> If only this architect had come through with what he promised rather than costing me a fortune having to undo all of the mistakes that he did.

**★★★★★ — Gross & Daley Photography, Nov. 2018**

> Having had the pleasure of photographing several of Steve Marchetti's projects we can say that we would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an architect to do a new home or a remodel. He is top- notch when it comes to careful attention to detail and esthetics in creating beautiful homes for his clients. As architectural photographers we are keenly aware of how it feels to experience a space... the light, the layout, the views. In Steve’s intelligent designs we’ve been totally impressed by his creativity of ideas & ingenuity in creating comfortable and exciting modern classics for living.

**Comment from Studio Marchetti Architecture PLLC:**

> Thank you. You two consummate professionals help me to "see" my projects.

**★★★★★ — User, Dec. 2015**

> Steve helped us combine and fully renovate two apartments in a pre-war Brooklyn Heights co-op. He was brilliant. After carefully listening to our ideas, he presented us with various ingenious configurations, and then patiently guided us through an assessment of each and the ultimate selection of the right one. He then supervised the process of selecting a contractor, which resulted in our hiring someone who was truly terrific. Steve (and his staff), the contractor (and his crew), and our designer worked together seamlessly. Steve supervised the construction and design process with expertise, enthusiasm, and a sense of humor. He was terrific in making suggestions and improvements in the plans along the way, often taking our ideas and making them better. He knows how to balance, "must-haves," and "nice-to-haves" against a budget and time schedule. He is smart, creative, and a pleasure to work with. In short, we could not recommend him more highly, and have done so to friends. Thank you, Steve, for giving us such a wonderful family home!

**★★★★★ — Structure Works Construction Inc., Dec. 2015**

> As the General Contractor responsible for the Dutchess County House, we had the incredible opportunity of working with Steven and Kristin closely from the early contract stages, thru construction and punch list completion. Steven's passion and enthusiasm for design is second only to the excitement he exudes throughout the construction process as his vision comes to life. The opportunity to build for Steven was a wonderful experience for us as the GC and our new relationship is one we hope to continue and expand!

**★★★★★ — Amanda Kirkpatrick Photography, Nov. 2015**

> Steve and I worked together to photograph a project of his in Dutchess County, NY. It was a beautiful project, and thus a pleasure to work on, and Steve is great to collaborate with. I'd look forward to visiting more of his projects, and would recommend him without reservation.

**★★★★★ — Ellen Johnson, Sept. 2015**

> I used Studio Marchetti when we completely renovated our apartment. The experience could not have been better.
>
> Steve Marchetti is a highly intelligent and experienced architect. He has in depth knowledge in all areas of his field. His work is extremely precise and he is an absolute pleasure to work with. Steve also has impeccable taste and makes a fantastic decorator. He is a true professional.

**★★★★★ — nicolewong1980, Sept. 2015**

> Steve built us our dream country house from the ground up!
>
> Steve was able to understand our vision for our home, despite our inability to clearly articulate it, and bring it to life. We could not be happier with our new home and fully credit him for helping our dream come true. Steve is passionate and thoughtful and sensitive to needs and personal taste. His vision and creativity blew us away. He is absolutely and staggeringly talented. Full stop.
>
> Steve's best quality is probably his ability to listen. He spends the time to get to know his clients and their individual tastes and needs. Our house is beautiful yet functional and meets our current needs as a family with young children without sacrificing style.

**★★★★★ — farmgirlinky, Aug. 2015**

> I'm not sure how he does it -- maybe by listening so intently to one's own ideas and treating those ideas with such respect while maintaining his own rigorous architectural design sense and standards-- but Steven Marchetti made us feel as though we had designed our own (beautiful) home renovation projects, when in retrospect it is clear that we never could have had such joyful experiences and wonderful results without him. In different antique homes over twenty years, each of them presenting challenges that required ingenuity and skill, we have worked with Steve to make happy machines for living. His dealings with subcontractors are invariably professional, good-humored, and politely forceful when required. The only regret I have is that we might never be able to design an entirely new house with Steve, because we are so happy where we are. So we're planning a folly.

## Selected projects

- [North Fork Retreat](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/north-fork-retreat-pj-vj~1373986)
  - Location: Mattituck, NY
  - Photos: 6
  - Description: This estate was added to over two decades, transforming from a ranch house to a French country fantasy. The different parts of the house were treated as pavilions, each with its own distinctive roof form. The exterior walls are clad in fieldstone, and the roof is cedar shakes. A fabulous chef's kitchen expands upward two floors to a large skylight. The house is dramatically situated on a bluff overlooking Long Island Sound.
- [Dutchess County House](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/dutchess-county-house-pj-vj~983193)
  - Location: Red Hook, NY
  - Photos: 17
  - Description: This modern rustic house was commissioned by a young NYC family. Sited on a hill in Dutchess County NY, the house is designed as a series of pavilions that slide past one another to capture the wonderful views across the property. A pool and pergola extend the house’s spirit out into the landscape. General Contractor: Structure Works
- [Riverside Drive Apartment Combination](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/riverside-drive-apartment-combination-pj-vj~1228099)
  - Location: New York, NY
  - Photos: 3
  - Description: Over several years and two phases, three apartments on in a pre-war building on Riverside Drive were combined to create one large family apartment .
- [West Chelsea Loft and Roof Cabin](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/west-chelsea-loft-and-roof-cabin-pj-vj~1209106)
  - Location: New York, NY
  - Photos: 5
  - Description: Clients purchased a loft space on the top floor of a former industrial building, along with permission to expand upward on the roof. The loft came with great bones: a concrete floor, high ceilings, and shallow barrel-vaulted ceiling. The main level was transformed into a modernist composition of crisp sculptural forms. Maple-clad stairs lead up to a master suite penthouse.
- [Brooklyn Heights Apartment](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/brooklyn-heights-apartment-pj-vj~1161447)
  - Location: Brooklyn, NY
  - Photos: 6
  - Description: Two apartments were combined into large family apartment overlooking the Brooklyn Heights Promenade and the Manhattan skyline beyond.
- [Cat Hill House](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/cat-hill-house-pj-vj~1118673)
  - Location: Philipstown, NY
  - Photos: 11
  - Description: This Asian Modern house is composed of three connected pavilions placed along the natural ridge which the locals call Cat Hill. The stone-clad base appears to grow from the granite ledge of the hill, forming a plinth for the sliding doors, cedar walls, and copper roofs. The house has large windows to take advantage of the stunning Hudson River view to the south and west. On the north and east sides the house peers out through the foliage like a tree-house.
- [Shelter Island](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/shelter-island-pj-vj~1071500)
  - Location: Shelter Island, NY
  - Photos: 4
  - Description: This cozy stick-and-shingle-style cottage sits on Peconic Bay. The first floor contains wide-open family spaces plus a guest room & bath. The second floor has 2 more bedrooms, each with their own bath.
- [Cedar Modern](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/cedar-modern-pj-vj~1363547)
  - Location: Not specified
  - Photos: 39
  - Description: Designed by Studio Marchetti, this Modern retreat for a young NYC couple with children replaced an existing house with a brand new flare. Custom cedar kitchen cabinets, hand painted concrete tile and a single-tube steel stringer staircase are the highlights of this fantastic project.
- [New Haven House](https://www.houzz.com/hznb/projects/new-haven-house-pj-vj~4406987)
  - Location: New Haven, CT
  - Photos: 9
  - Description: This circa 1910 arts and crafts house was originally built for a Yale professor, and was never properly finished. My clients bought the house in 2001 and we then proceeded over sixteen years and four phases to add or insert the missing features: a full family kitchen, generous porches in the rear, and a porte-cochere on the side of the house. The new elements were designed with the century-old house in mind, but with a contemporary twist.
