The house we were under contract with Meridiana Parkway in Iowa Colony Texas has a lot of structural and cosmetic problems. The window needs replacement, no window screens in the masters bedroom, cracks in walls, cabinets surface were not sand and were just painted and many more. The thing that surprised me is when they told me that if there is any claim for structural damage in the future which is cause by lack of gutter they will not going to honor it since it is part of my responsibility as homeowner to install one myself. After letting people know on the net what they did to us, once again they ignored the complaints and block or remove the comments. This was our second buy but never again. You cant stop every post Highland Homes. What you did was wrong and you all know it! These are real issues and real complains from a real homeowner that trusted you. > > 1: We Bought a model home. Was told we had a 1 year warranty. Home was 3 years old at the time. > 2: at closing with them knowing we had movers moving us from Dallas to Round Rock same day. At closing I was forced to sign a paper saying no warranty! If I did not sign I would not get the keys and our family would have been homeless!! > 3: home had several cosmetic issues prior to closing that no home warranty would cover! Those issues never got fixed! All ignored. > 4: Since moving in found many corners cut and I mean many. From cheap fencing materials used fyi fence falling down to wiring in wrong areas ceilings not painted. This was two months past > the scheduled date. There's so much I could write in this review, but the highlights are that I'm extremely disappointed and would never build > with Highland Homes again. I like the exterior of my home and it feels solid, but the interior finishing work was subpar at best. The trimwork is uneven and badly installed. The entire house had to be repainted because the first job had so many > drips and imperfections. The second paint job still looks bad. They caulked the baseboards to my floors, but unfortunately the person was > very sloppy and the caulk is very noticeable. Everything throughout the house was painted with a waterbase paint which has begun to yellow > and it's only been a little over a year. My neighbor has had her Highland home four years and has repainted twice because the baseboards > looked so cream colored. There's been a long list of things they've had to come and fix, but most of the time the fix was a trade off because > they dinged over damaged something else in the process. I've learned to just live with the imperfections. I'm so over this whole experience > to write more, but I just want others to think twice before they buy with Highland. If this is one of the best builders in Dallas look out! > I'd never build with them again! Supposed to be higher quality than Highland but very disappointed even just a year into ownership, neighbors also disappointed. 3 leaks in the roof. 1 moisture issue that they didn't even investigate just painted over. Tile work that was fixed and fixed and still terrible. Promises to do things that never happen. Contractors that don't do what they say they will. The initial building process was a nightmare of having to correct things. We have a crooked powder room vanity. A courtyard wall with peeling off stone. I still have a list of things where some things were ignored. We receive calls every monday on progress! They really are the only way to build a house in the area, other builders didn't even compare on customer service or appearance. Good materials, great construction details, and everything is tailored to exactly what we want. Can't say enough good things about these guys. They aren't the cheapest, but for good reason.
