> Simply the best! They were courteous and very interested in finding the best way to design while considering cost, energy efficiency and environmental impact. Incredibly honest and reliable.

> Jim Wirght is an architectural purist when it comes to designing homes. His attention to detail in form and function is very evident in his renditions. My wife and I bought one of the pre-designed French Country home plans and got him to customize it to our needs. Unfortunately, the Village of New Albany where we were planning to build had its own design guidelines, which required the homes to conform to certain themes like Colonial American Architectural Precedence (Georgian, colonial revival, Farmhouses for example). And we had to start all over because the village did not like our French Country home style. Jim went above and beyond to make the necessary elevation and massing changes to conform to New Albany zoning. Throughout the process he accommodated our wishes and incorporated them into the design of our home. I believe we now have a very unique and functional farmhouse design that looks great on paper. With the grace of God, we are really looking forward to see this materialize.

**Comment from Residential Designed Solutions:**

> Thanks Milroy, It was a pleasure working with you and Anuja and I am looking forward to seeing your home started soon!

> We loved the exterior design plans. Have used one as inspiration for our exterior home remodel. He worked with us to discuss our ideas but also had some wonderful alternative ideas as well. Plans were well developed and appeared unique to our style.

**Comment from Residential Designed Solutions:**

> Thank you Megan! Glad to hear that the ideas worked for you.

> It was enjoyable experience to work with Residential Designed Solutions to plan and design our dream home.
> It started with interview to understand our life style and requirement. We had couple of follow meetings to review the plan and the options. The meeting was very effective and useful to understand the impact of each scenario to the layout, flow, and the cost.

> Jim was wonderful to work with from the very beginning. He listened to what we were looking for and gave us the home of our dreams. He was open to listening to our changes and in the end we have gotten exactly what we were looking for. He was very professional every step of the way.

**Comment from Residential Designed Solutions:**

> I really enjoyed working with you to design your home and it is going to be fantastic-looking forward to drywall and trim stages so you can see it all come together!

**★★★★★ — krisc93, June 2015**

> We were in the middle of a remodel when our house collapsed. I had to get options together as to rebuild on to what was left of our home or to tear down and start new. I outreached to RDS, spoke to Dominic who took my message, and received a call back in record time. Jim scheduled a visit with his structural engineer within a few days to come out to our site. Jim had me come in to design a sketch to build on to the back of our 1800's brick home. The sketch was amazing and came together very quickly. His design process is simple but thorough and allows for changes that he sketches on the spot. Ultimately, we have made the decision to tear down and build new. We do not have the time for a full customized designed from beginning to end but Jim had solutions for us. I feel confident that he has designed the house of our dreams within our budget. He is knowledgeable about building and associated costs. With little to no timeline, Jim manages to fit us in every time I call. The office staff that I have interacted with are friendly with smiles on their faces. I cannot say enough good things about Residential Designed Solutions. I am thrilled that I found Jim and look forward to working with him to get our new house under way. Thank you Jim!
> After almost a year, we are going home this week. RDS is amazing and Jim is second to none. Thank you RDS!

**Comment from Residential Designed Solutions:**

> Thanks so much Kris for your nice comments. I am very happy to hear that you're moving in this week, I know its been a long haul but I hope you have many happy years in your new home!

## Community Q&A

**Q: It's my style. I want to build a similar house but a little smaller.** *(in Photo Questions)*

what is the SF of this house?
how much did it cost? What year was it built?
what was the fee for architect ?
how long did it take to design the plan?
how long did it take to build?

A: 5,150 Sf on two floors, lower level finish not included, the house was built about 10 years ago, three to six months to develop the plans depending on how quickly you get back to us after each phase is completed, about a year build time. Fee and construction costs remain confidential.

**Q: Island** *(in Photo Questions)*

Can you please share the dimensions of the kitchen island?

A: Sorry it has taken me so long to see your questions, usually they pop into my email inbox. The island is 12' x4'

**Q: Location** *(in Photo Questions)*

Is this sports court under the garage? Do you have a floor plan available to view of this home? Beautiful!!

A: Todd,
Thanks for your question! No this sport court was under the great room, study and owners suite at a basement and sub-basement level. Since this was a custom home for a client I don't feel I can share the floor plan on social media. If you want to contact me directly I'd be happy to set up an appointment.

**Q: Paint** *(in Photo Questions)*

What is the wall color please

A: Thanks for asking! I asked the builder and he says the Dining Room paint color is Benjamin Moore HC-163.

**Q: Barb** *(in Photo Questions)*

I live the rug where buy it

A: Barb, I'm sorry but the builder decorated the house and I am not familiar with their sources for furnishings. www.BobWebb.com

**Q: Need help making home look nicer** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Me and my wife just bought this house. Right now we feel like it is very boring. We really like old bungalows and the craftsman style, but we're not sure if a craftsman style on the inside would look weird because of the house layout. We also aren't sure what sort of changes we could make on the outside to make the house look more craftsman, again, because of the layout. Check out my ideabook for pictures of the hosue.

A: There is really no correlation between the interior and the exterior doors IMO because the stile width around the French doors is going to be similar to any other door you select. It is a uniform width because you need that much beef for door latches and handles. Uniform width ties them visually together and a matching finish will complete the look.
