> Beth is an amazing landscape designer and we feel so fortunate to have worked with her on our front & back yards. Our property is quite large, steeply graded and was badly dated and barely useable. Beth designed a spectacular space that is not only beautiful but makes full use of the property and is also low maintenance. From the hardscaping (concrete retaining walls, concrete steps, shed, and dining arbor) to the plants (grasses, palms, ollies, etc.) to the elements (fire pit, lounge chairs, blankets & vases) there was no detail that went unnoticed or unplanned. Beth is wonderful to work with (she checks in often, makes frequent site visits, acts as a go-between with the landscaping crew, responds to emails quickly, and is gracious and respectful) and the landscaping crew that she works with was equally fantastic. We couldn’t have asked for a better outcome or experience.

**★★★★★ — Chris B, June 2019**

> We are working with beth and could not be more pleased. She listens. She has an eye. She's exceptionally talented. Her build partner is awesome and has an amazing crew.
>
> After having a pretty crummy experience with a designer a few years ago, it is nice to be working with someone who you really trust! We're so excited for our yard.

**★★★★★ — Renuka Kher, April 2019**

> Beth is simply amazing! She is passionate, professional, deeply knowledgable and cares deeply about her craft and brings that ethos to every project that she takes on. She is an excellent designer and project manager and a joy to collaborate with. It’s astounding to reflect on and look at pictures of what our space looked like before Beth entered the scene.
>
> She has an exquisite eye for detail and possesses that rare blend of being a creative artist who is able to combine aesthetics, function and minimalism in the most BEAUTIFUL way. She also partners with other high quality artists and nature lovers to bring her designs to life.
>
> She brought a simple but meaningful vision that I had for our garden to life in a way that far surpassed our expectations. As a focal point, we wanted a large circular seated bench (seats 15 people) to serve as a communal gathering space (think modern day camp fire) and to create memories in community with all of the special people in our life. The front of our house also needed a facelift.
>
> Our project was completed in time for Diwali of last year and we hosted a large gathering that resulted in a magical evening in the most serene setting. Since that night, we continue to spend more and more time outside enjoying the garden, S’mores by the fire pit, meals with friends and family, and creating meaningful memories that will last a lifetime. It has become the sanctuary of our home.
>
> Her design of our garden beds is a gift that keeps on giving. We have planted so many delicious vegetables, salad greens, teas and flowers and as a family (we have 2 young kids) we have started to harvest from our own garden and cook together. It’s impacted our diet in a positive way and is deepening our relationship with nature.
>
> She is simply the best and I really miss working with her since our project has concluded.
> Look no further if you are looking for a top-notch landscape designer to transform your space!

> I honestly do not think that I could be any happier with my experience working with Beth. She's a dream to collaborate with, her ideas for transforming a space are second to none, and she works with rockstar contractors.
>
> My yard was ok to begin with and now it's like my own personal oasis. Beth managed to create so many unique spaces in the yard. I can now entertain groups of all sizes or just enjoy a glass of wine by the fire by myself. The yard has become like an additional room to the house (arguably the best one!). Even her finishing touches were spot on. I absolutely love my space and would not hesitate to recommend Beth to anyone looking to reinvent their yard.

**★★★★★ — R F, Sept. 2017**

> We could not be happier with the work that Beth has done for us. Our backyard was a tired old diamond in the rough that needed a complete overhaul including multiple retaining walls, a dog play area and a plant palate that not only suited our aesthetic, but required little maintenance. Beth developed a proposal that addressed all of our issues in a cohesive and beautiful design, and provided us with excellent direction during the construction phase. Beth’s design sensibility is incredible and her thoughtful approach to our yard has turned it into a place that we look forward to spending time in daily. It has been a pleasure working with Beth and we look forward to further collaborations as our home grows and our needs change.

**★★★★★ — Steve Nye, Aug. 2017**

> Beth is a delight to collaborate with. She has a unique ability to take a rough idea and turn it into something tangible and magical, adding her own slant to create real beauty. She handled roadblocks with calm ease and made the whole project a lot of fun. The end result was absolute serenity and so much more than we could have envisioned.

**★★★★★ — Ryan Lynch, July 2017**

> Beth is the most wonderful, collaborative, and creative landscape designer with whom I've had the pleasure of working. Our garden was the most beautiful and comfortable spaces that was an oasis in the middle of the busy city. The creative ideas Beth brought to the table really transformed the ordinary into mind blowing serenity. I look forward to working with her again!

**★★★★★ — Amanda Smith, June 2017**

> Beth was a joy to work with! It was a wonderful experience from start to finish. Her design skills and attention to detail are amazing! I love her mix of modern hardscaping with natural planting. 4 years on I love the way my garden has matured and changed. Being a fashion designer I am hard to please and Beth exceeded my expectations.

> Working with Beth is the best thing we have done to improve our home since buying it in 2011. She transformed our front, back, and side yards into beautiful and functional spaces that I never could have dreamed of on my own. We have a small front yard with a slope and about 12 stairs leading up to the front door--where previously there was a mish mash of plantings, she created a grassy hill and planted olive trees so that now it looks lush, beautiful, much more spacious, and it provides privacy and lovely views from our living room windows. Our back yard previously lacked a focal point, lacked interest, and had an ugly deck. Beth designed a beautiful space with an inviting, highly functional deck, which completely has transformed how we use our yard. We have a covered sand box built into the deck, storage for toys inside the benches, and a new sense of openness and flow from our back and side-doors (and ingeniously improved access to our basement). Now we love to eat outside on the built-in ipe table (which previously was an area of clutter). With the use of planters, we now have a blueberry patch, strawberry patch, blackberry patch, and veggies and herbs that the kids love to forage. Beth has created beauty and cohesiveness in our yard, and it perfectly reflects all that I could have hoped for but was unable to articulate. She also was very patient, responsive and involved in all stages of the design development (and as we saw the wonder of her work unfold, we kept adding on more projects we wanted her to help us with:). She is a true artist, exceptionally talented, and she brings her highest focus to making one's home a sanctuary reflective of one's idealized space. Thank you, Beth! I am so grateful to have worked with you!

**★★★★★ — Ellinor Coder, May 2017**

> Look no further for a landscape designer! Beth transformed our sad backyard from cracked concrete to an urban, family-friendly, relaxing oasis. I could not be happier with our garden three years later. The plant selections are perfect for our part-shaded, part-sunny yard. They have grown in well and stayed healthy, which is a tribute to the quality of installation and plants as well as the plant selections. Our backyard is now my favorite room in the house. She also works with top-notch hardscapers and recommended someone who sewed absolutely perfect outdoor cushions for the ipe storage bench she designed.

**★★★★★ — Austin Quig-Hartman, May 2017**

> Growsgreen Landscape Design was fantastic! We absolutely love the way our backyard turned out. Beth was very thoughtful in her approach and worked closely with us to make sure we had a shared vision for the project. I would highly recommend working with Growsgreen Landscape Design!

**★★★★★ — Karen Earle, May 2017**

> Working with Beth, we were able to create an amazing back yard. Our yard has several levels, which can be a challenge. In addition, living is foggy San Francisco, we wanted to maximize use of the back yard for our family of 5 (plus dog) during cold weather. Beth designed a wonderful garden with a fire pit, a heated bench, and heaters to help with warmth. She added beautiful wind resistant plants, deck and a fountain. She thought creatively for the best ways to use our unusual space and finds ways to make all areas more useable. She was highly professional and always available to answer our questions (and we had many). We are delighted with the finished product and can't wait to spend more time in our backyard. Thanks Beth!!

 - Description: This garden previously had no structure to it except some minor steps and a failing retaining wall. By completely redoing the grade and adding the functional elements to the garden, each tier was defined as a gathering, eating, kitchen or lounging area. Up top a shed was created for storage and raised vegetable beds continue the geometric hardscaping as you move up the space. The bench by the fountain allows for the visitor to be within the plants and near water. The concrete bench and lower ste…

 - Description: Modern soft garden designed for use. Previously this garden was a tiny deck and huge lawn. We made it more useful by expanding the deck footprint and redesigning the deck and central planter to integrate the other newly added spaces. The retaining wall houses a low water no mow fescue lawn and dymondia lawn substitute is also abundant.

 - Description: This garden was a parking lot! We redesigned it to be a respite for the family who lives here. It has a nice modern clean deck, lush plantings for privacy from the neighbors and drought tolerant. The modern concrete pavers organize the space and act as both path and patio, and also leave less room for weeds.

 - Description: This garden was just a square patch of dirt. I designed it to have a concrete pad with the focal fire feature. The black and charcoal concrete sets off the new plantings, the new IPE benches and bar. The aqua cove pebbles and bright blue chairs add nice pops of color to the space.

 - Description: This garden was previously a sloping hill toward the house. It had a perimeter walkway with a central lawn area that the clients had converted into a veggie patch. The clients realized they loved being outside in the space and so they wanted a design that included vegetables (now easily accessed in raised beds behind the floating benches) but also areas for their family to eat and play in. We installed a sprinkler in the corner of the festuca planter that they can run through on hot days but als…

 - Description: This garden already had a deck so I revamped the plantings and built a screen around the existing fence, which we painted a nice sage green. I also took boards off of the existing bench and table to tie in with the new screen. Over time as the new olives and plantings grow, they will fill in around the screen and add texture and color to the space.

 - Description: We worked around the existing deck to add stone veneered planters, concrete pads and gravel for a usable space as well as a new IPE floating bench and plants. The containers all add some nice colors to the garden as do the succulents. It is now very usuable where before only the deck was used by the client.

## Community Q&A

**Q: Type of gravel?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Curious which type of gravel this is. After hearing various pros and cons, we're currently seesawing between pea gravels and crushed rock. Your designs are always so thoughtful, so I'd love to hear what this is exactly and why it was chosen? Thanks.

A: I like to use angular rock as it compacts well and you won't roll an ankle. 3/4-1" is good with plenty of compacted base rock beneath it. What rock yards have varies over the months and years depending on what part of the quarry they are mining from. I would recommend getting some samples to look at in the context of your space to see what feels nice to you aesthetically. Hope this helps! b

**Q: water feature or fountain?** *(in Photo Questions)*

Hello! The water feature is absolutely stunning! Can you elaborate whether it is a fountain or a drainage system? How is is leveled /constructed at the base and what material is is made of, I guessed corten steel?
Thank you!

A: Hi it is a custom corten water feature. I suggest contacting a local contractor to build one for you as I am not able to give construction information due to liability and I am not a contractor, but a designer. thank you

**Q: What is the name of rhe frosted and black panels?** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the name of the frosted and black panel?

A: Hi- they are my interpretation of outdoor shoji screens. Wood framing I designed with opaque panels.

**Q: Fire pit** *(in Photo Questions)*

Love the fire pit. Where can I get something similar?

A: I recommend Paloform for a great fire feature.

**Q: Step Lights** *(in Photo Questions)*

Any chance you could share the source of these fantastic step lights?

A: They were custom fitted by a local metal shop from wall light fixtures.

**Q: Beautiful garden! Love the plant combinations you've chosen..** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is that Dymondia between the concrete pads? Have you ever used it in open shade?

A: hi- it does not grow well in shade. I am not sure what you mean by open shade. I have seen it grow in a perfect circle around the outside of a dripline or canopy of the palm- distinctly NOT growing under the shade.
