> We are very happy with Stephen and Tall Grass - the work done on our project was professional. They were here working on time, and Stephen called us if there was a delay or question about the project. His suggestions were good, and made our pavillion very attractive, as well as functional. I would recommend Tall Grass for your landscaping needs.

> Stephen was very professional and easy to work with. He took our vision of what we wanted, and not only met our expectations, he exceeded them! If something came up, or if our plan changed, Stephen was easy to get a hold of, and communicated very effectively throughout the entire process. Highly recommend his work!

> We had steep steps ,no railing, and worried about falling. Not any longer! Tallgrass came out and listened to our concerns and ideas. Within days we had a plan, estimate and start date. Very flexible, friendly professionals. We are thrilled with our entry deck. Not only much safer, but the built in bench is aces.
> Thank you Tallgrass.

> At a home improvement show, I scheduled an estimate visit with Tallgrass for some earthwork I needed done. My property badly needed some help with drainage issues. I was having other work done at the same time on the house, so I needed to fix the problems as cheaply as possible and have it look nice until I can afford to actually landscape it. Stephen came up with a good looking solution to get it done. I ended up with a nicely graded property with gravel on top for now, and drain pipes in trenches for my gutter outlets. He also had a nice design for a new concrete patio in mind for the backyard. The guys he had were great, especially the excavator, Dan. He is very experienced and knows the valley well. Stephen was also able to have a small concrete patio put in that is ready for expansion to the full patio he had in mind at a later date. Communication through email is spotty, likely due to work load. Calls and texts were not a problem and I recommend going that route. I look forward to having him come back when I save up the money to landscape the front yard and eventually revisit the backyard!

> I can't say enough great things about Stephen and the crew at Tallgrass. They went above and beyond on the project and kept in constant communication about the progress. They were very thorough and detailed from start to finish. Thank you so much...literally one of the best companies I've ever hired!

> Great company to work with. They were very professional and worked quickly to get the job done. Even though my project was a simple one I was very pleased with the results.

> Stephen did a great job, was on time, and worked well with our schedule. The job was completed as was expected and for the cost that was quoted. We really appreciated his extra efforts for completing the job as we had a house full of company the following week of completion. We are going to be requesting his services again soon.

> If you value reliability in a business association, you will love working with Stephen. You will receive a very professional service with courtesy and a fair price. Highly recommended.

> Tallgrass Landscaping & Construction installed full landscaping including a sprinkler system, cement patio and pergola in our backyard. Our backyard was a forest of weeds. During our first consultation, we discussed with Stephen and Curt what we envisioned for our backyard. They created a plan that met our desires and additionally offered several suggestions that further improved the look of the yard. We would never of thought of many of their suggestions, but they turned out amazing. One example was a dry river bed. Stephen was extremely professional and willing to answer any questions we had about our plants, sprinklers and landscaping plans. He was very hands on and made sure we were happy and informed during the whole process. In the end, they took our hideous backyard and created an oasis. Tallgrass exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend them for any landscaping job.

**★★★★★ — dublinway, May 2014**

> We love our yard and have received many complements from the neighbors. Tallgrass did an awesome job and were very professional. We moved here from Denver,Colorado and before we even got here Steve mapped out our property of what would work. Tallgrass (Steven and Curt) worked with us as I changed plans 3 different times with no hassle. I would recommend them to any one looking for an honest dependable landscaper that you can trust.

**★★★★★ — Jesi Main, April 2014**

> Tallgrass Landscaping did a wonderful job fixing our sprinkler system and putting sod in our backyard, so we now have a great yard to enjoy! We gave them a budget and they stuck to it and were able to give us what we wanted.

**★★★★★ — hpkempen47, April 2014**

> We replaced the site of two trees with raised brick beds which was Stephens idea, but I had been thinking along those same lines especially out front. Stephen worked with the existing sprinkling system so that it worked with the new bed and the existing lawn. We were provided with really good ideas for making the back yard look better and used some in this project. We are really pleased with the result and are enjoying our garden (yard) much more these days.

  - Description: The homeowners had recently moved into the property and decided the existing landscaping needed some changes and a little more style brought into the mix. We worked with them to construct a plan that retained large parts of the existing landscape but changed elements, eye-lines and the overall utility of the property. We replaced the existing while stone with a tan granite, added several new boulders as well as re-arranged the existing ones, removed and redirected new concrete curbing to create…
- [2015 - Adobe Creek Adj Project](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/2015-adobe-creek-adj-project-pj-vj~1483092)
  - Location: Fruita, CO
  - Photos: 10
  - Description: New construction on small acreage. The homeowners wanted a very open, park-like setting with elevated areas to be used as practice "T-boxes" as well as several smooth areas that could be mowed to represent golf greens. The bigger challange was the 100' x 100' x 12'd pond and associated irrigation system. We constructed a custom sluse tank with a float valve to help filter irrigation water prior to entering the pond and then a pump house for the 5Hp pump and mainline start into the property sprin…

  - Description: Outdoor Kitchen and Fire Pit area in the Country Club area of Grand Junction. The homeowners wanted to reconfigure a large portion of the grass backyard area in order to create a large entertaining area. The end result was a 2 tiered area containing a kitchen and patio area on the higher tier off the existing patio and then a large open entertaining area with a caste iron fire bowl as its centerpiece. The floor of the upper tier was originally designed to have a crushed granite floor (as seen in…

  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 6
  - Description: A duplex that had little outdoor space and some minor settling issues in the front area. We removed the existing walkway and constructed the beautiful Trex deck with custom redwood rails and ornamental balusters you see here. Additionally we added the larger, wider concrete steps and landing area to create a welcoming entry area that also has plenty of space for family gatherings and easy access to the large front yard area.
- [2014 - Birdy Dr. - Outdoor Covered Kitchen](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/2014-birdy-dr-outdoor-covered-kitchen-pj-vj~532267)
  - Location: Not specified

  - Description: Covered outdoor kitchen with breakfast bar element. Hosting a large gathering for their son's high school graduation the homeowners wanted to tie the new structure into the style of the existing home while also making it a standout showpiece of the backyard. 6x6 cedar posts and 6x12 beams add a rustic element to the roof and the beautiful "beetle kill" pine tongue and groove ceiling is really striking. Overall the finished product was one everyone was extremely exited about.
- [2014 - Royal Ct. Project - New Backyard](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/2014-royal-ct-project-new-backyard-pj-vj~583426)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 11
  - Description: 4 Year old house with no backyard landscaping. Worked with homeowners to develop a design that incorporated their desire for backyard entertaining space, a fire pit area and a regulation size horse shoe pit. The foot bridge leading from the new patio extension to the fire pit area really adds a sense of elegance as well as uniqueness to the whole property. The east end of the backyard was purposely left unfinished as the homeowners decided on an eventual garden plan.

  - Location: Grand Junction, CO

  - Description: A large home purchased out of foreclosure that needed a lot of TLC (Tallgrass Landscape & Construction - get it? ;) ) both inside and out. The back yard was sloped steeply to a drainage, cluttered with debris and elms and mostly unusable. Working with the owners we developed a plan to "buy back" use of the upper yard by installing a massive retaining wall (utilizing Insulated Concrete Forms by Rhinoblock) and back-filling to raise the grade. The result was a 2 tiered backyard with a planter-box…
- [2013 - Emily Dr. Project - Planter Islands](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/2013-emily-dr-project-planter-islands-pj-vj~532251)
  - Location: Not specified

  - Description: Existing home the owners wanted to do project / spot work on. Built a Versa Lock paver planter in the front yard complete with drip system to 6 xeric plantings. Built a small back planter bed in a reclaimed area off the small lawn area. Removed and replaced small section of concrete curbing, replaced 10' section of paver steps between walkway and patio with concrete. Small project but the stone cap work was extensive on the front planter (almost every cap had to be cut) and redoing the design of…

  - Location: Grand Junction, CO
  - Photos: 8
  - Description: Project was new construction. Homeowners wanted a small backyard to finish out the area near the house along with a fully finished covered patio feature complete with lights and a ceiling fan. We used rough sawn redwood for the frame and finished the ceiling with blue stain imitation beatle kill pine.
- [2015 - Dublin Way Prj \#2](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/2015-dublin-way-prj-2-pj-vj~1045191)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 3
  - Description: Small project upgrades to help improve the curb appeal and backyard enjoyment of a property. The water feature wasn't functioning properly and leaking into the yard area but a rework using new liner and flagstone mined from another project quickly improved the overall functionality and visual / sound appeal of the fountain.

  - Description: New construction on 3.5 acres. Owners needed to landscape the front 1/2 of the property as well as provide automatic sprinkler coverage to both the yard area as well as pasture and septic area coverage. The homeowners wanted the front of the property xeric in nature with only drip irrigation service, a larger lawn area in back and impact sprinkler coverage over the pasture. The entire sprinkler system consisted of 24 zones and over 3,000 feet of pipe. The soil in the area was also very alkaline…

  - Location: Grand Junction, CO
  - Photos: 6
  - Description: Re construction of an existing pathway and stairway along the south side of an Indp Rnch home. The existing stairs were uneven and ill spaced and the flagstone path was crumbling and not kept in check. We pulled up all the existing flagstone and removed the rock stairway. Replaced with colored concrete stairs, new pathway pavers inside a new concrete curb'ed walkway as well as fixed and refirbished several small areas around the property.
- [2013 - Clearwater Ct. Project- Rehab Landscape Project](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/2013-clearwater-ct-project-rehab-landscape-project-pj-vj~447412)

  - Description: Existing landscaping needed an upgrade. Goals were to: 1) reestablish the small garden area but with planter boxes, 2) separate the yard area so the dog had his own side and the main area for entertaining was clear of pet waste and readily usable for guests and 2 young children and 3) give the whole yard a cleaner, more manicured look.

  - Description: New construction. House had sat unoccupied on the lot for several years until recent financing ownership change allowed it onto the open market. The new homeowners wanted a simple yet unique design that kept with the neighborhood standard. Low maintenance was a priority but they did want a fair bit of grass so the design you see was the end result.
