> Beautiful tiles. We've used them on our kitchen backsplash and fireplace surround. Service was great and personal - Couldn't find anything like this in my local tile store. Exactly what we were looking for at a great price for hand crafted material.

## Community Q&A

**Q: This or That - Mountain Cabin or Beach Cottage?** *(in Polls)*

If you were to have a vacation home to escape to whenever you needed some downtime, would you rather have a cabin somewhere on a secluded mountain or would you rather have a cottage at the shore?
VOTE and tell us about it in the comments! (photos encouraged)

A: I'm a Cottage guy myself.

**Q: Fireplace is depressing** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Looking for ideas on how to redo it. Considering sheet rocking the middle since the stone is just so massive. Your thoughts are appreciated.

A: How about considering a little color?

**Q: Backsplash Help!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Wondering if you think this backsplash goes with our kitchen or if we should do one that has more color? Any opinions welcome!

A: I would go with a little more color \_ a little too washed out with the cabinets, though the contrasting grout advice might remedy that

**Q: Kitchen backsplash ideas!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

New kitchen in a very old house is finally coming together. I had some backsplash options picked out...but now that the new countertops are in....I'm not a fan of any of them! It's a silver birch corian top...of the three options I tried, the white subway tiles seemed the best...though I'm not sold on the whole package yet.
The floors are grey streaked, cabinets are white, and countertops are silvery...my current kitchen is sunflower themed..so I have a ton of yellow and green hues I would like to incorporate (sunflowers yes, country-style no...). Any ideas of what type of pattern or color backsplash would work would be much appreciated!
Thanks!

A: I'd invite you to check out our Cottage Craft Tile website. You'll find photos of finished projects that might get your wheels turning. I have a couple of pics stored on my pad that I'll share now. Good luck with your project.

**Q: Craftsman style** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Did arts & crafts homes ever have painted wood (white or cream)? I read somewhere that William Morris' partner used painted wood and painted board and batten wainscoting. Can I get away with painted wood and quality cherry furniture in mission style and still have a true craftsman style appearance? I already gave up on exposed wood beams in my new house. Now, using stain quality wood doors is breaking my budget for other details, like "feet" on the kitchen and vanity cabinets, etc. Thanks for any suggestions.

A: We deal more with the tile elements in Craftsman Homes, but my inclination is that the natural wood is more in keeping with the style and period. Good luck with your project. Jim/ Cottage Craft Tile

**Q: Kitchen backsplash** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Looking for ideas for our kitchen backsplash. Should we just end it at the counter, or extend it? I like herringbone, but don't know if it would look good here.

A: a herringbone pattern would look nice. Your countertop doesn't appear to be too busy so it would definitely work. I would extend out to the end of the counter. there's no right or wrong answer to that, but looking at the photo, that would be my recommendation.
