**★★★★★ — Designer Remodel, Nov. 2022**

> This was a full house remodel with many details. Mark took our designer's sketches and worked with us closely for an extended period of time prior to starting production to ensure all the cabinetry looks and functions the way we envisioned. He provided detailed shop drawings that made the process smoother as we moved through the various phases of construction and as issues arose. Mark worked with us to design not only beautiful custom cabinetry but the truly customized and equally aesthetically pleasing organization for the interiors. He also comes back to address his punch list and is very responsive to emails.
>
> You get what you pay for. We found Mark to be honest and fair. His quote was reasonable, given the level of detail and quality expected for this project, and Mark communicated additional charges when things requested were not included in the original quote.

**★★★★★ — bebenex, Oct. 2020**

> Mark did a great job on our Modern Maple kitchen total remodel. We provided rough sketches of what we wanted and after few consultations we arrived at the final design. His input in this process was invaluable. The scheduling and execution of the project was timely and flawless. Mark was more than generous in guiding us through arranging services of other craftsmen as we acted as our own general contractors. The end result was spectacular. It has been over half a year since the kitchen was finished and we still look at it with amazement. The level of craftsmanship is outstanding and we wholeheartedly recommend Wood Done Right for projects like that. We would use Mark's services again without any hesitation.

**Comment from Wood Done Right:**

> Thank you both for your generous review. It was a real pleasure working with you.

**★★★★★ — Greg Hulka, Feb. 2020**

> If you want a kitchen built with quality and built well, Mark with Wood Done Right is the person for the job. We could not be happier with the finished kitchen. Cabinets are literally laser straight with flawless finish. Small details were worked out ahead of time and when new challenges came up he had great options. And for the quality work the cost was very reasonable.
> Almost makes us want to build another kitchen. Almost.

**Comment from Wood Done Right:**

> Thank you. You folks made it easy for us by communicating your wishes clearly and keeping things on schedule. We're very pleased with our work in your Kitchen and Laundry Room.

**★★★★★ — Linton Architects, March 2018**

> We've worked with Mark Burford at Wood Done Right on a number of projects over the years and he is outstanding. In every instance both the process and the finished product have been wonderful. Mark goes to a great deal of effort to ensure that every detail is well considered and well executed. It's always a smooth process working with Mark and we're always pleased with the result.

**★★★★★ — Ellen Cassilly Architect, Jan. 2017**

> Working with Mark is a true pleasure. He is an attentive listener whose first priority is to deliver what you need and want within you budget no matter the style. He sweats the details and the finished product is always top notch.
>
> I have worked on a number of projects with Mark - including my own home and I highly recommend him for your project.

**★★★★★ — Lisa Bobst, Dec. 2016**

> Mark's high quality work is on display in nearly every room of our new home and I could not be happier with it. Mark worked with us throughout the planning process for our house, providing excellent advice and feedback and adding sensible and creative suggestions that enhanced our vision for the project. He is experienced, knowledgable, creative and meticulous - an excellent combination of traits for a cabinetmaker! Mark was easy to work with, responsive, met his deadlines and was straightforward about his pricing. I cannot recommend him highly enough and will certainly use him for any projects we come up with in the future.

**★★★★★ — dr\_chapelhill, Dec. 2016**

> We were extremely pleased with Mark's work. He not only did the wood work in the kitchen, he designed it and oversaw the whole construction process. He was thorough, precise, and very easy to work with. We get tons of compliments on the kitchen and it functions extremely well. I would recommend Wood Done Right to anyone, even the most discerning customers.

**★★★★★ — RJ, Nov. 2015**

> I have worked with Mark recently on a kitchen renovation in which he constructed custom kitchen cabinetry including a center island. I found Mark to be a detail oriented cabinet maker of the highest quality who can follow plans diligently but work from concepts if necessary. He listened attentively to our needs, asked questions to assure the intended accuracy is achieved and frequently would make helpful suggestions to solve problems. His eye for detail, balance, and the variety of materials he is experienced using make him a delight to work with. We always receive wonderful comments on the quality of the job he performed. Thanks Mark!

**★★★★★ — Sophie Piesse Architect, PA, Oct. 2015**

> As a residential architect I have had the pleasure to work with Mark on many projects over the last several years and I am always happy that I did. He is patient, helpful, detailed and the results are always spectacular. He works with all budgets and can offer options and solutions to help us get where we need to be.
>
> He is a very talented craftsman who can help me create everything from an arts and crafts kitchen with hidden drawers, tapered legs and complex details or he can turn around and do a sleek, modern kitchen that is highly dependent on small tolerances and always manages to make everything line up visually with an exacting eye.
>
> Mark is great to work with and his work lives well, functions beautifully and is a delight to experience.

## Community Q&A

**Q: where can I find the drawers for albums?** *(in Photo Questions)*

I’m interested in building something similar.

A: Madame Architect is correct. :-) I was the cabinet maker for this job.
The main things you have to be careful about are thre internal width of the drawer box, and the height from the drawer bottom to the inside top of the cabinet that the drawer is mounted in.
I used heavy duty undermount slides.

**Q: What is the countertop color/brand? Why the backsplash bottom trim?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Not judging on the backsplash trim, I think it looks nice, but I am just curious if there a legitimate purpose other than cosmetic? We are replacing our counters and they currently have the counter material as trim instead of backsplash coming all the way down to the counter, which seems to be the current norm.

A: The countertop is a Quartz product.
I don't have the brand or pattern name.
The bottom trim is smaller tiles and a pencil border in the same finish as the rest of the full tile splash.
It's just for looks.

**Q: cabinet finish/wood** *(in Photo Questions)*

Love the cabinets! What wood and finish did you use?

A: The material is Black Walnut veneer finished with a clear satin sheen cabinet finish.

**Q: Hi! Please tell me what the material is on the fireplace. TXS!** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: It’s a sheet of metal.
I believe it was treated with something to oxidize it and then a sealer.

**Q: Kitchen remodel** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Do i need a vent over stove? Always had one but is it really necessary?

A: halcyonbear is absolutely correct.
The vent is there for a very good reason. Yes it takes up space, and it also keeps airborne matter from both your cook top and oven vented to the outside. There are lots of low profile options available which take up very little space. There are also microwave / hood combinations, which are bulkier, but serve a dual purpose.

**Q: white built-in bookcase** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Paint the back wall or leave white? What's the trend?

A: go ahead and paint it a different color.
Doing so adds color and depth. it also keeps the bookcases from looking so monolithic.
