## Community Q&A

**Q: Siding** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hey there. What kind of wood is that and where did you get it ?

A: Good morning,  The wood is Ipe, a tropical hardwood.  This was installed as a rain screen system, so the siding is held off the building about 3/4" by aluminum clips. 

We sourced the material through Hayward Lumber, a local supplier in Pacific Grove, Ca.

**Q: is this even a tree house? to me NO?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: More of a custom play deck or platform.  This was built for a clients young daughter and her friends.   One of the objectives being to not impact or effect the tree or its root system.

**Q: What is this? Modern tree house?!** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: Depending on a few things and considering this was built in Carmel Ca. Highlands, out of "A" Grade, Kiln dried furniture grade lumber and 3form acrylic panels ($5,500 alone) the budget range would be $18,000 - $26,000.  

Granted there are similar materials that could be substituted to bring the range down to $8,000 - $12,000 or even less, again depending on material grades and design.
