  - Description: We recently completed a full interior renovation for our clients in north Fresno with an elegant but functional redesign of the home they’ve loved and lived in for nearly thirty years. Their vision was clear to create a timeless space that blends comfort, sophistication and just the right touch of drama. The result includes a new kitchen, breakfast nook, formal dining room and wine cellar all which reflects their shared love of food and wine while gathering with friends and family. We can’t wait…

A: I love the bookcase idea but it is something you cannot just "add" you have to plan for it during the design phase. My vote today goes for the pendant lights.

Before and after pictures of a fixed wall replaced by a NanaWall folding glass wall opening out to the lake.

A: Our first home we bought in 8-88 in Fresno, CA. A number I will never forget. It was an 1100 square foot tract home, single story that only needed minor cosmetic enhancements…nothing that an engineer and interior designer couldn't handle all by themselves as DIY'ers. Sold it four years later for a profit of 16K. What a nice down payment on a brand new home for two 30 year olds!

**Q: How can we update this painted brick fireplace?** *(in Design Dilemma)*

My mom removed the dark wood paneling in the family of room of her 1969 ranch home to brighten it up. Now this asymmetric white painted fireplace is the focal point of the room. Is there any way to update it?

A: Are you a traditionalist or a contemporist? What style does the house lean itself to? These are all things to consider before making your decision. If you like contemporary I like the asymetry of the current fireplace. If not the surrounds look nice.

**Q: Updating a kitchen in a 1929 storybook tutor** *(in Before & After)*

In remodeling this kitchen, I tried to tap into the original feel of the home as well as use every design trick possible to make it look bigger and more spacious. Although two former kitchen closets were removed around the stove, the square footage of the kitchen remained the same. Whenever possible, costs were cut by using materials and components that were moderately priced or floor samples. However, because of the quirky small space, the cabinets were custom, built by a local carpenter.

A: Very cool!
