> Do NOT deal with this company. Very poorly run. Abigail caused a 9 week delay to the building of our home which caused thousands of dollars to us and our home builder. She contacts you when she needs your money to pay another debt and doesn’t bother keeping any kind of deadlines. She lied to us repeatedly about the whereabouts and delivery of our products. Have also reported this business to the Better Business Bureau. Only gave a 1\* review because it didn’t have a -10000\* review option. Don’t get sucked into this business like we did; even if they say ‘under new management’.

> We hired Abigail ad the team at PF to help us with our kitchen renovation after having some flooring done with them a few years prior. From day one, everyone was pleasant, professional and timely. We trusted all of the trades coming in and out of our home. We shared with Abigail that we were on a fairly strict budget and she lit up at the challenge. We not only ended up completing under budget but she helped us get connected with a fund that got us money back from the renovation so we ended up even better off!
> The design of our space was absolutely phenomenal and we continue to be so happy that we decided to move forward with PF. Thanks Abigail and team :)

> It's really funny that their motto is customer service and quality go hand in hand. I guess they do...but in a negative way!!
>
> Dealing with Abigail and her team has been THE most unpleasant experience. Phone calls and emails don't get returned and the business is often closed during their regular business hours. They have no problems returning calls when they're expecting your 50% deposit but after that, good luck receiving any kind of timely communication. It has been 8 months since we had our flooring done and we are still waiting for the job to be finished properly. As you can see in the pictures, the work was very sloppy. Work started late to begin with and took twice as long as promised. This isn't that surprising. However, the quality was sub par and despite numerous guarantees made by Abigail, they refuse to come back and complete the repairs. We have exposed nails, holes in the drywall, cracked baseboards, etc. They still have our baseboard paint after promising to fix the damages they made to them yet they won't return our many attempts to contact them.
>
> I would be surprised if they're in business much longer. Do yourself a huge favour and steer clear of this very unprofessional business.

> Wonderful friendly service. Very patient and understanding. Took the time to go over floor plans and share professional options. Service at our front door with the product once we finally picked it out. Shared some cool home decor ideas and then some. We can't wait to show our new renovations. Thank you Abagail your awesome!!

**Comment from PF Design Studio:**

> Thanks so much Karen, you and your family are such a pleasure to work with! We can't wait to come over and see the finished product!! So happy you had a great experience :)

> Our experience with this company was disastrous from the beginning! They never followed through with commitments and left us hanging for weeks. The quality of the flooring was great, but the installation was not! We have so many squeaks in our floor - something that was promised would not happen. They said to just call and they would come to fix it right away. Did not happen!! I would definitely not recommend this business. We had one person who was excellent to work with (Janet) and she has since started her own business. We finally had to hire another business.

**Comment from PF Design Studio:**

> Hi there,
> We apologize that you had a negative experience with our company. We are under new management since January 2017 and we would love feedback about the job and to see if there is anything we could do to rectify the situation. Could you please email us at info@pfdesignstudio.ca to let us know what happened with your project so we can ensure that it does not happen again?
> Thank you for your feedback - we will try our best to improve going forward.

> What a great company with very helpful staff. They are with you thru the whole process of the Reno's. We had them come do a good chunk of your condo, new flooring, redo both of our bathrooms, a cut out and creating is a breakfast bar, and expand our kitchen they created a laundry station in our laundry room. Our ugly mantel is now replaced by a featured floor to ceiling tiled fireplace. They are quick and tidy. And great to have in your home. They even added felt to the bottom of all my furniture. I wouldn't use any one else. the money spent was worth every penny and ended up getting over asking price for our condo....look forward to using them again when we find a house!!!!! Especially because you travelled to do it. When we relocate to Lethbridge. Thank you PF design you are a pleasure to work with and look forward to our long working relationship. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

> Our experience with Paul's Floors was nothing but professional. We decided to undertake renovating our rental property and did not know where to even start! Abigail visited the property and offered her professional opinion and walked us through step-by-step when considering all aspects of our renovation, from what type of flooring would be the best for our type of renovation, to the most complementary paint colours for the entire condo, to the kitchen backsplash that would tie the whole design together - and her consultation was free of charge which we liked the most! Overall, we are incredibly happy with the amazing design process and the quality of products.

 - Description: This home was in such amazing condition but really need a facelift. The client wanted to keep all of the traditional oak carpentry and cabinets because they were in such wonderful shape. Instead, we removed all of the old flooring and changed to a high end, durable vinyl plank floor. In the bedrooms, we changed to a neutral, high quality carpet and in the bathrooms to a grouted vinyl tile. This was one of the best clients we have had and the project turned out beautifully!

## Community Q&A

**Q: What ledger/stacked stone is used on wall?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: We will check into it and get back to you!

**Q: Help identifying a wall color (I know the chances are slim, but...)** *(in Paint)*

I completely fell in love with two wall colors I saw at a local open house... I asked the real estate agent to follow up with me on the color names, but no luck so far. I really want to identify these colors, but the only thing I have are some pictures.
One of them is a cooler grey, almost white - used in the kitchen and family room of the house:

Another view of it here:

And, here is the other color (a more green-ish grey, used in the dining and living room):

And another view of this room:

I have no idea where to start with the first (off-white, cool grey) color. Could the second one (green-ish gray) be BM Edgecomb Gray?
I realize that colors change completely in a different light, and we only see them through a camera lens here, so I know the chances of getting them right are fairly slim... but I still want to try! Please give me your best shot!

A: I would say gray owl, edge comb, or distant gray (for the white)

**Q: just opened a wall** *(in Design Dilemma)*

trying to fugue it how to flow into the family room with color and furniture arrangement... we will habe lighting in this room this week

A: I would definitely turn your current island so you are facing his living room. Then have a space that creates a walkway before having the furniture to the living room. Make sure that the living room to kitchen is as open as possible and if you have the type of space where the couches could go either side and the place behind the island could be empty or just a coffee table etc, it would open it right up!

**Q: Need to pick out kitchen cabinets and flooring.** *(in Home Decorating)*

Need to pick out cabinets and flooring for a track house being built in Southeast Arizona. We are bring our 2 year old burgundy sectional and mission furniture. The kitchen and great-room are all one big room. Would white cabinets be too modern for the furniture? What color of flooring would go in all rooms.

A: Hi Judith!

Could you post a pic of the furniture?

And honestly no! If you go with an off white (try BM Cloud White or SW Toque White) and maybe a textured door (something like the pic here), you can have a really clean look that white brings without being too contemporary!

As for your flooring, we suggest something neutral, maybe a mid beigey brown, not overly busy and go for a nice wide plank, it will help to contrast the more traditional furniture!

Let us know if you need any help with the design, we offer some e-design services for free :) good luck!

**Q: Number of small pendants required for a 78" x 65" kitchen island** *(in Lighting)*

We are renovating our kitchen. We have 2 islands (one for cooking, one for eating). We have lots of pot lights so the lighting fixture is for decor, not for lighting. The cooking island has a hood fan so we are only doing fixtures on the eating island. The fixtures will run on the 6.5 ft length. The pendants we have chosen are small (2.25 inches wide and 15.3 inches tall). We would like to stagger the lengths for interest. We have 9 ft ceilings. It is an open concept house so I want the number of pendants to be appropriate for the space (sufficient number). I have the following questions:

\- How many pendants do we need?
\- Should they be an uneven number from a design perspective?
\- How far apart should they be (based on what I have read, it would be 78 less 12, and then divide by the number of pendants for even spacing). Is this correct?
\- There are always trends. I notice in decor shows, magazines, and online that the trend is pendants. Is this a temporary trend? Should we go with a large fixture above the island so it doesn't feel dated in a few years?

Thank you very much in advance for your help!

A: You can totally make this work! Pendants are such a cool and usually inexpensive way to build a lot of interest in your kitchen. Most islands we try to go for three pendants when they are bigger however because you are wanting to do them at different heights (which is a really interesting idea) and they are quite skinny, we suggest doing 5. Go long-short-long-short-long.

Post a photo when it's done, would love to see how it turned out! Good luck :D

**Q: Can lighting vs fixture over kitchen table** *(in Lighting)*

We have an open kitchen floor plan, similar to this and have similar pendant lights over our island. We are considering "just" doing can lighting over our farm-style table (which would be to the right edge of the photo, same as photo). We aren't very formal, so any of the fixtures just seem a little "too much" and we like the flexibility to be able to move the table around without hitting our head on a fixture, or having it off-center. That all being said, is it weird to have can lighting over a table instead of a fixture? Most photos seem to have chandeliers?!

A: Not at all! We do it all the time. For busy families or families planning to stay in the house for a long time and likely transition over the years, we actually almost always suggest NOT doing a main light fixture. We find that it limits the space to only allow for one function. If you do the can lighting, you can transition that space to be exactly as you need it!

Good luck, post pics when it's done, would love to see it!
