Founded in 2001, Amy Lau Design creates interiors known for their warmth, expressiveness and impeccable attention to detail. Amy has a reverence for the inherent beauty of natural materials, landscapes, and thoughtfully incorporates elements of each into every project. Lauded by Architectural Digest for her “All-encompassing vision of inspired, artful living that elevates mere finesse into the realm of pure magic,” Amy’s aesthetic embraces both art and design, where each personalized space is enlivened with dynamic mixes of vintage and contemporary pieces and site-specific commissions.

Amy’s portfolio of luxurious residential interiors includes an array of artistic and sophisticated homes throughout the world. The firm’s work has been featured in such publications as Architectural Digest, Elle Décor, House Beautiful, NY Cottages & Gardens, Martha Stewart Living, and Luxe Interiors + Design. Amy’s singular, successful approach to design and the curatorial arts has earned her firm many of the most prized awards in design, including the House Beautiful Next-Wave Award, Architectural Digest/AD 100 Award, ELLE Decor A-List, Luxe Interiors + Design Gold List and New York Magazine’s Top 100 List—an accolade Amy has received consistently since 2012.

The Arizona native developed a deep passion for design and honed her curatorial eye studying eminent historians. She received her master’s in fine and decorative art from the prestigious Sotheby’s Institute of Art. She then served as a director at Thomas O’Brien’s Aero and spent five years as the design director of noted 20th century specialist Lin-Weinberg Gallery in New York City. Amy is proud to serve as a Co-Chair of the ASPCA’s Berg Ball and as Co-Chair of the Van Allen Institute’s Program Leadership Council.

Amy Lau Design published a monograph in 2011, and Amy accepted an honorary doctorate from New York School of Interior Design the following year. She has designed spaces for renowned show houses like Kips Bay in New York and has created distinctive interior installations for Kohler, Bergdorf Goodman, Lladró, Baccarat, the Showtime television network as well as an exclusive boutique for Elie Tahari in East Hampton, New York.

For every medium, for every environment—and for every client—Amy’s highest mission and greatest achievement will always be to create livable, meaningful homes filled with harmony, artistic integrity, beauty and inspiration.

> Amy's knowledge of sizing & what will look great is always right-on. She is always helpful, smart, competent. She knew exactly what she was doing and did great work within the given budget. Her loving, supporting nature & brilliance makes client feel they are most important thing! I think all her clients will be happy with her work!

> We have had great experiences working with Amy Lau Design. We recently worked with Lauren, and she knew exactly what the client needed -- space saving furniture. She is very knowledgeable and has a great eye for design. Everyone at Amy Lau is incredibly professional and talented, and absolute pleasures to work with. Highly recommended!

**★★★★★ — Lightlink Lighting, Oct. 2013**

> Amy has a strikingly natural sense of color, form, texture and scale she creatively and uniquely applies to each clients needs. On top of that a deep sense of care accompanies her every move and decision, to a very very personal, soulful and artful end.

> I’ve worked with Amy and watched her business grow over the years. We met around the time we were buying our first apartment. Then we became one of her first clients, before she even had an assistant.
> Amy’s knowledge of sizing, and what will look good where, is always right-on. Coming in with her high-heels, she is always glamorous and very self-confident. But she did not hesitate to take off those heels, put on a pair of socks and go up a ladder as plaster fell from the ceiling. Some got on her sweater, but she didn’t care. She prides herself in doing heavy lifting and not being a prima donna.
> She and her team are great—friendly and always helpful, smart and competent. Phone calls and emails are returned immediately. I appreciate that level of service, and I appreciate the way she does business. Her integrity always comes before making a sale, and she’s always very transparent. She’s going to finish the job within your budget.

> We did a house in the Hamptons with another designer, and we would never use that woman again. However, it was pretty clear from our first meeting with Amy that we were a perfect match. She’s such a pleasant person with a positive attitude, and you feel her warmth. Amy is an exceptional businessperson with a real personality and an incredible aesthetic.
> When she designed our four-bedroom apartment on Central Park West, I really felt like she did it our way. We had short, efficient meetings, but I still felt like the project and each selection was very personal. As Amy found a beautiful pillow, a throw, or piece of art, you really felt she had an intimacy with the artist or artisans behind it.
> She understands that the goal is to end up with a beautiful, livable home. Amy obviously has an expertise in the Mid-Century period, but I believe our apartment is an eclectic combination of beautiful things that show nicely together. Whenever people walk in, they always comment on how beautiful it is. The rug feels good, the chair is comfortable, the art works with the space. We feel like we are living in a museum, but it’s incredibly livable. For my next project, there’s no question who I would call. I trust Amy, and I would never work with anyone else again.

> Working with Amy really taught me so much. After I asked her to look into the colors of Sonia Delaunay, Amy suggested we bring a pair of chests into our bedroom and lacquer them in blue. I said you’re out of your mind, but it’s actually fabulous when you walk into that bedroom. Her sense of color is a gift.
>
> Now the whole house is to die for. Each room is special, like nothing you have ever seen. She just made things sing, and there’s no way I could have done it without her. She was a joy to work with. She’s loving, supportive, and brilliantly talented. And no matter how busy she is, I never felt it. She has a way of making the client feel that they are the most important thing, that they’re number one. There was never a moment of tension. All the other clients should love her like I do.
