> I have nothing but the best things to say about Jonathan Schloss/Architect. In 2009 we did a full remodel of our 1700 square foot loft in Manhattan. We took the walls down and the floors up. Jonathan was our architect and guided us through the entire process. He had been recommended by a friend and we were not disappointed. We learned so much from Jonathan about architecture, design, furniture, even stereo equipment. His ideas about how the apartment should flow were excellent. We wanted to keep the loft feeling but still have bedrooms for our two young children. Done. We wanted a separate playroom for the kids. Done. We wanted a laundry room which is no easy feat in NYC. Not only did he design it but it's right in the main hallway and guests don't even know it is there, very creative. We wanted central AC (also not easy in a NYC building built in 1890) and Jonathan came up with a unique idea to make it work. As a place for my wife and I to relax at the end of the day Jonathan designed a loft in our bedroom which we love and use daily. The design details of our apartment (such as the ribbed wood walls) have kept the apartment visually interesting to us since we moved in. The materials that he suggested for all the surfaces fit together so well. Cork for the kitchen and playroom floors was genius. Jonathan is conscientious and easy to work with. We are greatly appreciative of what he did to turn four walls into the home we have been so happy in for the last five years.

> It gives me great personal and professional satisfaction to comment on the outstanding, creative and beautiful spacious addition to our home by the architect, Jonathan Schloss. From on site evaluation, models, ground breaking to completion (including coordination of all interior lighting and plumbing fixtures), Jonathan and his capable staff were there to take and answer our questions during the building program. The master bedroom suite, enlarged foyer and oversized two car garage addition is wonderfully integrated and enhances the existing structure. Every week he personally met with our general contractor at our home in New Jersey, to review the on site progress.

> Jonathan’s command of architecture is of the highest degree and his integrity and character is without question.

> We had a wonderful experience with Jonathan and his team. They were good listeners, professional, attentive and very creative in the overall plan and in solving design and construction issues. We were expanding an existing suburban house which had been badly remodeled before. Starting with a model of the existing house and land, we worked thru several iterations and models until we said "that's it". We now do not have a house that looks like it was added on to. The house profile is unified but like no other house in our area. The interior flows much better than before. The house is large but does not say "McMansion". It says "home"
> Hire Jonathan; you will not be sorry.

  - Description: The Hope Building is a mixed-use seven-story building in the heart of Tribeca. The owner engaged Jonathan Schloss / Architect to renovate the existing five-story landmark building’s lofts, retail and amenity space, while adding a new two-story rooftop penthouse. The Hope Building was constructed in 1863 and operated as a shoe company for many years. Preserving and restoring the historic character of the façade was an important part of the project. This involved close coordination with the New Yo…

  - Description: The house occupies a hillside in Sunshine Canyon outside of Boulder, Colorado. While the site has spectacular views and a lush, isolated setting, the constrained original house lacked a sense of interior movement and strong connection to its surroundings. The project objective was to address these shortcomings, substantially expand and gut-renovate the entire house, and ultimately create a new residence with generous living spaces and a definite sense of place. The core of the house is a collect…

  - Description: This West Village Townhouse is home to one of our most intriguing projects. By expanding the building both vertically and horizontally in footprint, this Italianate landmark is converted into a stylish single family home complete with a penthouse, master bedroom suite, and spacious terrace. The overall concept for the renovation, was to bridge the townhouse’s original historical character with contemporary design. Through the use of a natural material pallet, the townhouse is transformed from ol…

  - Description: The loft opens into a tall entry that continually expands as one progresses through the loft. Programmatic elements are contained by ribbed birch shells, which vary in height and degree of enclosure. As each shell breaks apart, access to a particular space, its entry, and enclosure are visually indicated. When the shells dissipate, the public living, dining, and entry spaces appear in the negative space, revealing the full loft dimensions. The secondary playroom and kitchen spaces reside in part…

  - Description: This loft renovation was done for a young couple starting a family. The intent was to provide ample flexibility, while preserving the characteristic experience unique to loft living. Despite the predominately open layout, it was essential to allow for a separation of public and private areas when desired. A small bedroom was placed into the corner of the loft, but was outfitted with an oversized barn door that allows it to be easily integrated into the apartment as a whole. In the study the aim…

Contained within the core are numerous functions, including storage, electrical panels, structure and a series of operable panels. Containing living, dining, kitchen and a flexible study and guest bedroom, the area can be opened up entirely for daily use or entertaining and can be closed off to provide greater intimacy and privacy. for the study, bedroom…

  - Description: The loft, formerly a heavily subdivided one bedroom apartment, was designed to enhance the ignored views and underutilized, exceptional light and to visually expand the limited size. The existing configuration, a 'railroad' setup of living room, kitchen, dining room and bedroom was reorganized to reduce the spaces to two distinct zones: a public zone of the entry, living room, dining room and kitchen and a private zone joining two flexible sleeping areas. Taking advantage of the scale and two ex…

  - Description: In this complete renovation of a four-story townhouse in the Greenwich Village, we opened up the segmented floors to natural light, unified a complex floor plan, and designed each space to fit the unique needs of this family of four. The main level of the Greenwich Village Townhouse features reclaimed barn wood flooring, marble counter-tops and a walnut dining table lit by a distinct chandelier. In addition to selecting the furniture for the residence, we designed a number of custom pieces. In t…

  - Description: An open loft was redefined to accommodate a family of three which included a small child. While maintaining the family's wishes of a clean, minimal environment, the space unifies structure with program allowing for a singular space that is defined by very few dividing walls that function as closet/storage spaces.
