Joe and the team were very professional, prompt and friendly. They showed excellent attention to detail, answered all my questions and kept me informed. The site was left tidy at the end of each day. We love our new fence, are very pleased with the results and are happy to provide a 5 star recommendation. **★★★★★ — Neil Munroe, Dec. 2016** > I've worked with Year Round on 2 occasions over the past 7 years and can't say enough good things about the management and crews. Both projects were residential in nature and required extensive design & construction. In my case all aspects of the work down to the little details were well attended. The weather was the biggest variable and all changes, delays etc. were discussed in advance. > When considering a contractor in this industry look for a company that retains and promotes from within; Year Round does just this. 5 years between jobs and it was nice to see many familiar faces (foremen, skilled trades and labourers) attending the second project. As well as manpower they have a large, well managed modern fleet of equipment with experienced operators to meet their needs. > Excellent communication, onsite flexibility, changes and problem solving as required along with talented and hard working staff makes for less stress on the home owner. > Kudos to Joe and his team. **Comment from Year Round Landscaping:** > Thank you for the great review Neil, we are happy to have helped to construct the backyard of you and your family's dreams on two separate occasions! **★★★★★ — Klassen Photography, Sept. 2016** > I have had the pleasure of working with Year Round Landscaping on numerous projects this year, and each time I am absolutely blown away by their work! The way they have incorporated their design into the existing landscape is always incredible, and their workmanship is beautiful as well as functional. I have seen lots of retaining walls over the years, but Year Round Landscaping has some of the best I've ever seen from a structural and design perspective. I highly recommend the entire team and I look forward to seeing more of their work. **Comment from Year Round Landscaping:** > Thank you for the review Joel, we loved your photography work and are very enthused about the projects to come! You did an amazing job of capturing every detail. It has been nothing but a positive experience working with you! **★★★★★ — Ken MacLean, Aug. 2016** > I have worked in the construction trades for a number of years and it provides me the context to assess professional work. Simply, the experience of working with Year Round was extraordinary. > > Our backyard was ruined from one of Calgary’s early snowfalls and we used this as the catalyst to create a new backyard retreat. From initial design interaction, project budgeting and schedule, to work site organization, project change requests, and worker interaction every aspect of Year Round was professional. > > Our interaction with Joe, Mark and the work crew and the amazing results makes it easy for me to support and recommend Year Round Landscaping." **Comment from Year Round Landscaping:** > Thank you Ken, we are pleased with how your backyard turned out. Enjoy the rest of the summer on your patio! It was a pleasure to work with you. **★★★★★ — Wendy Griffiths, July 2016** > Joe and his team have been involved with our renovation project for the last year.....starting with excavating and building retaining walls, drainage design and concrete work in 2015. This spring... The Year Round team & Elise provided us with the landscape design plan and transformed our yard into a relaxing oasis. We couldn't be happier and highly recommend Year Round Landscaping and their team of professionals. **Comment from Year Round Landscaping:** > It was a pleasure working with you Wendy, we are very happy with the final product and hope you enjoy your outdoor oasis this summer! If you check out our projects we have posted your backyard! **★★★★★ — alexluc, April 2016** > Complete landscaping at our new home in Aspen, including retaining wall, irrigation and drainage, design of flower beds, planting of trees, shrubs, and flowers. Hired this year for lawn maintenance. This company provides exceptional service and employs true professionals. I would highly recommend them. **Comment from Year Round Landscaping:** > Thank you for a great review. It was a pleasure working with you! **★★★★★ — Gardenscapes, Feb. 2016** > I have been honored to collaborate on residential design projects with Year Round Landscaping for the past 4 years. The commitment from Year Round to complete a project to the highest possible standard raises the bar for quality landscaping in the Calgary area. The project management personnel are a pleasure to work with and I look forward to our continued partnership. **Comment from Year Round Landscaping:** > Thank you Elise your input into our projects we have working together on. We have found it to be helpful and we are glad to have you as a part of our growing team. **★★★★★ — Darrin Drall, Oct. 2015** > We contacted Year Round Landscaping in the winter/spring of 2015 after a recommendation from our home builder. Joe came out to meet us, view our lot and to discuss our needs and wants. He introduced us to Elise, his landscape designer, who then worked with us on those needs and wants to come up with a plan that was custom made for our yard. Elise then took us to view various plants, stone and other products that would be used in our design so we had an excellent visual of what it was going to look like. After a couple of iterations the plan was complete and ready for construction. > > Joe’s crew began the project in May and was complete by the end of July 2015 and on budget. All of the crew was very courteous, respectful and always kept the yard neat and tidy when they left. The scope of work included grading the front and back yards, removing some old tree stumps, installing a cedar fence with gates, cedar arbours, a feature wall that was constructed from stone of our old house, a back yard retaining wall, two stone patios, two composite decks, designer concrete borders around our front flower beds, large boulders for aesthetics, the planting of trees, shrubs, perennials, sod and installing an irrigation system and landscape lighting. > > The quality of the work was excellent and we have had numerous compliments from our neighbours and people passing by. Any concerns we had during the project were immediately addressed by Joe and both he and Elise have followed up with us to ensure we were happy. We would highly recommend Year Round Landscaping to anyone looking for a landscaping designer and contractor. **Comment from Year Round Landscaping:** > Thank you for the great review, it was a pleasure to work with you! ## Selected projects - [Full Landscape Reconstruction 1](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/full-landscape-reconstruction-1-pj-vj~1983955) - Location: Not specified - Photos: 9 - [Full Landscape Reconstruction 2](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/full-landscape-reconstruction-2-pj-vj~2224561) - Location: Not specified - Photos: 13 - [Full Landscape Reconstruction 3](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/full-landscape-reconstruction-3-pj-vj~2224577) - Location: Not specified - Photos: 13 - [Full Landscape Reconstruction 4](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/full-landscape-reconstruction-4-pj-vj~2224610) - Location: Not specified - Photos: 14 - [Full Modern Landscape Project](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/full-modern-landscape-project-pj-vj~1914206) - Location: Not specified - Photos: 21 - [Cozy English Garden](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/cozy-english-garden-pj-vj~1382176) - Location: Not specified - Photos: 4 - Description: The Harris/Harold Residence is a very uniquely designed backyard with abundant plant material and flowing walkways. In the beginning this yard was overgrown and intertwined with clusters of old large bushes all along a steeply sloped backyard, leading to an outdated water feature. A large portion of the space was not usable due to congestion and improper use of space such as the water feature. With the cooperation of our team and the homeowner we came up with a great plan to keep some of the mat… - [Multi-Seating Backyard Space](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/multi-seating-backyard-space-pj-vj~1715895) - Location: Not specified - Photos: 3 - [Relaxing Patio](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/relaxing-patio-pj-vj~1824492) - Location: Not specified - Photos: 17 - [Outdoor Fire Place](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/outdoor-fire-place-pj-vj~120047) - Location: Not specified - Photos: 10 - [Feature Fireplace](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/feature-fireplace-pj-vj~1913853) - Location: Not specified - Photos: 9 - [Retaining Wall](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/retaining-wall-pj-vj~1932272) - Location: Not specified - Photos: 17 - [Antique Feature Landscape](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/antique-feature-landscape-pj-vj~1958431) - Location: Not specified - Photos: 15 - [Full Landscape Reconstruction 6](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/full-landscape-reconstruction-6-pj-vj~2224649) - Location: Not specified - Photos: 18 - [Full Landscape Reconstruction 5](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/full-landscape-reconstruction-5-pj-vj~2224630) - Location: Not specified - Photos: 15 [See all 14 projects](https://www.houzz.com/professionals/landscape-contractors/year-round-landscaping-pfvwus-pf~1166191957) ## Ideabooks - [Privacy Screens](https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/67571995/list/privacy-screens) — 8 ideas - [Fire Pits](https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/55697425/list/fire-pits) — 1 idea - [Patio](https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/55951134/list/patio) — 2 ideas [See all 3 ideabooks](https://www.houzz.com/ideabooks/users/yrli) ## Community Q&A **Q: Thanks for the idea** *(in Photo Questions)* I was challenged by a client to build an A/C surround that was unique. We do not do much exterior wood work in Florida because of the rain, bugs and sun. I went to Houzz to get some ideas. I found this photo and we decided to copy it. I posted photos on my page, lot me what you think. Thanks for the great idea! A: Hi ljuliahern, yes this is a great approach for that. In our case this was to give the A/C unit some blending with the landscaping being done instead of having it stand out. --- *Source: Houzz professional profile. Reflects the profile as of 2026-10-08.*
