For instance our home has a mansard roof. We will be putting a new roof and siding, also other additions and improvements. Would love to get input as to what would look good. A: Welcome! Happy Houzz-ing! **Q: Please help with front porch decor!** *(in Design Dilemma)* We have a large front porch heading to the front door with enough room for seating. The front door does not get much sun if any, and I had wanted to put planters on either side of the door. Should I skip the planters and put two chairs? Or find shade loving plants? What kind of planter would I use and what kind of plant? I have two chairs that I could add some throw pillows as to not have to spend much money. Also have two side tables/benches (but not really) that I could paint. Any ideas to make this area work? And also in need of a rug and wreath or some sort of door decor! The porch also wraps around to the front of the house and we have 2 white rockers that I would like to keep but maybe get coordinating pillows to go with them. Thanks in advance!! A: What a lovely space! Pillows would definitely brighten up the porch and make it a bit more inviting, and you could go with some planters on either side of the door too. Plants are always lively and make a space look fresh. Since your rock wall acts as kind of a feature wall, I would keep the planters simple, maybe getting two in a solid stone hue that matches the rock wall. **Q: Front of home** *(in Design Dilemma)* Any ideas on how to add interest to the front of this home? Currently long front porch thinking about shortening & adding landscape on each side of door. Any ideas appreciated! A: The right contractor should be able to create an overhang for your front door that fits well with the design of the rest of your house. It helps that you have some contrast between the brick and the siding, as there's already a natural break there so the overhang won't be coming out of nowhere. It would definitely add a bit more curb appeal and also make your front entrance more inviting! **Q: Any reason not to??? Outdoor furniture question!** *(in Design Dilemma)* Hi there, I'm wondering if there is any reason not to have a sunbrella slipcover made for an ikea sofa and then use that outdoor? What do you talented people suggest for a classy look with pizzas? A: A very dark colour might not be the most welcoming, considering that the door is somewhat shadowed already. I would consider a warm colour like the terracotta that apple\_pie\_order suggested, or something bright and cheery. A deep blue would probably work too, if it's not too dark.
