We hired Adam Wilson from Icon Tile for a difficult kitchen tiling job. The job involved removing the remainder of a botched backsplash job (a certain large kitchen company left behind when we parted ways over their incredible incompetency) and convincing a pair of traumatized homeowners that he could do a far better job than the first guys. From literally day one it was obvious to us that Adam was our guy! He spent a lot of time with us planning and designing the job, while enduring our many questions and patiently reassuring us that he would do a professional job. He delivered big time! We couldn't be happier. It was a treat having him in our home each day. Adam is a perfectionist and takes great pride in his work. Once the work started, we relaxed and never once worried that the job wasn't going to come out beautifully. This project was not one for the inexperienced. The particular tiles we chose has different properties that had to be considered in the timing and placement of their installation. Otherwise, there would be slippage and the tiles would not be evenly separated. We had no clue about all of that when we selected the different size/type of tile. We just liked the way the metal and ceramic tiles looked together. Thank goodness Adam knew what to do. Now, a year after the work was completed, there isn't a day that goes by that I don't look at that backsplash and admire Adam's beautiful work and feel grateful that he was recommended to us (by Meghan Thorne at Arizona Tile). Prior to finding him for our kitchen backsplash, we were feeling pretty cynical about the tile industry, having worked with a few guys on our remodel (3 bathrooms) that left much to be desired (broken tiles, crooked tiles, no spacers, incorrect color grout, bad cuts, no floating, tiling right over crooked walls, overall sloppy work). So when it came to finding Adam, despite the great feedback around town, we were gun shy. > > Boy, did he restore our faith in the construction industry. Not only did he do his research on the type of tile we had selected, to make sure he was using best practices for that type of material, he and his guys were METICULOUS in the setting. He was able to camouflage some of the wall defects with precision, gave us multiple ideas for grout colors, and even left us with several fully grouted samples on cardboard to debate over, offering to come back and grout another day after we'd decided. > > In addition, Adam (upon our request) walked the rest of our project and advised us as to what went wrong with our previous tile setting jobs, and what could have been done to prevent all the problems.
