> Greg and his father installed stonework on our existing brick fireplace. We were adding a gas insert and the store that sold us the insert insisted that the insert molding should be outside the stone in an overlapping fashion. I initially objected to that thinking that since the stone was not flat, but uneven, the overlap would leave spaces and not look good. The fireplace store insisted it be overlapped, and I gave in. When Greg came to do the job, he also disagreed with the fireplace store. He said that if it were his fireplace he would not do it that way but rather, cut the store exactly around the edges of the molding for the insert leaving just enough room to pull it out for service. He asked if he can call the fireplace store and discuss it with them. Fireplace store was adamant that it had to be done their way. After the call ended, it bothered Greg so much because he knew it should be done differently, he called the store back and didn’t get off the phone until they finally agreed with him.  I doubt very much that any other Mason would have taken their time because they cared so much about the job coming out correctly to call the fireplace store twice like that.  Greg is a perfectionist, and he was absolutely correct. The job came out fantastic.
