting. Stephanie was helpful at getting us organized and picking materials that looked good. Adam was able to build and eventually share a schedule in CoConstructor that made it clear when we would need to be out of the house. Sean's visit during our project walkthrough was clarifying and helped us make the right call on getting a consistent floor (vs trying to match two different floor products). Once the project started, Adam & Tyler were aggressive about clearing blocks and keeping things moving. We have a high quality bar and a long punchlist, and Adam didn't hesitate to work to address things. One area we had a major challenge was achieve the result we wanted on our hardwood floor refinish. The subcontractor promised a result that they didn't achieve in their first attempt. Adam worked with us to get to a result that we were satisfied with (at no extra cost), but it's probably the only part of the whole project that I wouldn't describe as perfect. Everywhere else, we got a great result and this phase of the project completed within the estimated time. (Amazing!) A: We love these cabinets too! They are from @huntwoodjc and are the Oasis stain on maple. The warmth with a touch of gray is so versatile! **Q: How do you waterproof under-deck storage spaces?** *(in Photo Questions)* We need to create outdoor storage for tools, yard equipment, and sports gear (bikes, etc) and want to use space under our deck. Currently there is no hardscaping (just grass and dirt/mud) beneath the deck and water flows from above through slats in the deck. What are our best options for waterproof storage under the deck?
