Timberbuilt designs and builds award-winning, ultra-efficient timber frame homes for sophisticated residential and commercial clients throughout the United States and Canada  – all from our headquarters outside of Buffalo, NY.

We design our homes to create dramatic spaces that feel bigger than they are, incorporating unusual shapes, distinctive materials, and hand-crafted mortise and tenon joinery to complement the beauty of the timbers.  

We tie our builds deeply into their environment, taking into account factors like directional sunlight, landscape options, and the views from your windows and porches.  And it’s not just about looks — your air-sealed, super-insulated home will be a functional beauty that can run on a smaller HVAC system, yielding lower utility bills and minimizing your carbon footprint.

These designs are the culmination of our 25 years as builders, designers, and occupants of timber frame homes. We’ve refined and rebuilt many of these homes over and over, improving them through each evolution, combining elements from previous versions that work, removing those that do not.

Structural and mechanical engineering has been tested and honed which gives us the familiarity needed to keep the plans flexible. Rooms can expand, contract, and sometimes vanish altogether. Porches and basements can be added or removed. Garages too.

By using our hybrid timber frame building system, we combine the strength and efficiency of structural insulated panels (SIPs) for your walls and roof with exposed, load bearing timbers. These resulting homes are architecturally distinct, energy efficient, and sustainable.

> We recently built a Timberbuilt house in Cape Breton in Maritime Canada. One of the design concerns was occasional rough weather on the sea coast. We have been in the house when a "N'or Easter" has hit and even with 70mph gusts you would never know there is a storm outside.   The Douglas Fir framing was perfect and the SIP assemblies were never off by more than 1/8" for the entire 8500 sq. ft. house.
> The total project was close to 1 million and Timberbuilt's estimate was right on the money. The beams, trusses and posts added real character and the bold openness of the design allows great views, companionship with our many guests, and a sense of warmth we tried to capture. Timberbuit's  tradesmen impressed my local workers, no small accomplishment given Nova Scotia's skilled tradesmen are legendary throughout Canada. Timberbuilt helped us make a dream come true.  The  house will be a legacy to our family for generations to come.

> We are at the permitting stage with our home right now.  Up to this point Timberbuilt has been has been fantastic.  We spent time at the "old" factory and received a tour and explanation of how the components of our home will be fabricated.  All questions have been answered and everyone at Timberbuilt has been very patient with us.  They have been great with our local contractor and explained all of the traps and suggestions associated with integrating the timber frame/SIPS with stick frame and interior construction.  They have also been on top of changes requested by our county building department.  GREAT TO WORK WITH.

Wall color and brand?

A: We do NOT provide a turnkey product and therefore don't know what the clients used for their finishing materials and colors. Sorry that we couldn't be more helpful!

A: Hello! We did not do the finish work in the house so unfortunately we don't know the paint color. Timberbuilt only constructs the structural shell of the home (timbers, SIP walls and SIP roof). Sorry we couldn't be more helpful!

Love the paint color, do you happen to remember the name of it?

A: @aclotm89 Hello! Unfortunately we do not know what paint color the client used. Timberbuilt only handles the structural aspect of the build (timbers and SIPs). After that, the finishes that the client chooses is between them and their general contractor. I'm so sorry that we couldn't be more helpful!

Hi, would you happen to recall the color of the stain on the timbers? It looks great!

A: @aclotm89 Hello! This is our "white wash" timber stain. It's a mixture of custom-made oil combined with a colored pigment (in this case, a white powder). I hope this helps!!
