## About

- 10 Ideabook Saves

My name is Bruno Cantoli, The very first time I layed hands on a brush I was fifteen, I was helping out a painter in Seattle paint a three story house overlooking Lake Washington during summer. Painting that house was no easy task, and it was a learning curve, but with all the hard work we had put into it, and seeing the final results, it made me very proud, and then I realized what I wanted to do for my future. A couple years later I started my own painting company, and for the last eight years I had the pleasure to work on many projects, met the most wonderful clients, and delivered projects to many, happy homeowners, and business owners.

> Referred by a neighbor, I got an estimate from The Paint Nerds along with two other companies to paint the exterior of our home; their estimate was lower by at least a grand compared to the other companies. They contacted me a couple of weeks earlier than expected and offered to do the power washing a week or so earlier due to an opening in their schedule, another opening got them to our house 2 weeks earlier than planned to paint!!!
>
> Bruno and his crew showed up promptly Monday morning and knocked out the job in just 2 days! Bruno was very professional and thorough. The house looks amazing and the care and detail-orientation of the crew is evident. I also felt very comfortable with them in and around the house whether or not we were home.
>
> We also got support from our contact person via email about paint selection. I couldn't be happier with how it all went down and came out. I recommend them.

> I found Bruno & his crew through Howzz and I have to tell you I'm really pleased with their work. They were able to paint my new apartment around my exacting schedule. They covered an awful previous paint job--on budget and sooner than expected--whilst taking care of my home and being respectful of my new neighbors. The Paint Nerds made what was shaping up to be a stressful experience into an easy experience. Plus they cleaned up after themselves, which I appreciated. I would highly recommend them.

> The Paint Nerds was outstanding from the get go. Our single family Victorian needed a careful paint job in a busy lower Pacific Heights neighborhood. We contacted Bruno and several others suggested by friends, got estimates, compared reviews, and put down a deposit to lock in the contract and get on their crowded schedule. While we had hoped for a summer slot, we ended up with a January start date. The scaffolding went up as scheduled (and included in the estimate) and over the next rainy weeks. The Paint Nerds painted whenever the weather permitted. A sufficient period of drying was always observed in spite of the time pressure. Very detailed prep was necessary on the old paint and caulking which they completely replaced before painting. There was no loud music or shouting back and forth. The site was always left clean. Their work was so exemplary that we asked them to do the interior of all our windows also. Wet rot on one newel post had to be diagnosed and a repair arranged, all facilitated by Bruno. We are delighted with the final result and can recommend this company whole heartedly. We are finally done and feel very lucky to have found them!

> Bruno and his crew were amazing -- from the initial visit to the contract to the care throughout and the cleanup at the end.
>
> I am a tough nut when it comes to hiring help of any kind and am not easily impressed. Bruno blew my socks off with his genuineness, listening, personableness, knowledge, and professionalism. I had a number of contractors provide estimates and none were as thorough (not even close!) as Bruno. You'll pay a bit more to work with Bruno but he WORTH EVERY PENNY. There were no surprises - the project went as he bid it (when does that happen?!?!?!).
>
> I can't recommend Bruno and his crew enough.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Please help me...** *(in Design Dilemma)*

I am looking for suggestion of what color I should change the siding to... thank you very much!

A: how about a mid tone gray with black shutters?

**Q: painting our brick exterior** *(in Before & After)*

Not sure what kind of paint to use, satin, semi-gloss?

A: I would recommend satin! usually semi gloss works great on larger surfaces. Semi gloss looks really good on front doors, shutters, and accent adornments. How big is the brick surface? is it just one wall? also if the brick is raw make sure to prime with elastomeric primer first, it will save you a lot of stress down the road.

**Q: Painting dilemma** *(in Before & After)*

Just purchased this house & would like to paint entire home one color to keep cost down...possibly swiss mocha (or other slight off white). Do I leave faux stone columns & doorway the existing color or paint it out with everything else. Any other suggestions on color for an entire interior change besides swiss mocha? I also don't know what style this home is...

A: just out of curiosity what paint brand are you looking at, because there many different types of Swiss mocha depending on the manufacturer. A very popular color in the bay area is Swiss coffee from Kelly Moore. another color that I use frequently that is very appealing is white dove from Benjamin Moore. The mantle and the columns would go nicely with a darker rich color to compliment the lighter tone on the walls. Will be painting the trim as well? how about those beams going across the living room?

**Q: Gloomy seventies bathroom** *(in Before & After)*

This bathroom was originally refurbished around 1974. Vintage maybe but I did not like it since I was a kid. Recently the flushing tank was irreparably malfunctioning and I took the chance of throwing the whole thing out. Everything. A start from sctatch! (Sorry for the tilted pics. Whatever I try goes wrong)
