We needed drywall and tape and fill for all the ceilings and some new and partial walls. Tom came out right away gave us a quote and was able to complete the job in 7 days for us even working on the weekend knowing we were time sensitive. The guys all did a great job and we are very happy with their work and would highly recommend this company. **Comment from Grindstone Renovation & Contracting inc.:** > Thanks for the work, was our pleasure and u guys made it easy. ### All 14 reviews **★★★★★ — Nitish, Aug. 2026** > We recently hired Grindstone as the general contractor for a full gut and remodel of three bathrooms in our home, and we couldn’t be happier with the entire experience and the final results. > > From the beginning, Grindstone was incredibly reasonable with pricing and very accommodating when we wanted to make changes along the way. We never felt locked into a rigid plan—they allowed us to fully customize virtually every aspect of each bathroom. Even with changes and adjustments throughout the project, they worked hard to keep the impact on our budget to a minimum. > > Communication was another major highlight. Tom was fantastic to work with and was consistently responsive, usually getting back to us within just a few hours. Having a general contractor who communicates clearly and promptly made a huge difference, especially during a project involving three complete renovations. > > We also really appreciated their attention to quality and current building standards. Since our original bathrooms were from the 1990s, Grindstone made sure the new work was brought up to modern code, including important upgrades such as individual shut-offs and other plumbing and electrical improvements. > > Every member of their team and every trade they brought in—plumbing, tiling, cabinetry, and electrical—was professional, skilled, respectful, and reliably on time. It was clear that Grindstone works with excellent associates who take pride in their work. > > Overall, we had a fantastic experience with Grindstone Renovations. They combined fair pricing, flexibility, excellent communication, high-quality workmanship, and great project management from start to finish. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a trustworthy general contractor for bathroom renovations or other work around the house. > > In fact, we were so happy with the experience that we’re already planning to have them back next year for additional projects! **★★★★★ — Justina B, Feb. 2021** > my husband and i bought an older townhome that was in need of some serious work - it was outdated and in really bad shape from previous neglect. kind of a huge risk but we couldn't be happier with the result! tom and his crew worked quickly and on budget and pretty much gave us an entirely new and updated townhome. tom is super responsive and is able to adapt to my last minute requests or decision changes with no problem. while every room is amazing, i am seriously in love with my kitchen with its beautiful cabinets (including under cabinet lighting!), glass backsplash, and all new appliances. i wouldn't hesitate to use grindstone renovation again or recommend them to anyone needing help with their home project, big or small. **★★★★★ — Patti Comeau, Jan. 2021** > Simply the Best > Emailed on a Sunday afternoon and Tom emailed me back in 15 minutes. Totally impressed just at that. > Our Master Bedroom shower leaked onto our dining room table below. Tom was at our place Tuesday morning, had a quote next t, they started the next Wednesday. Three bathrooms have now morphed into whole house renovation. All Tom’s guy’s and sub contractors are amazing. Couldn’t recommend them more. > Simply the Best!!! **★★★★★ — Trina Akehurst, Nov. 2020** > Tom & his team helped turn my reality into a dream. My kitchen renovation was done on time & on budget & is a total transformation. I can’t speak highly enough about this team. **★★★★★ — Jim Papadogambros, Aug. 2020** > GRINDSTONE RENOVATION turned our house into our home! > After researching and receiving several quotes for a full interior/exterior renovation on our 10 bedroom duplex we decided to go with Grindstone. > Initially we were drawn in by Tom's and Stavros' open communication approach and confidence. > The company came in and gutted the interior and renovated everything from floors to ceilings. With their innovative ideas, they redesigned our home. The scope of work was detailed and included new layout of our kitchens, new bathrooms, updated plumbing and electrical throughout, framing of new walls, drywall, flooring, pot lighting, new windows, door and window trims, paint, exterior landscaping and the list goes on. Their trades were very approachable, timely and respectful. > Their quality work added value and warmth to our home. > They went above and beyond our expectations and we are grateful for all their hard work and dedication. We would highly recommend Grindstone Renovation to anyone! **★★★★★ — Nathan Klement, Aug. 2020** > We initially contacted Grindstone for a quote on drywall alone but after speaking with Tom he gave us a quote for our entire project which was affordable compared to other contractors and he was able to start right away. Two months later our kitchen, living room, dining room, front entry, hallway, and stairs were renovated thanks to the Grindstone team! Job well done! **★★★★★ — Jay Tay, Aug. 2020** > Tom with Grindstone was involved in our major house renovation and did excellent work. He is friendly, professional, talented and our house looks great! The drywall is perfect and the other detail work is spot on. **★★★★★ — HU-519065997, May 2020** > The guys at Grindstone did an excellent job renovating my kitchen. I am impressed with their work. It was on time and budget. **★★★★★ — Jason Lintunen, April 2020** > Grindstone helped us with our long awaited renovation project. Professional from start to finish. Easy to deal with, accommodating, on time and on budget. Thanks to Tom and his team for doing such a great job! **★★★★★ — HU-360322220, Feb. 2020** > Hired Tom to look after our main floor reno which included removing two bearing walls. Tom has been great and his team has been very attentive to details. We are nearing the end of our project and I couldn’t be happier with how things are looking. Would highly recommend. **★★★★★ — HU-427226446, Jan. 2020** > Had to call Grindstone to come in and rescue my bathroom reno as the original contractor completely botched the job. Grindstone was very professional and came in on budget. They did what they said they would and couldn’t be happier! > Thanks again. **★★★★★ — HU-773513000, Jan. 2020** > I have worked very closely with Tom and the team at Grindstone, always extremely professional and able to keep projects on schedule and budget. I never hesitate to refer Grindstone as well as look forward to working with them on projects. **Comment from Grindstone Renovation & Contracting inc.:** > Thanks for the work! See you on the next one. **★★★★★ — HU-399284681, Oct. 2019** > I worked with Tom and his crew on a smaller renovation. This house had a lot of poor quality DIY work by people who weren’t so competent. Tom’s guys came in and very quickly transformed the depressing space into something very pleasant, clean and professionally constructed. Crisp corners, smooth walls, perfect bulkheads, respect for the existing features, and a complete solution. Great communication, responsive with helpful advice, and willing to help us reduce our costs. I would very happily work with this outfit again! ## Selected projects - [Living Room](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/living-room-pj-vj~6020347) - Location: Port Coquitlam, BC - Photos: 4 - [Bathroom](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/bathroom-pj-vj~6020346) - Location: Port Coquitlam, BC - Photos: 3 - [Kitchen](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/kitchen-pj-vj~6020345) - Location: Port Coquitlam, BC - Photos: 2 - [Our Work](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/our-work-pj-vj~5899291) - Location: Port Coquitlam, BC - Photos: 3 - [Hallway bathroom revamp!](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/hallway-bathroom-revamp-pj-vj~7858679) - Location: Coquitlam, British Columbia - Photos: 3 - [Garage build / front and back yard excavation Start.](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/garage-build-front-and-back-yard-excavation-start-pj-vj~6335096) - Location: Coquitlam, British Columbia - Photos: 3 - [Upstairs renovation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/upstairs-renovation-pj-vj~6335093) - Location: Coquitlam, British Columbia - Photos: 6 - [en-suite renovation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/en-suite-renovation-pj-vj~6335091) - Location: Surrey, British Columbia - Photos: 4 - [Pool house](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/pool-house-pj-vj~6335089) - Location: Not specified - Photos: 3 - [Ioco residence, 4 ft wet room shower bath area extension](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/ioco-residence-4-ft-wet-room-shower-bath-area-extension-pj-vj~6301430) - Location: Port Moody, British Columbia - Photos: 4 - Description: Clients washroom was very small, we ended up blowing out the closet demising wall , taking out the closet and going even 2 foot further into the bedroom giving them 4 feet of extra shower space - [Washroom expansion](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/washroom-expansion-pj-vj~6278928) - Location: Port Moody, British Columbia - Photos: 3 - Description: Clients had a small washroom we gave them 4 feet of additional space equipped with a wet room section stand-alone tub, shower head And everything brand new , pictures to come in the following weeks. - [Top floor renovation including wall removal](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/top-floor-renovation-including-wall-removal-pj-vj~6278927) - Location: Port Coquitlam, British Columbia - Photos: 4 - Description: Client wanted open concept , continuous floors, all new cabinetry layout, countertops with island, potlights and everything brand new. - [Compete top floor and stairwell renovation](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/compete-top-floor-and-stairwell-renovation-pj-vj~6240008) - Location: Port Coquitlam, British Columbia - Photos: 6 - [before and afters of 3 kitchen areas we did in a commercial office building.](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/before-and-afters-of-3-kitchen-areas-we-did-in-a-commercial-office-building-pj-vj~6211524) - Location: Coquitlam, British Columbia - Photos: 6 - [Quick vancouver small kitchen update](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/quick-vancouver-small-kitchen-update-pj-vj~6211520) - Location: Burnaby, British Columbia - Photos: 4 - Description: Clients had very old out dated kitchen.
