A: The dining table was purchased before the client hired me. I believe she purchased the table at Ethan Allen. I was hired to finish the room with lighting, wall coverings, rug, sideboard and accessories. Someone to draw up plans, the designer, and then the contractor? I'm confused as to where to start. I need two walls taken down for my current project. Does the designer normally have these people on hand or should I find them? Thank you! A: ^all true! **Q: Need ideas for curb appeal!** *(in Design Dilemma)* We are thinking of selling our house and so it's time to get some things done. First and foremost, we plan on doing some repairs and having the house painted as soon as the weather gets warmer, so we'll be getting bids soon. The house is currently this awful tan color I have wanted to paint for years. The shutters are green, in case you have trouble telling from the photo, as are the double front doors. I know I need to replace the stairway railing in order to come up to code. I had thought of painting the house a pale yellow butter color, leaving the doors and shutters green. I don't really want to change the door color...but I might. It's fairly impossible to tell from the photos, but the trim around the windows are arches, I'll attach a drawing of it, but I'm no artist. I know it needs some plantings...we took out the bushes in the front and I've thought of putting some large urns on the river rock that fill the area around the basement windows. The planters on the landing are very old and I need to replace them with something. The lights all are the same style, but the ones on the house have seen better days...since they are identical, I'd thought to see if I could paint them white to match the new one between the garage doors. The glass doors have seen better days, but we don't have the money to replace them...I'd like to see if I couldn't paint the metal frames as well, but don't know what, if anything, to use. Any ideas on paint and decorating are welcome. A: The brick remained the same, the shutters were done with earth tones and any any siding on the house other than brick was done a shade lighter than the shutters. New hardware and a beautiful green color were added to the front door. **Q: Round table? How many can it seat** *(in Photo Questions)* A: This table seats 10 comfortably. **Q: Need help with my living/ family room** *(in Design Dilemma)* Any recommendations are welcome. We just painted the walls and we like the color. Buffet and book case I like to keep as well.Coffee table can be relocated, curtains need to be changed, as well as pillows. This room is really long and narrow: 25 by 12 feet. Right corner - white leather in front of tv, left corner - dinning area. Piano and aquarium will be moved in the other room. Need help to pick colors of pillows curtains, art. Also the middle portion of the room- it's totally empty. Any advice is welcome . Thank you. A: The biggest issue I see is that your carpet is too small for the space. Your furniture should be "all on" or "all off" of the carpet. In your case, all "on" would visually enlarge your space and make it appear more cohesive. Also, I would frame your windows with the drapery rather than hang the panels in between. Keep them on the outside of the window frame for a cleaner, neater look. Once you get that into place, your space will immediately feel more open and pulled together....then you can have fun with your accessories...some mirrors, colorful pillows and lamps :) Good luck! --- *Source: Houzz professional profile.
