In January, after the purchase of our new home, we decided to have some interior work done. Dan Hutchins, of CertaPro, promptly got back to us and set up a free estimate. Our requested work consisted of painting the ceiling of both our kitchen and family room (which are attached) two accent walls, (1 in kitchen and 1 in family room), the remaining walls in the kitchen and family room, and repairing and painting the interior window trim. It has been "Butter" yellow for about 5 years. It seems too yellow to me and I'd like to use something warm but neutral. I have used Restoration Hardware's Latte in another and LOVE the color. What is a warm cream color one could use on dining room/ kitchen walls? A: Swiss Coffee is the only white that I can guarantee 2 coats will cover. When you get into brilliant whites you could be looking at 3 or more coats for proper coverage. **Q: how to make a light grey room feel warm?** *(in Design Dilemma)* I have just painted my bedroom a light grey/silver. I am wondering how to warm it up? I wanted a clean, open and airy feel, but want it to be inviting at the same time. A: I would recommend a breezy blue, we just painted a room with grey and accent blue that came out amazing. Sherwin Williams has a great line of coastal blues. **Q: Oak timber kitchen needs a facelift on a budget** *(in Design Dilemma)* facelift on a budget.We bought our 1920 heritage home and don't mind the layout with some walls to be knocked out. Wondering if we could paint cupboards white laminate ? What colour bench top ? Could we laminate paint the tiles too ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated A: You could paint the cabinets, that is a great way to give a kitchen a face-lift on a budget. You would use an oil based primer and 2 coats of paint. ProClassic is a very hard paint that would have the laminate look with a semi-gloss or gloss finish. **Q: Need help for my living/family room** *(in Design Dilemma)* Recently moved to this house. It's a great living room but having trouble arranging seating..our style is contemporary and the white sofa set is new but I can replace the green one..looking to add a large area rug..curtains..coffee table and add some side tables..any ideas are welcome. A: From a Painter's Perspective, I would use the mantle wood trim and wood trim above the window to accent the room and future furniture. You can also use new colors on the walls and trim to accent one wall/make the entire room flow. We just purchased this home and i w** *(in Design Dilemma)* Current family room A: This is a complicated room that you can do some amazing things with a few, well organized color accents. The wall colors, mantle trim, and window trims are what will make this room. The cut lines and overall flow of your color choices are the most important aspects of a room like this, (from what I have seen). A color consultant/interior decorator would be a great help in those unique cut lines and overall flow of that room. Then we would paint it for you:) **Q: Paint choice/style** *(in Design Dilemma)* So my living room is all white and it's pretty boring ... It's taken me a while to figure out what color to paint or what to do with the walls to make it look nice with the furnishings... Any advice? I was going to do two accent walls of some sort of blue but still deciding. Thanks A: Since their has been plenty of discussion on colors, I will lend my advice on the paint. I would use 2 coats of Pro Mar 200 on the walls, and Pro Mar 400 on the ceilings. You will always need 2 coats of paint whenever you have a color change or sheen change. Lastly, if you are selecting a very bold color, or a pure white, it may take 3 coats to cover.
