From the top of the Mount Soledad Memorial to the surf-lapped beaches of San Diego's coast, there are few neighborhoods in America's Finest City that have not been made more beautiful by the work of the craftsmen at GDC Construction.

The bulk of the work completed by this family-run business has been in polishing the jewel of La Jolla, creating some of that community's most graceful and prestigious private homes and some of its' most memorable commercial buildings.

From holistic design/build concepts to more simple renovations, to complex engineering projects, GDC's talented team is ready to take on whatever construction project the homeowners and business owners of San Diego can conjure up. Whether it's stripping a musty old commercial building to turn it into a showcase for Roche Bobois' stunning furniture, or matching the tiles of a Mediterranean-style beach cottage's bathroom to the home's innovative frescoes, GDC has the eye, the ability, and the perseverance to get the job done just right.

**★ — Nathan Walters, Jan. 2025**

> Stay away from this builder!! I was hired to do some work for them back in August of 2024. They still have not paid me!! They are not and have not returned my phone calls. Any time I have spoken to their office manager Sky, she always says she look into it and call me back, but she never does. Make sure you collect before you do any work for them, they're shady!

**★★★★★ — Access Custom Garage Doors, March 2016**

> GDC and Access have worked together on numerous projects. Every time we wrap up a job, I see the success in the finished projects and what a pleasure they are at the finish line.
>
> We look forward to continuing the projects with GDC.

**★★★★★ — RL Jones, Feb. 2016**

> From our experience, GDC has set the bar for quality in design and craftsmanship. Whether it has been for condo renovations, design enhancement on a current residence, or ground-up construction of a new home, the entire team is always professional, respectful, and takes pride in the product they provide. Equally important is the relationship built with Pancho and his team. Once the deal is done, they continue to be a presence. We appreciate this attention to detail and to their work.

**★★★★★ — Jeanne Liem Architecture + Design, Aug. 2015**

> I have had the pleasure working with GDC Construction for an extensive remodel and addition project in La Jolla. Pancho and his team are always courteous to my clients and me. They're always on top on everything. Their sub-contractors are great. If there're some issues with the construction process, GDC always willing to work it out with us. Needless to say, I will give them a chance to bid on my other projects in the future.

**★★★★★ — IS Architecture, June 2015**

> GDC Construction has become one of our most referred general contractors. IS Architecture has designed several projects that have then been built by GDC to the highest level of quality. Their team approaches high-end custom residential construction with a thorough and keen eye, and they maintain the best customer service with both clients and fellow professionals. We continue to refer them as a general contractor to all our clients because we know the job will be thoroughly and beautifully done.

> GDG Construction successes through the generations of construction in La Jolla. This 90-year-old construction firm persisted through long and detailed negotiations to win the hearts and mind of this demanding client. The project had gone through a complicated design process to transform a tired 1970 rental home into a 2,980 square foot contemporary three-story flex home. The 2015 flex home contains one level for family and friends on the first floor. The owners have the second and third floor to themselves all connected by a common stair. The project when through a budget challenge and a very technical building process, which was easily managed by the crack team and GDC. Pancho Dewhurst and his team of Forman Karl Svododa effortlessly transform this home into the “cool coastal” flex home for generations to come. The home flows from a small forecourt into a large open plan out through wall-to-wall glass door out to an expansive deck overlooking the pacific. The top floor is a snug master suite with a private balcony terrace for sunset cocktails for the homeowners.

**★★★★★ — Coastal Tree Care, June 2015**

> GDC is a 4th generation La Jolla builder with a reputation for doing excellent work and we have experienced it firsthand. They are very knowledgeable in all phases of construction and always provide quality results. From office staff, to the foreman and crews, to the VP and the CEO, their pleasant, professional, friendly employees make them a pleasure to work with. Their clients speak very highly of Pancho and the GDC team and are always pleased with their work. We have been doing business together for over 5 years, including maintaining the large Star Pine in downtown La Jolla that GDC decorates every year during the Christmas holiday. It is a pleasure working with GDC and we highly recommend them to others in the area.

**★★★★★ — AUDIO IMPACT, May 2015**

> We have worked with GDC construction many times over the years, and they have always been professional, caring, and driven to create the best results possible. Pancho and his team have consistently shown their dedication to their work, and their homes are beautiful as a result. We would definitely recommend this company to people (and in fact, we have!).

**★★★★★ — 1954robert, May 2015**

> Our interior design firm has worked on several projects with GDC Construction. The first project was approximately fifteen years ago, and we continue today working with them on a variety of work. The projects have ranged from room additions, a complete remodel of a condominium unit, to several extensive home remodels in La Jolla. GDC Construction has been a leader in the custom home construction industry for many years. They have an excellent reputation due to their quality workmanship, professional manner and customer care. We enjoy working together - it is always a successful collaboration.

> GDC Construction has been a client of my branding and design firm, Breedlove Creative, Inc., for the last 9 years. Over this time, I have experienced an exceptional working relationship that always results in quality output. The owner Pancho is a visionary leader with a keen sense of style and aesthetics and knows what it takes to push a project past the ordinary. The GDC team has always been very professional and are dedicated to the success of every creative project we take on together – big or small. Clear communication has always been at the core of our working relationship. I’ve also witnessed the long list of raving testimonials we’ve collected from their clients who have been thrilled with the positive outcomes of their construction projects. And by looking at their portfolio, anyone that works with GDC is guaranteed a top notch result. I look forward to creating with GDC for many more years to come.
