**★★★★★ — Todd Simms, June 2020**

> We used Megan/CB Architecture & Design to help us take our vision to convert our modest, ranch style house into an expanded, open and modern home with tons of natural light. Megan listened to our original ideas and shared many of her own. After much discussion we considered two options before deciding on the direction we wanted to go.
>
> Megan understood what our budget was and pointed out if design elements we were pursuing would possibly be over our budgeted amount.
>
> Megan's philosophy with her projects is to be present and work closely with the contractor throughout the duration of the project. She essentially acts as a project manager, meeting with the GC and owner on a weekly basis at the job site. She was also available both to the contractor and to me outside of the weekly meetings and would come to the site if the contractor needed her to. Megan had never worked with the contractor i hired but the two worked very well together.
>
> I would certainly hire Megan again if we have any future projects and feel fortunate that we found her to design our home.

**★★★★★ — WO Designs, Oct. 2017**

> Megan is a dream to work with - highly talented and skilled architect and designer. I have been working with Megan for several years now. She has a high attention to detail and quality, not to mention talented at visualizing space and executing her ideas through drawings and renderings. As often as I can, I recommend Megan to colleagues and clients!

**★★★★★ — Maria, Sept. 2017**

> We had a great experience working with Megan on master suite addition. Megan was easy to work with. She listened to what we needed and was very considerate of our budget which was tight based on the scope of the project. She helped us each step of the way including design, permitting, selecting a contractor and project management. We finished our project on time and are very pleased with our new master bedroom, master bathroom and walk-in closet.

**★★★★★ — tekmage, March 2016**

> Taking on the challenge of a major house renovation or addition is a serious commitment of time and money. The hope at the start is everything goes smoothly and the final product meets your expectations. Hiring a professional who can help with the design process as well as manage the construction process is key to getting the finished product you want.
>
> I choose to work with CB Design based on Megan’s past work and was very impressed by her commitment to the project. She was patient and thorough, walking me through every step from the proposed plans, to elevations, design details, materials, and finishes. She really knows what’s available so the whole project is cohesive.
>
> Megan also helped select the contractor and was integral during the construction in addressing and resolving issues as they came up. With complex projects having an architectural designer involved is key to getting the finished product right. Megan listened to my needs and developed some special elements like a hidden refrigerator / pantry area and a partial wall at the master bedroom to hide an open closet beyond.
>
> I could not be happier with the results and the service from CB Design.

> Mega was prompt and very thorough when meeting with us to explain the process and what to expect for the project. We appreciate the level of detail and hope to kick-off this project soon.

**★★★★★ — orindawoods, April 2015**

> Megan transformed a tired 1960's ranch-style into a beautiful home. We had struggled for many years with how to replace an outdated railing separating a long hallway from the sunken living room. Megan came up with a shelf design that was both beautiful and practical. She turned a dark panelled kitchen into a light, airy heart of the home. Megan brings architectural savvy and a fine attention to detail -- the style and position of every light, the type of plumbing fixture, the loveliest tile and backsplash, the handles on the kitchen cabinets, the most durable and beautiful wood floor. She accompanied us in selecting these items.
> Most of all, Megan is a great -- and fun!--person to work with. She listens, provides options, is always on time and stays within budget. She helped us develop the criteria for selecting a contractor, assisted us with interviews, all of which enabled us to select a contractor who fit our needs and budget. In summary, Megan is not only a skilled designer, but a highly effective project manager.

  - Description: Named for its dynamic volumes that step down the hillside, the Fold House is a ground-up new construction home in the Berkeley Hills designed by CB Architecture + Design in collaboration with Timbre Architecture. Each space is precisely oriented to capture panoramic San Francisco Bay views; from the main living level's floor-to-ceiling Western Window Systems glazing to the rooftop decks that frame the Bay at sunset. The design is expressed through a series of folding architectural moments: volum…

  - Description: The Plus House is named for one of its notable features, a horizontal band of windows facing 180 degree views of the San Francisco Bay that is intersected by a vertical staircase with a light monitor above. The light monitor adds verticality to the space, provides a glimpse of the sky above, and brings indirect light into the entertaining areas as well as the downstairs hallway. - Location: Emerald Hills, CA
  - Photos: 14
  - Description: The Courtyard House is a renovation and expansion of a 1950s home for a family with flexible and evolving needs. The home is surrounded by mature Coastal Live Oak trees providing a private Northern California setting while situated in a suburban neighborhood. The existing floor plan was poorly organized; in particular the entry was difficult to find, tucked in the middle of the property instead of along the street frontage and hidden from view behind overgrown bushes. This home applied multiple…

  - Description: Lagom, a Swedish word with no exact translation in English, defined in terms that you might recall from the Goldilocks story as “not too much, not to little, but just right”, is the perfect way to describe this single family renovation and addition to a 1948 suburban ranch style home. The transformation changed a modest 1100 sq. ft. into a light-filled retreat with a wall of glass facing the park-like greenery of the backyard. The completed Roberta Avenue project created a family friendly reside…

## Community Q&A

**Q: would you please share the source of the cabinets?** *(in Photo Questions)*

The midcentury style cabinets are beautful!

A: Yes - the medicine cabinet is custom (made by a local cabinet maker). The mirror is cut to size by local fabricator and applied to the door of the medicine cabinet and the adjacent wall.

**Q: Hello! I love the recessed shower curtain track!** *(in Photo Questions)*

We are in the middle of a remodel and I am having a hard time locating a recessed shower curtain track ? Do you by chance know the company name or have a link to the website were this could be purchased? Thankyou so much for your help!

A: Look for Recmar Curtain Tracks (or similar); they come in 8' lengths in black, silver and white. You can recess the track into you ceiling finish. You will also need curtain track button carriers with hooks; these are also available from Recmar. Finally we used ballchain since the ceiling was 10' to allow us to use a shorter curtain.

**Q: Love the felt screen! Where is it from?** *(in Photo Questions)*

sgadinis@gmail.com

A: We designed the pattern, had it cut by a lasercutting company, and then folded and sewed some of the triangles to give it dimensionality.

**Q: Where can you get the hanging Device for shower curtains** *(in Photo Questions)*
