I'd like to buy 1 side table and 1 floor lamo (instead of the 2 cside table i have now) and replacing them. any recomendations? As far as coffee table, not sure if to go round or square. A: Well first of all I would start out with a larger rug that has some fun colors to build the room around (like a Company C Rugs style). Next pick a great wall color to help warm up the space (hard to suggest when I don't know your homes colors) When the wall color and the wood tone are closer in value they complement more. I would then try to group the furn into a more conversational layout, but if that isn't possible I would pull the piano out from the wall a bit more and add a tall plant/tree in the corner to add life, texture, and height. Next, to it put a interesting/unusual floor lamp. On the other side of sofa change up the end table with a totally different style and design than your coffee tbl. Maybe metal, or painted. Possibly something w/ glass if you want your focus on the rug. I would also suggest putting a great piece of art above sofa (a bit smaller size overall than what you have now, my eye keeps going to the mirrors and they dominate the sofa. Maybe you can find another location for them). Try adding a large tray w/ candle and books or something to the coffee table. The idea is to have your eye flow around the space stopping at interesting pieces along the way. Now your eye tends to jump from one piece to the next as if they are all seperate. Color, texture, and a variety of values adds interest. You have some good pieces to work with, now just add your personality and you can transform it into a lovely room.
