**★★★★★ — Marilyn Meyers, Sept. 2014**

> Ken Spriggs is a prodigious architect with an unmatchable combination of qualities! His years of successful experience in various areas of historic preservation have enabled him to garner many awards of excellence. A look at his completed projects reveals his profound knowledge of historic buildings and his flair for restoration, preservation and renovation.
>
> He is at heart an artist who passionately applies his artistic sensibilities to architecture. With a trained “artist’s eye” Ken sees what the rest of us miss. Thinking visually, he sees the 3-D end results through all the steps of the designing and building processes, and he translates these ideas onto paper.
>
> Preservation America Foundation hired The Spriggs Group to prepare drawings to restore Glen Mary Plantation Main House to its original 1848 appearance. This project entailed working with The National Park Service. It began with Ken evaluating and documenting Glen Mary in the perspectives of both context and time to understand the influences of the environment in which the building exists. He was on a quest for authenticity. Scale, balance, and the perfect proportion of the building’s classic design inspired Ken and were the soul and underpinnings of his restoration design drawings. The result was a dramatic transformation - from something completely derelict to a structure realizing its original architectural genius. Breathtaking! Ken’s competence, focus and attention to detail, made this possible. Glen Mary is receiving great public acclaim. Visitors are awed by the stunning and authentic restoration. A triumph!
>
> Ken’s personal integrity commands respect, yet he is affable and patient, willing to explain and clearly communicate. His communication skills extend to structural engineers and contractors to ensure his artistic vision is translated into technically and structurally sound results.
>
> Ken is a delightful person and he has been a joy to work with!

  - Description: The structure is a rare surviving example of a late 18-th century Federal double house in Savannah. The original double staircase enclosure is unique among the City's historic buildings in that it extends to the attic level. The adaption of the first floor to commercial use occurred in the late 19th- century. The late Victorian storefront design is an interpretation of that period. The new siding was custom cut from river-recovered cypress logs and a bead was applied to match the dozen original…

  - Description: The owner of this historic property has a vision to create a grand residence with supporting outbuildings reflecting the height of early 19th-century plantation life. Georgian architectural style is the visual element which relates all buildings to each other. Located on a 2,800-acre plantation, the main house faces old rice fields which have been flooded to form a 300-acre lake. The 24,000 square-foot residence is the anchor for the siting of outbuilding groups which support the operations of t…
