Natural Community Services (NCS) is dedicated to conserving environmental quality and restoring integrity, beauty, and life to clients’ land, water, habitats, and biological resources, using organic products, while fostering the native plants and sustainable landscape movement. Principal Ecologist John DeLisle received his Masters in Environmental Science from U-M in 2008, and also holds a BS in Natural Resources/Horticulture from MSU. John is educated and experienced in assessing, planning, installing and maintaining native ecosystems. John worked 5 years as a landscape ecologist at the Detroit Zoo, and was a Biologist for 5 years with the USDA Emerald Ash Borer Program.  John started Natural Community Services in 2010 in the green infrastructure niche of environmental consulting, ecological restoration and native landscape design business segments, specializing in butterfly gardens, bioretention (aka rain gardens), wildlife/habitat assessments,  invasive species control, hydrological/water resources and soil assessments, forestry and agricultural consulting in rural and urban areas, environmental education and interpretive programming, and restoration of southeast MI natural areas and their processes.  Well-versed in the range of species characteristic of southeast MI communities and the physical and chemical conditions that form their environments,  John leads a team of natural resource and ecosystem restoration professionals who set things right using sustainable design, low-impact practices, and adaptive management.  NATURAL COMMUNITY SERVICES’ mission is to design, create, maintain, preserve, and promote ecologically sustainable public and private wetlands, woodlands, meadows, streams, and shorelines, using community appropriate native species. John uses land ethics and natural processes to restore life, function, aesthetics, and stability, to urban and rural habitats.
