**★★★★★ — Mary-Ann Baldwin, Dec. 2017**

> Becky was a dream to work with. Her cabinets are exactly what we were looking for -- modern, flexible, easy to clean, and beautiful! We renovated our kitchen and created a whole new look. We also have a lot more cabinet space because Becky helped us choose the cabinets that would meet our needs. She was totally professional, met our budget and exceeded deadlines. After living with our new kitchen for close to two years, we can highly recommend modcabs.com. The features are great, the drawers work beautifully and we get major compliments every time we have guests. And Becky is THE BEST.

**Comment from ModCabs:**

> We are extremely happy will our cabinets and get a ton of compliments on them from any and everyone who comes in our house, because they are so different from the norm.
> We have been using them over three years and they are still as perfect as the day they were put in. The company was great to work with! We just love the modern look and without ModCabs I don’t think we would have found our modern dream kitchen.

**Comment from ModCabs:**

> That kitchen is YOU, Stacy! Thanks for opening my eyes to the fabulous combo of retro drawer & door pulls and high gloss white cabinets. 10/10 would do again. :)

**★★★★★ — Clever Malik, Oct. 2017**

> My cabinets are fantastic and still look and operate like the day they were installed. They are heavy duty and solidly crafted with deep drawers. Very easy to clean and the style I have does not show fingerprints. I would say the quality is top notch and excellent value for the price.

## Community Q&A

**Q: After two phases and 7 years, our kitchen is done! WHITE and IKEA!** *(in Before & After)*

Original kitchen cabinets and counter top from 1979.

Shows original kitchen opening (background) and wood 2x railings

New SS railings. Kitchen opened up to full width of wall.

Vigo faucet. Blanco single-bowl sink.

Dacor gas cooktop. Zephyr hood. Ikea microwave/oven.

A: Very nice job - much improved & more enjoyable to use, I'm sure! It's a good & balanced design. White and stainless will never go out of style: they're neutral & provide a base upon which all else can be successfully layered.
I've grown to prefer high gloss painted finish over high gloss membranes & foils for several reasons:

As noted above, they peel over time.
Foils can get dinged, both during construction and with normal daily use. Once that happens the integrity of the seal is broken, and the whole door has to be replaced. Paint can be repaired.
It's not very environmentally friendly, either in the manufacturing process or end of life cycle.
Fingerprints.

The high gloss painted option isn't as mirror-like a finish as the foils, but it's reparable and doesn't have the fingerprint issues foils do. The other nice thing about paint is the number of color options - even just in the whites range - is huge!
One last thought:
Ikea will always be the right product for some projects: very constrained budgets, people who aren't in a hurry, and/or DIY fans.
That said, one size definitely does not fit all! Use your noodle & get what's right for you. Don't forget the invisible element of time - both in how long the construction takes and the longevity of the product.
Disclaimer: For 7 years I independently designed & installed about 80 kitchens with Ikea's old AKURUM system. I'm not at all a fan of the new SEKTION/METOD system. The introduction of SEKTION led me to create my own modern cabinet line with the best of all cabinet worlds rolled into one line.

**Q: Cabinets I wont regret.. which modern style is the best choice.** *(in Polls)*

Yes I know.. Its hard for me to decide. So I am asking you guys which style do you think will be around for a while ...........10-15 years .......and in style. Whats the best investment. I do not want to have to go through remodeling again and may not have the money.

If your answer is solid wood....how can I keep the cost down since they are the most expensive.

A: ^ Textured laminate doors are quite durable. Like anything, they won't survive the apocalypse, but they are UV stable and scratch resistant.
