**Q: What is the name of the granite?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: That is sienna Bordeaux granite

**Q: Island design in kitchen** *(in Design Dilemma)*

We have now decided to remove a closet opening up our kitchen, with an option of "L" shape or "U" shape.  One would have a 84x39" island, the other "U" one would have 44x47" island both with a dining table.  The large one seems too much surface for one room.  I will try and send photos.

A: The L shaped one is more open and airy as the U shaped is boxy and will create a bottleneck at the fridge/island area.

**Q: Window treatment help PLEASE!!!** *(in Design Dilemma)*

This is the kitchen window that will overlook our backyard (with eventual pool) in our retirement home in Arizona.  I would like to leave the top half bare so we can enjoy the view of the mountain in the distance. The window is 8 ft wide and 5 ft tall. I've investigated the top down/bottom up shades but it seems the window is too wide for one. We will have grandchildren visiting often so cord safety is required. Our style is very simple so no drapes to the floor. Any suggestions are GREATLY appreciated! Thank you so much.

A: Plantation shutters are great as they allow light in when you need/want it and since it's not fabric it does not hold in any odors (esp food odors from cooking) and they come in a variety of colors

What is the brand and name of this backsplash?

A: The back splash is Florida Tile Brand, Bliss Series, Fossil Rock Linear

**Q: Help with moulding and paneling colors** *(in Design Dilemma)*

Planning on painting the following semi gloss white to help the rooms pop:  
Family Room: all moulding/floor trim/windows 
Dining Room: all moulding/chair rail/windows/floor trim
Family room is orange on three sides (regular drywall). The fireplace side is wood panel with a cream color. (I painted the fireplace mantel high gloss white so you can tell difference).  Should I paint the family room panel a semi gloss to match the moulding/fireplace or should I do a satin white? Or do a light neutral color to help make all the moulding really pop. 
Similar question for dining room What should I paint the wall under the chair rail....semi gloss to match moulding and chair rail or just do a satin white (eventually will have square shaped wainscoating using 1x4's).

A: I would paint all moldings and trim the same throughout...in the dining room anything that is supposed to appear as an architectural element should be the same finish (semi gloss white) even the wall under the chair rail as you will add the moldings later to make it appear as a wainscot panel.  In the family room I would paint the paneling the same as the wall color so it flows more and takes away from the fact that it is paneling.

**Q: What type, brand, colour of tile/stone is this?** *(in Photo Questions)*

A: That is a quartzite that was purchased from a local vendor.  Their name is Safari Stone and their number is 820-602-0189.  It was purchased in late 2011- to early 2012 so they may not have anything like it now.
