> Buildwright did a wonderful job reconstructing half of our house after a double water leak. Nearly half of our house was dismantled: floors, walls, master bath, laundry room. Edoe Bariclay was on site nearly every day. His craftsmen were careful and detailed- hardwood floors, tile, plumbing, electrical. Everything was straightforward, no up-selling. Will not hesitate to hire Buildwright again and recommend this business highly.

**Comment from Buildwright Construction Inc:**

> Thank you, this truly means a lot.
> That was a major rebuild after the double leak, and I’m glad we could restore everything the right way. I appreciate you recognizing the craftsmanship and straightforward process — that’s exactly how we operate.
> Grateful for the trust, and always here if you need anything.

> Buildwright Construction remodeled our bathroom in Venice and the finished result came out exactly the way we hoped. The bathroom feels brighter, cleaner, more modern, and much more functional than before.
> Edoe and his team were helpful throughout the process, from planning the bathroom renovation to choosing the tile, fixtures, and finish details. They were honest about what would work, what made sense, and how to keep the project moving without overcomplicating everything.
> The workmanship was very good, especially the tile and finish work. The crew was respectful, kept the space as clean as possible, and handled the normal remodel surprises professionally.
> We would recommend Buildwright Construction to anyone looking for a bathroom remodel in Venice or the Los Angeles area. They were professional, easy to work with, and delivered a bathroom we’re genuinely happy with.

**★★★★★ — Charles walsh, June 2026**

> Kitchen remodel, full gut. Edoe came out for the initial walkthrough and spent more time asking questions than most contractors spend on the entire estimate process. Layout, how we use the space, what bothered us most about the old kitchen. Took about six weeks. There was a cabinet delivery delay that pushed us back but he flagged it before we even had to ask. The kitchen is unrecognizable now in the best way.

**★★★★★ — Ben Peri, June 2026**

> I am probably not the easiest client to work with. I ask a lot of questions, I pay attention to details, and I changed my mind more than once during the project.
>
> Buildwright handled it professionally from start to finish.
>
> We remodeled most of the interior of our Toluca Lake home, including custom cabinetry, flooring, paint, and a complete kitchen renovation. There were a few moments where I wasn't sure about certain design choices, and they took the time to walk through everything without making me feel rushed.
>
> What impressed me most was the finish work. The little details that most people don't notice right away are what make the entire project feel high-end.
>
> Months later, everything still looks and functions exactly as it should. That's what matters most.

**★★★★★ — HU-329126156, May 2026**

> We interviewed a few contractors before moving forward with our home remodel in Sherman Oaks, and honestly, most conversations felt like sales pitches. Our meeting with Buildwright felt different.
>
> The project included opening up part of our living area, updating the kitchen, flooring throughout the house, lighting, paint, and a handful of things we hadn't even thought about until construction started.
>
> No remodel is perfect, and there were definitely unexpected issues once walls were opened. What stood out was that they didn't disappear when problems came up. They explained the options, gave us realistic expectations, and kept things moving.
>
> The house feels completely different now. Brighter, more functional, and much more like the home we wanted when we bought it.
>
> If you're looking for a contractor who communicates well, shows up, and treats your project like it matters, Buildwright is worth talking to.

**★★★★★ — Mumtahina Chawdurie, May 2026**

> We hired BWC after water damage forced us to finally renovate our upstairs bathroom. It turned into a much bigger project than expected, but Edoe handled it professionally from day one. He kept us informed constantly and never disappeared once the work started. I appreciated that he pointed out potential issues early instead of waiting until later to surprise us. The finished bathroom feels simple, clean, and functional without looking overdesigned. It’s probably the first renovation project we’ve done that didn’t leave us stressed at the end.

**★★★★★ — Louis Ryan, May 2026**

> My parents live with us now, so we needed a garage conversion done properly and comfortably for them. What stood out about this company was how patient Edoe was with my parents during meetings. He explained things slowly, answered every concern, and made sure they felt included in decisions. The space now honestly feels like a real apartment instead of an old garage. The lighting, flooring, and bathroom setup came together really nicely. The crew was respectful the whole time and cleanup was consistent too.

**★★★★★ — Adam Smith, May 2026**

> We hired BWC for kitchen remodeling and overall home renovation work. The original kitchen lacked storage and the layout made everyday cooking frustrating. Edoe suggested practical improvements that immediately made sense once we saw the design. The work included flooring updates, new lighting, and better cabinet placement. The crew stayed professional throughout and completed the renovation without major delays. Edoe inspected the final work carefully and followed up after completion.

**★★★★★ — Dylan McCarthy, May 2026**

> We worked with Buidwright for a home addition construction project that added a new bedroom and expanded our living space. Edoe helped us design the addition so it connected naturally with the rest of the house. He was detail-oriented throughout the process and made sure the layout felt practical instead of forced. Construction stayed organized and the crew communicated well during each phase. The finished addition feels like part of the original house. Edoe remained available even after completion to answer follow-up questions.

**★★★★★ — ANJU KUMARI SAINI, May 2026**

> They recently completed an exterior painting project for our home along with some siding and wall repairs. Edoe noticed areas with hidden wear that needed attention before painting started, which saved us future problems. He explained everything clearly and stayed realistic about the timeline. The crew was organized and paid attention to details around trim and edges. The paint job came out smooth and even, and the house looks refreshed without looking overdone. Edoe checked in again once the project was complete to ensure we were happy with everything.

Edoe reviewed the property carefully and suggested adjustments to the exterior walls and roofline so the building would blend naturally with the main home. Construction moved steadily and communication remained clear the entire time. The final structure turned out exactly how we hoped. Edoe also followed up after the job to make sure everything was completed correctly.

Edoe helped us plan a full bathroom that balanced comfort with practicality. He was patient during the design phase and explained the pros and cons of different materials without pressuring us. > We hired BWC for a custom home remodeling project after living in the same layout for years. The house felt closed off and outdated, especially around the kitchen and dining area. Edoe came by and spent time learning how we used the space before suggesting changes. His ideas for the interior layout made the home feel much more open without needing major structural changes. The work included new flooring, lighting, and remodeling several rooms. Edoe stayed involved through the entire process and followed up afterward to make sure everything still looked and worked properly.

> We decided to build an ADU on our property to create rental income, and after getting three quotes from different contractors, we went with Buildwright. It wasn't the cheapest quote, but after meeting Edoe, it was clear they were the most prepared.
>
> He came to the initial meeting with information about local zoning, permit requirements, and a rough project timeline. Most contractors we spoke to couldn't answer those questions on the spot. Edoe could. That gave us confidence right away.
>
> The ADU construction took about four months start to finish. There were inspection stages along the way and Edoe coordinated all of them without us having to chase anything down. The finished unit has a full bath, a small kitchen, good storage, and really smart use of the square footage. It's been rented out for two months now and the tenant hasn't had a single maintenance issue. BWC delivered a solid, well-built structure and we'd use them again Without question.

**Comment from Buildwright Construction Inc:**

> Thank you, really appreciate you taking the time to share this.
> From day one, the goal was to make the process clear and handled the right way, especially with zoning and permits. I’m glad that came through.
> Best part is hearing the unit is already rented and running smoothly. That’s exactly what we aim for.
> It was a pleasure working with you, and I’m here anytime if you decide to do more.

**★★★★★ — Charles walsh, April 2026**

> Adding a room to our house felt overwhelming before we found this company. We needed extra storage and a dedicated living space for my mother-in-law, but we had no idea how to approach permits, structural work, or design. Buildwright handled every single part of it.
>
> Edoe was our point of contact from day one. He walked the property with us, talked through the interior layout options, and even helped us think through things we hadn't considered — like natural light placement and how the addition would connect to the existing exterior walls. The 3D design presentation they put together beforehand made it easy to visualize and approve before a single nail was hammered.
>
> Construction was smooth. The crew worked consistently and the site was always left tidy at the end of the day. The room addition came out better than what we had imagined on paper. Edoe was reachable throughout and never made us feel like we were bothering him with questions. Even a few weeks after the project finished, he answered a question we had about the new flooring without any hesitation. That kind of follow-through matters.

**Comment from Buildwright Construction Inc:**

> Thank you for the thoughtful review, we really appreciate it.
> Room additions in Los Angeles can feel complex with permits, design, and structural work, so our goal is always to make the process clear and smooth from start to finish. I’m glad the 3D design helped you visualize the space early and that everything came together the way you envisioned.
> It was a pleasure working with you, and we’re always here for anything you need down the line.

This company handled the remodel and Edoe was the project manager guiding us through it. He helped with the design home ideas and recommended practical improvements that we hadn’t considered. > We couldn't be happier with our kitchen remodel by BWC. Our older home really needed a change, and Edoe was there from day one to guide us. He was personable and detail-oriented, which gave us a lot of confidence. The 3D design he helped us with was crucial for visualizing how everything would look. Now, we have this amazing, light-filled space that feels so much bigger. The white cabinets, the large quartz island with the matching wood barstools (as seen in the photo), and the floating shelves are exactly what we wanted. Edoe made sure every detail was perfect, from the backsplash tile to the light fixtures. He even followed up a few weeks after the job was done to see if we had any questions. It felt like a true partnership. I highly recommend BWC for your next remodelling project.

**Comment from Buildwright Construction Inc:**

> Dylan — appreciate you sharing this.
> You had a clear vision, which made it easy for us to guide and execute at a high level. The 3D design really helped lock everything in before we started, and the final result speaks for itself — clean, bright, and functional.
> Enjoy the space, and we’re here if you need anything down the line.

**★★★★★ — Andrew Hutchinson, March 2026**

> Our master bathroom renovation had been postponed for years because we were nervous about the process. When we finally decided to move forward with this company, Edoe made the entire experience manageable. He walked us through the bathroom design plan step by step and helped us choose a layout for a full bathroom that would actually work for our daily routine. The team handled the bath remodeling services professionally, from new flooring to lighting and fixtures. Edoe checked every detail before finishing the project. The bathroom now feels comfortable and well designed, and he even called a week later to make sure everything was functioning properly.

> We just finished our project and it turned out wonderful from the beginning our project manager was polite on time and made us feel comfortable about taking this next step in our renovations something that hasn't been done in decades in our house we first had the bathroom redone flooring countertops and relocating the shower after that we started the bigger project of redesigning the kitchen this started by meeting with their designer to draft up the renderings. We redid everything From the flooring cabinets tore down two load bearing walls then painted the dining room hallway and living room the tech was in constant communication with us and always welcomed our questions at any time they kept us informed of the progress and collected payment along the way after each task was completed if there is something you don't like they are more than willing to adjust and redo anything if needed as long as you openly communicate with them You'll have an amazing outcome That is better than you imagined.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Anderson windows - what color** *(in Home Decorating)*

We have gutted and are adding onto our home. I need to make a decision on windows and sliders. The builder has suggested Anderson in either black, white or sandstone color. I can have white on the inside with black or sandstone on the outside if I wish. Or same color inside and outside.

What color would you choose?

This is AI of what the living room will potentially look like.

We are keeping the color of the exterior. This is just to show the color as this wall has been removed.

A: I’d lean toward white on the interior and sandstone on the exterior.
Since you’re keeping the existing exterior color, sandstone will probably blend better with the siding and feel more natural from the outside. Black can look great, but it creates a much stronger contrast and may feel a little too modern unless the rest of the exterior is being updated to support that look.
For the inside, white feels like the safer choice. With that much glass across the living room wall, white frames will keep the space lighter and quieter visually. Black interior frames would make the doors more of a design feature, but they could also make that wall feel busier.
So my vote would be:
White interior / sandstone exterior
It gives you a clean interior look while still respecting the current exterior. I’d also ask the builder for actual color samples against the siding before making the final call, because sandstone can shift a lot depending on the light and the undertone of the siding.

**Q: Kitchen Cabinetry to 11' Ceiling Height... see plan** *(in Building a Home)*

Can anyone share pictures of their kitchens with 11' ceilings? I have a cabinet plan... but one cabinet company suggested I add soffits or drop the ceiling height to 10. Dropping the ceiling is not an option due to the house's flow. This plan could still be adjusted.. more "empty space at the top, and reduce the first cabinet a few inches??? I absolutely want cabinets to the ceiling, purely for aesthetic - I know they are unusable.

A: You’re right to question this, because 11’ ceilings change the rules completely.
Going straight cabinets to the ceiling sounds good in theory, but in practice it usually looks off. One tall cabinet run at that height can feel stretched and top-heavy instead of clean.
What works better in most cases like yours is breaking it up.
Stacked cabinets or a second tier is usually the move. It keeps the proportions right and still gives you that full-height look without making the kitchen feel like a wall of cabinets.
A few things to think about before you lock it in:
If you go full height, the top cabinets become more decorative than functional. You’re realistically not using anything above 8 or 9 feet without a stool, so don’t design it like everyday storage.
Soffits aren’t always a bad thing. A lot of them exist because of structure or mechanical runs, and sometimes they actually help control proportions instead of forcing cabinets too high.
Also, empty space above cabinets isn’t automatically a problem. What matters is how it’s finished. Trim, lighting, or even leaving some breathing room can look more intentional than forcing everything to the ceiling.
If your goal is purely aesthetic, then yes, taking cabinetry up higher makes sense. It creates a more built-in, custom look and eliminates that awkward gap.
But the cleanest result usually comes from balance, not max height everywhere.
In a lot of kitchen remodels we do, especially with ceilings over 10 feet, we’ll mix it. Some sections go higher, others stay lower, and we use glass or lighter finishes up top so it doesn’t feel heavy.
That’s what keeps it looking high-end instead of overwhelming.
This is also one of those decisions that affects cost more than people expect. Taller cabinets or double stacking adds up quickly, so it’s worth being intentional about where it actually matters.
If you want, share a bit more of your layout and elevations. This is one of those details where small adjustments make a big difference in how the whole kitchen feels.

**Q: Would you recommend painting this furniture?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Hi
Our master bedroom set is 25 years old. It is a light wood Broyhill set. Very tired of looking at it all these years, it is big and not much my style anymore, but the storage is excellent. i would love new bedroom furniture , but it simply isnt in the budget. I am contemplating painting it an off white / ivory color , changing the hardware, and possibly getting rid of the sleigh bed ( its huge so id like to scale it down in general and plus it would be a pain to paint ) and just replacing the bed with an upholstered headboard.
has anyone ever used the dixie bell paint for up-cycle projects? i was thinking of using it if i move forward with it . This pic isn’t my actual dresser- its a pic I found online of someone else ( hubby is sleeping right now so i cant photograph it ) but that is one of the pieces I have , to show as an example of the style/ and wood color it currently is . i can post my actual pics tomorrow

A: You’re not crazy for wanting to repaint it. The piece itself isn’t the problem. It’s the color and scale that are dating it.
Painting it in white or ivory can absolutely work, especially if you’re trying to lighten the room and move away from that heavy 90s wood tone. Dixie Belle is fine to use, just make sure you prep properly. Light sanding, good cleaning, and ideally a bonding primer if you want it to hold up long term. Most failures people complain about come from skipping prep, not the paint itself.
One thing I’d push you on a bit. Before you commit, look at the proportions. That dresser with the mirror is very top heavy and bulky. Even painted, it’s still going to read large in the room. If you can remove the mirror and just keep the base, it will instantly feel more modern and easier to work with.
Changing the hardware will help more than people expect. Go simpler, cleaner. That alone can shift the look a lot.
Also, don’t try to “perfectly repaint furniture.” A slightly softer, lived-in finish usually looks better than a factory-smooth repaint, especially with a piece like this.
Budget-wise, this is a smart move. You’re keeping storage, updating the look, and avoiding a full furniture replacement.
Just be aware, this works best if the rest of the room supports it. If everything else stays heavy or outdated, the painted piece won’t carry the whole space.
If you post your actual room later, I can help you dial in the color and hardware so it doesn’t end up looking like a DIY project.

**Q: Shower Panels or Tiles** *(in Bathrooms)*

I have to redo the shower area. Water leaks to the unit below. should i use shower panels or tiles? its a condo in Los Angeles. do i have to pull permits?

A: You’ve got two separate issues here, and most people mix them up.
First, the leak.
That’s not a tile vs panel problem. That’s a waterproofing failure.
From your photo, the issue is very likely coming from the shower system behind the tile. Either the pan, the membrane, or how the glass was tied into the wall. Changing to panels without fixing the base system just hides the problem for a bit, it doesn’t solve it.
If water is already getting to the unit below, this isn’t a surface repair. The shower needs to be opened up and redone properly from the waterproofing layer out.
Tile vs panels is more about finish and maintenance.
Tile gives you more flexibility and usually looks better long term, especially in a condo where you want it to feel like part of the home. Panels are faster and have fewer grout lines, but they can feel more like a system install unless done really clean.
Either one works if the waterproofing is done right. Neither works if it’s not.
Second, permits.
In Los Angeles, once you’re opening up the shower and touching plumbing or rebuilding the pan, you’re almost always in permit territory. (Aggregate Construction Group)
If it were just swapping finishes in place, different story. But a leaking shower means you’re dealing with the system underneath, and that usually triggers inspection.
Also, since you’re in a condo, HOA is just as important as the city. A lot of buildings require approval before you even start, especially for anything involving plumbing or potential water damage.
One thing most people don’t realize
In condos, bad shower work doesn’t just affect you. It becomes a liability issue with the unit below, and that’s where things get expensive fast.
If this were my project, I wouldn’t even think about panels vs tile yet. I’d focus on rebuilding the shower correctly so you don’t deal with this again in a year.
If you want, I can walk you through what a proper shower rebuild should include so you know what to look for when talking to contractors.

**Q: "Timeless" bathroom for Spanish Mediterranean style home** *(in Remodeling)*

Hi, I am redoing both my primary and guest bathroom in a 1920s Spanish Mediterranean home (FL). Our home style currently is transitional, but I'd like to add a bit more of a palm beach style to it with wallpaper + decor.
I would love advice on selecting the tile for our primary bathroom, which then I will do a similar style to coordinate for the guest bathroom. I want the style to be "timeless". While nothing is truly timeless, I don't want it to be trendy and something that will go out of style in a short few years. I also want it to somewhat reflect our style home being Spanish Mediterranean, without being rustic.
Here's my current thoughts, but please let me know if you have other recommendations.
1\. Zellige look
Wall tile: bedrosians porcelain 4x4 tiles (cloe in cream or white)
Floor tile: Carrara marble basket weave

2\. Star and cross tile
Wall tile: Bedrosians porcelain star and cross tiles in white mixing matte and gloss for a subtle checkerboard look
Floor tile: white hexagon 1"

3\. Traditional subway tile
Wall tile: square subway tile (maybe one with texture, but solid white and no color variation)
Floor tile: Carrara marble basket weave or similar

Our home is small, so our bathrooms are small. We have a standard size shower and 48" vanity. I would like to keep tile simple, but not too boring to where it looks "builder grade." I plan to use wallpaper to bring personality and color into the room.
Our kitchen was remodeled and has brick floors, white textured subway tile (2x9), and sage green cabinetry.
Please share any feedback and advice.
Thanks!

A: You’re actually approaching this the right way. In a Spanish Mediterranean home, “timeless” comes down to restraint and material selection, not trying to do too much.
Out of the options you shared, the zellige direction is the strongest fit. It brings subtle variation and texture that naturally works with that style without feeling forced. Stick with a soft white or cream and keep the layout simple. Let the material carry the look.
One thing to watch out for, Carrara basketweave on the floor can start to feel more East Coast traditional than Mediterranean. It’s clean, but not always the best match for the architecture. A softer stone look or something with a bit of warmth usually blends better.
Your star and cross idea can work, but it leans more decorative. That’s where things tend to date faster unless everything else is extremely toned down.
Subway tile is the safest option, but also the easiest to end up looking builder-grade if there’s no texture or variation.
You’re making a smart move using wallpaper for personality. That gives you flexibility without locking the whole space into a specific look long term.
In most bathroom remodels like this, especially in older homes, what really makes it work is how everything ties together. Tile, vanity, lighting, all of it needs to feel like it belongs in the same story.
Projects like this usually come down to the details and how far you’re going with finishes, which can shift cost and timeline more than people expect.
If you want, I’m happy to look at the full setup and help you dial it in so it feels cohesive and not overdone.
