Our initial consultation is always complimentary. If a design is requested we may ask for a fee, this is based on the type of rendering requested i.e. hand drawn, digital, virtual video or 3D-CAD, etc. The design fee is also based on the amount of details needed or how many times we have to redesign or make changes (this is typically for city and HOA approvals). We estimate by line item which includes material and labor. We have a $7,500 minimum for our services.

> Long overdue review:
>
> Buyer beware. I hired this company to complete our backyard based on reviews and pictures. After our horrifying experience with them, now I’m realizing that those reviews and pictures may have been fake. The guy who came to our house for an estimate, his name is Armando. He came across kind and accommodating at the beginning until he got our business and we signed the contract. After that, he barely responded to our emails or texts and when I confronted him he got into a shouting match with me and completely disrespected me. Abe, is the owner of the company. He is good at pretending to be kind, accommodating and claims that he bends backwards for his customers. However, I find him to be a complete liar and irresponsible individual. Abe is good at making excuse for every thing that goes wrong and makes it sound like it’s the customers fault. When they started the project my babies were just born and we were promised 2 to 3 weeks. By the time they were completely done with the project my babies were 4months. I take full responsibility of delaying the project no more than 2 to 3 weeks by changing some of the plans;however, I know for sure that 4 months was not our fault. Abe, would tell us that his workers are going to show up and some days no one would show up. They did a horrible stucco job and did not honor the 90 day agreement regarding dyin.Keep In mind that it’s very expensive tree died due to the workers bending it while working on other projects.

**Comment from Colorworks Landscape Design:**

> Kiana & Randy,
>
> Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with our company. I just got off a conference call with both Abe and Armando to understand the full scope of what occurred during your job.
>
> First, I apologize on behalf of Colorworks for an experience less then exceptional. We strive to be the best in all we do for our customers and it sounds like we fell short of that expectation.
>
> What I do want to confirm is the 70+ 5-star reviews are not fake, but I understand the emotional sentiment.
>
> It is never our intention to take longer than initially discussed, but many factors come into play when a timeline isn’t met. This particular instance it sounds like there were custom items or materials added after the fact, which does add time. Anytime there is diversion from the original contract, time is added due to the reordering of new materials the stopped production of our crews, and the time it takes to discuss the new options with the homeowner and to ensure the guys performing the work have a clear understanding of the new changes we are making. There’s also the additional time it takes to get the new material to the job site, wether that is sending someone from our crew to pick it up or scheduling and coordinating the time with the vendor to have it delivered. And what we have learned this year with the closures of all manufacturing companies and delays with the unfortunate California wildfires, what took time in previous years, has now doubled or even tripled with these new additional setbacks.
>
> To address the stucco; it is not uncommon to hire a professional in a certain field to take on part of a particular job. I know Abe suggested hiring a professional stucco expert of your satisfaction and Colorworks would fort the bill. We were happy to do that for the inconvenience and I’m glad they were able to get the stucco to your liking.
>
> I know the guys talked to Randy since this review so it sounds like the only unfinished or unsatisfactory item left is the tree. We offer a 90 day warranty from the time of installation of that said tree however, as I looked back at our contract, it does not specify “at time of installation” so we are happy to either handle the proper maintenance of the tree to return it back to a healthy state, or if it is indeed dead, to replace it and of course at no charge. Jon will call you folks today to discuss a time that works for you to look at the tree and what next steps we can take to hopefully turn this experience around for you both.
>
> Thank you again for taking the time to express your thoughts and your experience. We will take this as a humbled learning curve and to work on all the areas mentioned above. Although it is difficult to picture both Abe and Armando at separate times yelling at the top of their lungs, I do understand this is your interpretation of the conversation so we will address this with the team as well. There are things out of our control but the line of communication and the way in which we conduct ourselves is definitely an area we take full responsibility for.

> Sincerely,
>

> I'm so glad we decided to go with Colorworks to do our front yard landscaping! Bryan did a wonderful job designing our front yard. Bimia and Jon were quick to respond to any questions/concerns I had. Jon, Juan Carlos, Rolando, Enrique and Santos were great at communicating, giving me suggestions and getting the work done in a timely manner. Actually, our front yard was finished earlier than I expected! The crew worked everyday M-F and worked hard and diligently to make our front yard beautiful. We love our drought tolerant plants, new lawn and walkway and diamond cut driveway! I definitely recommend Colorworks if you are interested in getting any landscaping done!

> We hired John and Colorworks to convert our lawns into a more drought tolerant design. In addition they replaced the back fences and installed lighting. John was very knowledgeable and professional. He had many ideas that he bounced off us but he still worked with our overall design needs. The yards were installed in fall 2016 and was completed on time. With the Now in spring the flowers and plants are blooming and filling out very nicely. We are very happy with the project and would definitely recommend Colorworks..

> I CANNOT RAVE ABOUT THESE GUY ENOUGH!!!!! Our yard was a mess!! I work with lots of contractors both personally and for work...so when I give 5 STARS it's no joke. This company is so easy to work with and amazingly efficient. Jon is a stand up guy who pays attention to detail. If they promise you something, they come thru. Armando designed a beautiful yard plan that I just love, and he gave every choice he could offer to save us money and fit our budget and still make it so beautiful. He incorporated an area for entertaining and my vege garden as well. Angel and his crew worked so hard and efficiently, I was really impressed. Most crews don't really put in a full day of heavy labor....this crew went full steam all day. All the guys were super friendly and respectful. Angel was great to offer information and ideas. They were fantastic to clean up everyday...obviously with dirt, sod and mulch there is always a little bit of mess..lol
> This company will definitely be my go to for any jobs I can use them on because they know what they are doing, they are really above board, honest and do not price gouge you or sneak in costs. In addition, the crew did not need to be monitored or babysat at all, they know exactly what they are doing. I LOVE MY YARD and everyday my plants get bigger and I furnish the yard I am going to be more and more thrilled. I wish there was room for many more pics.
> THANKS SO MUCH JON, ARMANDO, ANGEL AND CREW!!!!!!!

> I hired John and Colorworks to re-do my backyard. They were very responsive and did an excellent job communicating with me. I received two other quotes and they were pretty much all in a similar range. But John was nicer and seemed more knowledgeable, so I went with him. There were several workers throughout the project and they always showed up on time and worked really hard. John drew up some plans for the project and we added and removed a couple of things and it is just perfect! In fact, I am now having them do my front yard. I don't know this guy from Adam, but I kind of feel like we are friends now. He's just a really nice down to earth guy and he truly cared about making sure I was 100% satisfied! You can see the before and after pictures below!

**★★★★★ — Leah Brew, Feb. 2017**

> Jon and his team were amazingly professional. I hired them to convert my front yard to be drought resistant. I had a vision for what I wanted and his designer took my idea and improved upon it before actually doing the work. They contacted me as they purchased plants to make sure they would work for me (I have a kid and didn't want anything pointy). Because I was able to be around, they invited me to help make choices about certain things like big rocks (I wanted them flat and safe for kids to jump). They also were mindful about my budget limitations and gave recommendations to help me meet that limit. The team was hard-working, considerate, and were pleasant to work with! If we needed more work done, I wouldn't hesitate to call them again.

**★★★★★ — Mark Spriggs, Feb. 2017**

> Colorworks Landscape has been a certified installer of synthetic grass for our company for over 3 years. We continue to contract Colorworks because of the quality workmanship and attention to detail, large crews to get jobs done in a timely manner with a reasonable budget and guarantee their handywork. We especially like to refer this company to our customers that are interested in transforming their whole yard. From pavers, to planting, to artificial turf, this is the company to handle the whole project for you.

**★★★★★ — Kara Zerounian, Oct. 2016**

> John and Colorworks Landscape were referred to us by a online review. Upon digging around for low water use landscaping and design I found Xeristyle, they were terribly unresponsive and Colorworks popped up. After looking through the picture on Colorworks website I decided they were worthy of inviting out for a bid. Within a few hours of talking to him, John already knew exactly what we wanted. John is extremely knowledgeable on all landscaping concepts and knows precisely what works and what doesn’t. His crew is very meticulous, courteous and neat. They also worked around a finished driveway paver system while fixing an existing sprinkler system which had some issues. It was a good sized project and John made sure that each area of a project was being worked on simultaneously and in harmony. Additionally, everyone cleaned up at the end of each day. The finished product looks amazing and everyone stayed late the last day just to make sure everything was perfect. Finally, he was every fair in terms of pricing and ended up doing many items on the house.
>
> We could not be happier with the outcome and highly recommend him for any outside landscape or hardscape project.
